Fated is overrated

Chapter 101

Without turning or looking around I yell at them loud enough for the whole diner to hear, as I am absolutely seething "oh yeah, my FRIENDS. Go be with your wh*re and you better f*cking accept my rejection Friday". And with that, I stroll out. I could have taken a cab, but Liberty needs to blow off some steam before we lose our sh*t completely, and innocent people might get hurt. As I reach the tree line, I remove my clothes and stuff them in my bag. Liberty takes over, puts the bag in her mouth and storms off towards the front entrance.

It's quite a distance, so it will give us some much-needed cooling down time. We are bouncing through the forest, jumping over tree trunks and dodging trees at an insane speed. Sometimes I still get amazed at how fast and agile Liberty is. And like me, she is even more fierce when she is angered. T

he same with Justice, although we haven't seen her truly angry yet. 'Well that b*tch in there did the trick though. I wouldn't mind being let out now too?' She chimes in.'

I'm sorry Jus, we will need to be in neutral territory before I let you out safely. It's already risky with Liberty as she is an unknown wolf to them. Letting you out is unfortunately always a bigger challenge. And I am a little worried you will freeze the entire diner with everyone in it'.

We reach the gates in record time and as I suspected, the guards are already in wolf form and on high alert. Another 4 wolves come running and one of them perks his ears when seeing me and shifts back, it's Tom. My first kiss Tom - who ignored me afterwards. I'm sure idi*t #1 and #2 had something to do with that, but still, it's a d*ck move. "Lola!" Tom breathes out. I only tilt my head at him as a sign to say "what?", but without wanting to waste the words. I am trying hard to avoid seeing his manhood, as he is completely naked after shifting.

I am so sorry Lola, they Alpha commanded me to ignore you. I'm so sorry I was too weak to fight it" he says with a sad expression on his face and water in his eyes.

The other wolves stare at him in confusion, tilting their heads as well. I ponder on it for a moment and I know fighting a royal Alpha command is impossible for a warrior.

It does explain why he suddenly ignored me. I don't forgive easily, but if he truly was commanded, he couldn't have done anything, so I decide to forgive. "It's fine Tom, I understand. It's ancient history by now anyway".

All their eyes widen at me being able to speak in my wolf form, and I was expecting Tom to ask about that, but he doesn't.

He replies breathlessly "it's not ancient history to me...." with a pleading look on his face. I feel bad for him about what happened, but what's done is done. He has a mate out there and I sort of have Nick. I guess? Until he finds his mate at least."

I didn't mean it like that Tom, I'm sorry for what happened. But, I am kind of in a rush to leave". He looks even more sad at that and I realize he actually might be a good guy, who just got done dirty by his "Alphas". But hey I won't be too sure of anything or anyone anymore.

Trust issues 4.0. "Can I see you again? Please?" He pleads with me. I ponder on it for a moment, before replying "I will be here Friday at 1pm at the training grounds". "What? You are coming back?!" he asks excitedly. "No, this isn't the place for me Tom. The Beta's daughter challenged me to a fight and I accepted". The other wolves look at Tom questioningly, I am not sure why exactly, but I don't intend to find out.

"Ok, I'll see you Friday then" he offers a small smile and steps aside for me to pass. The other wolves however, don't. I decide to play nice for a change, despite my burning rage, and say "can you please let me pass now? I really want to go home". The wolves all look confused, and Tom yells at them to let me through.

Reluctantly, all wolves step aside and I strut through the border and race off. I can feel Tom's longing eyes on me until I move out of sight.

After having ran and flown through unclaimed lands for hours, Liberty, Justice and I are finally ready to go home. We ran into some rogues, but one look is all it took for them to run off in the other direction, and I am happy I didn't have to kill anyone.

I reach home and as I open the door Nick storms towards me, with a worried look on his face. "Goddess Lola! I was worried sick, are you ok?". "Sorry, what time is it? I lost track of time a bit I am afraid".

I can see the disappointment and sadness in his face, and then it dawns on me that he must have thought I enjoyed my date so much, that I stayed out late and lost track of time. "No no, not like that! I left the date during dinner, I had to get out and run for a bit to cool off".

His disappointment now morphs into concern and he asks "what did they do??". As he gives me a hug while gently sitting us both down. I recount the entire day, and his expression goes back and forth between sympathy and anger. "You deserve so much better Lola..

You deserve the very best in the world. How do you get dealt such sh*tty cards all the time?". "Honestly, I don't care. Not in the sense one would think though, it's only that the disrespect angers me. But, not every card I got dealt was sh*t though". He looks up at me with a small sympathetic smile"

I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that". "Don't be!" I rush out. "I have a few good cards. One of them being you" I smile up at him.
