Fallen Thirst

Chapter Chapter thirty

Roland's POV

I walk into the dark home that I haven't been in for two weeks. It feels weird that I'm coming back to my home. I don't even want to call it home.

It's a place that I've dreaded to come back to. I've never called my family a family, yet I still do. They all stick together ganging up on me.

When Blade was still living with us he'd always protect me no matter what the cost is. Since he disappeared I was all alone taking every hit. No one cared for me so I started hiding my emotions and bottling it all up. I took every hit and became miserable. I started getting depression and no one cared.

Months later I finally got over my depression which I was lucky for. Most people wouldn't have but I was one of the few who did.

When I got over my depression state they continued to abuse me in all ways, apart from sexual.

At some point I tried running away but the citizens caught me and brought me back. Let's just say that the next morning I couldn't move.

When the fire burned our house I was more than happy since I didn't have to live on that hell hole and I could move on, but they wouldn't let me. Mother insisted we stuck together at all costs. We've travelled all around the world looking for a place to live and that's where we found this place. I've read about this house and what happened to the Vanetts.

Father liked the house and that's where we came in. Little did we know that just across the forest was another home. The Tandlers. We had no idea whom they were until they barged into our home. I was excited to know that I've found Blade again. He's moved on and has found a new and improved family. He's been living here for years and we had no idea.

I'm glad that he's found a better family. Where he can be free to be himself. No worries about being abused or anything.

"Where were you?"

I turn to my left sitting in the living room is Seth.

"What do you mean?"

"For the past two weeks, where were you?"

"Somewhere you don't need to know."

"Actually, I do. You are my little brother and it's my job to make sure that your safe. Now I'm not asking again, where were you?" His voice grew deeper.

"It's none of your business. Since when did you care about me? You never had."

"Don't be ridiculous. I've always care for you."

"Not when I was getting abused or when I had depression. None of you did. The only person who ever cared for me was Blade."

"Blade's a traitor to this family. When he disappeared that night he's been a traitor. Leaving us all. He's never welcomed back into the family."

I stayed silent gritting my jaw. I can't let him know that I know that he knows he's got Sarah.

"Roland!"

I turn to my mother who's coming at me. "Oh dear, are you okay? Are you hurt? Where were you?"

She was checking all over me for anything that could've been harmed. I rip myself away from her and I can see the hurt in her eyes.

"If you want to be a good mother then start protecting me from Carl."

I didn't want to call him father. He's not a father to me. Every since I've been hanging around the Tandlers, I've started to realize what a father and a mother figure really is. Victoria and Raul have been there for me.

"He's your father so start calling him father," my mother scolded me.

"I'm not. Not in a million years. He's not a father to me. Fathers don't abuse their kids and mothers don't sit back and watch it happen. They're supposed to intervene and save them. You're no mother to me and you'll never be."

I saw the hurt in her eyes but I didn't care. She doesn't deserve to be called mother. All these years that I've been abused she sat back and let it happen.

Not this time. "So would you two do me a favour and leave me be? Thank you."

I left them heading towards my room. I lock the door so no one can intervene.

Digging in my pocket I fish out the ear piece that Raul gave me. I connected it in placing in my ear.

"Hello," I test.

"Hey, what took you so long?" Keir asks.

"Sorry, family business that I'm sure you wouldn't want to hear."

"Umm no. I don't want to hear your family drama."

"Didn't think so."

"Okay, so what's gonna happen is hopefully your will go out and need you to wander around to find something-anything that can lead us to Sarah."

"Got it."

A soft knock on my door interrupted us. I open to find Molly at my door.

"Hey kiddo, what's happening?"

"Why are you mad at Uncle Seth and gwandma?"

I sigh kneeling down to her level. "It's complicated as your still young. When you get older you'll understand."

"Can I stay with you? Mama has gone out."

"Sure, c'min."

I opened the door wider for her.

She jumped on my bed as I lock the door. "Whatcha need kiddo?"

"I wanna stay with you."

"Okay, you can do that."

"Who's that?" Keir asks.

"My niece."

"Who are you talking to?" Molly asks tilting her head to the side.

"No one," I lied.

-

I was chilling on my bed reading a book with Molly sleeping against my chest. I made sure she's fast asleep before lifting her up and taking her to her room.

I made my way downstairs to the basement where her room is located. I wanted to trade my room for her room downstairs so she's upstairs with the rest of us, but father instead that she needs to grow some courage and sleep downstairs. Alone.

Tucking her into bed, I turned on the night light for her and closed the door half way. Just as I was about to turn, I glanced at the metal door at the end of the hallway.

It called out to me. I didn't taken my eye off of the door as I advanced closer. Before I know it, I'm centimetres away from touching it.

The keyboard caught my eye. Great, now I need a password and I don't know what it is.

I press against my earpiece. "I've found something."
