Fated is overrated

Chapter 150

Drake POV

Suddenly I receive an alarming mind link from one of my warriors 'my King, hurry to the front gates! We are under attack!'. I growl loudly, linking Lola and Damon immediately 'we are under attack, head to the tunnels!'. But I already know I may as well not have. I know my children, they are both stubborn and extremely protective.

And especially Lola would never agree to hide, as she is stronger than any of us and above all she feels like she is the one who caused our troubles. 'Lola don't do anything stupid! I can't lose you' I add, knowing that is the only thing keeping her from storming to her death her family.

I jump out the window and shift midair, flying my way straight towards the gates. As I expected, I see Damo and Justice ahead of me already. I growl, hoping it will have some effect. 'I told you to go to the tunnels!'. 'You know we would never, dad. What kind of Queen would I be if I didn't protect our people and fled like a weakling? Hell no'. If it were any other ruler, not my own children, I would have agreed. But this is my baby girl and baby boy that are flying towards danger.

I speed up to my absolute maximum speed and I reach the gates in no time, right behind Justice and Dymo. There is an army of vampires, hundreds to almost a thousand I'd say.

But to my shock, numerous dragons are also standing with them, having attacked our own warriors. Justice, Dymo and I let out the most ground-shaking roars I have ever heard.

One could almost see the vibrations around us. The whole battlefield comes to a freeze at our arrival, all of them focusing on the icy dragon of my baby girl.

The one they are here for. Before I can move myself in front of my daughter, a surge of wind as strong as a tornado pushes the vampires, and the dragons fighting along with them, back a couple hundred yards.

Vampires main strength is their speed, but before any of them are able to react, an enormous dome covers the entire castle, blocking the enemies off from us and locking us in. Just as I am about to sigh in relief that at least the vampires can't get through and my children should be safe, Lola launches herself through the dome.

'LOLA NO!!!!!' I yell through mind link, but she has already blocked me. F*ck!!! 'FIND A WAY OUT!' I order all my warriors, but they seem rooted to the spot. 'Dad, there is no way around' Damon chimes in my head. I growl back 'WE HAVE TO TRY!!!'.

My eyes are glued to my precious daughter in absolute horror. She has shifted back to her human form in front of the vampires and traitor dragons. She bellows loudly enough for everyone to hear, even us behind the dome "every vampire who is here against your will, step forward and surrender, and no harm will come to you.

We can provide sanctuary for you and your family if needed. This is the only chance you get, you would be wise to take it. I do not tolerate attacks on my people". She seems eerily calm, it almost freaks me out. My daughter is phenomenal at many things, but containing her anger has always been a work in progress.

I know this is only the calm before the storm though. I hear a lot of snickers in the crowd and I have to say, seeing the thousands of vampires and dozens of dragons that have gathered, I am terrified beyond words for my daughter.

I know she is strong, unlike anything I have seen before, but nobody can take out this many alone. Not even her. But her confidence is not wavering.

"Nobody is leaving, you abomination! We are here to warrant your death!" Someone steps forward and bellows back, and it isn't until now that I notice the vampire King is leading the charge.

Surprisingly, his son doesn't seem to be present. I roar loudly at the betrayal, we had peace treaties for decades! And she has literally just spared his life not even an hour ago.

But none of them seem to pay me any heed, they are fully focused on one another. Except for Lola, who seems to completely ignore the King, much to his dismay.

She is just scanning the crowd. And as I do the same, I see some vampires with pleading eyes having taken a small step forward. This only angers the vampire King further, as he yells at the top of his lungs

"GET BACK IN LINE TRAITORS! NOBODY IS LEAVING THIS BATTLEFIELD UNTIL SHE IS DEAD!". And this seems to tick Lola off, as she bursts out in flames like she always does when angered. This time, however, the flames aren't infused with black, but with a pure blinding white light. I wonder what it means?

I have no time to dwell on it, as I see strong gusts of wind carry the vampires that have stepped out of line towards the dome at lightning speed. Right before they hit the dome, it opens up in the specific areas the vampires are being shoved through, before closing instantly again. My daughter is something else.

Forgiving to those who deserve, but ruthless towards those who wish her people or her any harm. As we are about to witness. "I WARNED YOU TWICE BECAUSE YOUR SON BEGGED ME TO SPARE YOU, OLD MAN. TELL THE DEVIL I SAID HI"" she yells with a derisive underlying tone, before stretching her hand forward, balling it into a fist and releasing it.

When she does, the King literally explodes. His insides are splattered all over the vampires closest to him. The scene is really gory, even for vampires I'm sure. How on earth was she able to do that?!

She has been training a lot with Damon and me, but I haven't seen these powers yet.

The remaining vampires and dragons seem a mixture of terrified, dumbfounded and hesitant about what to do next. Lola cracks her neck from left to right, before calling out with a devious grin "don't worry, your deaths will all be a lot less quick. I am going to enjoy it a lot more".
