Fated is overrated

Chapter 84

Zane POV

When Zeke told me he didn't want to go through with it either, but thought he was doing it for me, I almost lost my sh*t. If we had both just owned up to it, we wouldn't have been in this mess right now.

We are such idi*ts. 'F*ck!! But forget about it for now - let's focus on making sure she makes it out alive' I reply, while I continue watching what happens between Liberty and the dragon.

I have mind linked dad and he and Damon's dad are on their way. Needless to say, dad wasn't happy. The dragon was momentarily stunned when she leaped back over the fire.

I can tell he wasn't expecting such a bold move, neither was I. Liberty now runs straight towards him as she leaps for his tail, bites down on it and immediately swings him across the yards where he crashes through a lot of trees before he drops to the ground. Damn, I wasn't expecting that! I didn't even know Lycans could penetrate a dragon's skin. And how the hell is she able to swing a full-grown, royal, dragon like that?

He's about 15 times her size and weight... It's not the first surprise she has given us today, but damn. The dragon flies into the sky and then comes crashing down towards her, towards my mate. The one I might never get to hold, love or call mine, because of my own f*cking ignorance.

But I'll be damned if I let him hurt her, I would die before I let that happen.

Lola POV

As the dragon shoots down from the sky, towards me, I brace myself to bounce at the last second. Dragons only have 2 major weaknesses as far as I was able to read in my books back home. I of them being ice. Ice is the most effective thing there is against dragons, but where the hell does one find that much ice to render a dragon this size unconscious? And the second one being water.

It is less effective than ice, however, and it only weakens them momentarily, but this is the more viable option with the lake in front of us.

I don't pay any attention to my surroundings, as I am fully focused on the lethal dragon gunning for me. Suddenly, Zeke and Zane jump in front of me, blocking my view of the dragon. Their hands are outstretched as they yell at the dragon "DAMON STOP!". I almost double over in laughter. Are you kidding me right now?

Now they know that I am their mate, all of a sudden they want to play the knight in shining armor? Right after they tried to scare me off? They can f*ck right off. I am past the point of being livid, and I am unleashing all I have bottled up today.

No more holding back, time to shine and reign down on these f*ckers. I pounce both the idi*ts out of the way, growling loudly at them and baring my teeth, meaning they need to back the f*ck off. I look back at the dragon who is now hovering in the air, and I am contemplating how to get to him.

It's not like I can fly, so I am pretty much done fighting if he doesn't come down. I snarl at him and jump on my hind legs to show I am not done with him yet.

I bet it looks like a chihuahua jumping up to bite a rottweiler. But the f*cker doesn't come down and stays up in the sky. 'Let's try something out. Put all your anger into it, and visualize him being hit by lightning and dropping him down. Perhaps it'll work just like it did earlier', Liberty suggests.

I let my rage bubble up to the surface and focus on what Liberty suggested. Although he didn't get hit by lightning, I am surprised to see him being dropped in the lake with a force so big, I swear I could see the bottom of the lake when the water all gushed out for a minute there.

As the water is settling back in, we see a human come to the surface. The water made him shift back, and he is now vulnerable in his human state against me.

He swims towards the other end of the lake and, like a predator on the hunt, I run along the edge of the lake towards the back where he is headed. It feels like I am almost flying at how fast I'm going, the trees and everything around me is a blur. Right when Damon enters the shore, I reach his vision.

I stalk towards him slowly, relishing in the look of fear in his eyes now that he is vulnerable and not so high and mighty as he was before. "Please Lola listen to me. I know what I did was wrong, I am truly sorry".

Liberty and I speak up in our wolf voice while growling lowly "sure you are. You weren't so sorry when you had your dragon, were you? Give me 1 good reason I should spare you, since you were clear in your words that you weren't going to spare me?".

We aren't actually going to finish him off, we just want to scare him like he tried to do with us. 'Speak for yourself!' Liberty chimes in. But I know she wouldn't. Unless we are left with no choice. I do really want to scare him big time though, he deserves that much. "You are right, my dragon wasn't going to spare you, he is like that when angered. But please don't Lola, I am begging you. I am all my father has left":"

Yeah, well, I don't know your father, so I really don't give a f*ck" Liberty replies, before stomping towards him and knocking him unconscious.

I hope that was a good experience for him and I hope he learns from it. Just when we are trotting away from the unconscious Damon, an even bigger and very angry looking- dragon emerges from the sky. I gulp at the sight of him. This must be his father, the dragon King.
