Fated is overrated

Chapter 148

Lola POV

If it weren't for the seriousness of the situation, I would have laughed at his boldness. Zeke and Zane let out a ground-shaking growl, but Felix doesn't even flinch. He doesn't even look at them, his eyes remain fixed on me, and it is making me blush slightly. The thing is, he even knows they are my mates by now.

He should know how possessive Alpha wolves are, let alone Lycan princes, so it really is a bold move. I avert my gaze and clear my throat, in an attempt to cover up the effect his bold statement had on me. I turn my attention to my mates, who I have to say are looking mighty fine today.

They put some wax or gel, whatever it is men use, in their hair. They are both wearing dark blue blouses and black dress pants underneath. Their leg muscles are straining against their pants as much as their upper body is, and I have to make a real effort to not let my thoughts wonder to what those muscular legs would feel like.

What it would feel like running my hands and mouth up those muscular thighs. I shake off my wanton thoughts, and focus on the task at hand. Unfortunately for them, I have a bone to pick with their mom and dad not sticking up for me. "And last but not least! My roots. The one Kingdom who should have been in my corner throughout the meeting, but chose to remain silent instead. Please voice your thoughts". "Lola, of course we would never go to war, that goes without saying! You are our mate!" Zeke answers for the both of them. From the corner of my eye, I could see Zion and Xena wincing when I called them out on their silence throughout the meeting. I guess they didn't think I was listening. "Lola, dear, of course we are in your corner! Like Zeke said, it goes without saying that we would side with the dragons if it came down to war" Xena speaks up. I don't want to get into it right now, so I just reply a curt "alright", before returning my attention back to the rest of the table. "I have only just recently found my family, and I just want to live my life with them in peace and harmony.

But make no mistake, I will demolish anyone who tries to harm them or my newfound happiness". I glance over at the vampire King, as my words are mainly aimed at him since he was the main instigator.

The current Fae and warlock rulers seem wary of me too, but I am sure their children's opinions will weigh in on their judgment of me, so I am not too worried about them.

I decide I am about done with this and throw in my closing statement. "Kings and Queens, I suggest you speak with your heirs and take their advice to heart. I don't wish to do anyone any harm, and I will never be the instigator in that.

However, those of you who wish to go to war, shall have one". And with that I make my exit back through the doors. I hear some scraping chairs as I move further down the halls, but I don't linger or wait for anyone to catch up to me. "Hey, Lola, wait!" I hear 2 voices calling out to me. But to my surprise, it aren't the voices of whom I was expecting.

I turn around, and before me stand the Fae princess and.. the Vampire prince. The Fae princess is holding a piece of paper, which she hands over to me gracefully. "Here, I would like you to have my phone number.

I am not Queen yet, but when I am, I would like us to be on good terms. Friends even if you would like. My name is Ziya by the way" she smiles sincerely at me. I take the piece of paper from her and smile back "I would like that". She smiles broadly at me, before glancing at the vampire prince with a frown on her face and taking her leave. The vampire prince is looking more nervous by the second, shuffling his feet left to right. As he isn't speaking still, I decide to break the ice myself "are you ok?". He looks up to me timidly. For a prince, he is pretty timid and calm. Unless you almost just choked his father to death, I guess.

“Yes.. I guess. I just... I wanted to apologize to you. I'm still not sure about how to feel about all of this, but my gut tells me you don't mean any harm. And although I love my father, it is wrong on so many levels to demand an innocent person's death just because they frighten you. I truly am sorry for his behavior" he drops his gaze to the floor, his remorse and shame evident from his entire posture. I approach him slowly as to not startle him, and envelop his hands with mine.

He flinches for a split second, but I caught it. I offer him my most genuine smile and respond "don't worry about it..." I drawl, signaling for his name. "Oh, right, sorry. My name is Valentin"."

Thank you, Valentin. And thank you for being such a kind young man. I know you will do great when your time to rule comes. Please have a talk with your father, though. I really don't wish him harm, I would like to prevent that".

He offers me a small smile and answers "I will, although I am unsure it will do any good. He is quite stubborn". Just when I am about to reply, Felix comes walking up to us. Valentin takes a quick look at Felix, before turning his attention back to me.

"Ok, well, I have to go Lola. Thank you for the quick chat, I appreciate it". "No worries at all, Valentin. You know where to find me if you ever need anything". He smiles genuinely, before walking off back towards the meeting room. Felix is just staring at me intently, with a sly grin on his face.
