Chapter 179 

“It’s undoubted that I spent the past five years waiting for you to enter my life. That’s heartless for you to say,” said Carlos. 

As soon as these bewitching words came out, Edith was even more powerless to resist. 

She thought, “Oh my god…. 

It’s still early in the morning. Why is life so thrilling?” 

Edith tried to push Carlos away, but she couldn’t. She was so desperate that she was about to burst into tears. 

“Stop, stop fooling around. It’s so strange,” Edith begged. 

“Then you have to remember this feeling. You will become my wife in the future. We will be this intimate quite often,” Carlos said with a smirk. 

After that, Carlos did not insist on imposing such intimacy on Edith. He knew that Edith was shy, so he could only hold his desire back. 

Carlos told himself to wait. 

“When the truth is revealed… 

When it is justified… 

I won’t this hot girl get away again. Edith probably doesn’t even know how charming and lovely she is and how many mien are obsessed with her. 

She is like a cute bunny. How could I not make her my woman?” 

The two had breakfast together and then drove to work. 

Edith started to design clothes for Carlos. When she was drawing, she habitually bit the marker pen. 

When Edith hit a bottleneck, she would bite the tip of the pen with her head tilted. 

With her brows furrowed, Edith looked highly focused. 

A woman focused on her work was indeed attractive. 

Today, Sam briefed Carlos on his working agenda and pointed out that Carlos had to go on another business trip for about three days. 

Carlos wanted to take Edith with him, but the client he was going to meet was a lecher. 

Carlos knew that with him around, the client wouldn’t do anything to Edith. 

Even so… 

Carlos still found it uncomfortable. 

It bothered Carlos that others were coveting his gorgeous wife. 

When Carlos told Edith about the business trip, Edith showed blatant disappointment on her face and demanded, “You’ve only been back for a few days. Why are you going away for work again?” 

“Yes, but I’ll be back in three days. I’ll take you to the water park on the weekend. There’s a music fountain there,” Carlos said. 

“Is this your compensation?” Edith wrinkled her nose and asked unhappily. 

Hearing this, Carlo caressed Edith’s head with a faint smile. He knew that Edith was a reasonable woman. When he had work to do, Edith wouldn’t pester him. 

However, Edith couldn’t hide her emotions well. Whether she was happy or angry, she showed it on her face. 

“I’ll bring you a gift. Last time, I was in a hurry and forgot it,” Carlos said comfortingly. 

When Edith heard this, her heart skipped a beat. 

“He would bring me a gift…. 

I rarely received gifts!” Edith contemplated. 

“Then I’ll make a mental note. If you don’t, you’re dead meat,” said Edith. 

Carlos replied, “Good girl. Do miss me when I’m away. I have an emergency meeting this evening. I’ll ask Sam to drive you home first.” 

Edith nodded obediently. When she returned home, she thoughtfully prepared dinner and waited for Carlos to come home. However, Carlos did not 

return. 

It would be a lie to say that Edith was not disappointed. However, Edith also knew that as the president of the group, Carlos must have a lot of issues 

to deal with. 

Chapter 179 

It was just that Edith had never tasted the bitterness of waiting for her love when she was dating Johann. Since the two of them had always been in a long–distance relationship, it seemed that the two were always waiting for each other. Thus, Edith didn’t feel anything. 

Now, Edith had lasted sweetness and bitterness from her relationship with Carlos. She had all kinds of feelings mixed together. She wondered if this was the taste of love and thought that it seemed to be very interesting. She hoped that there would be more sweetness and less bitterness. She never took bitterness well. 

Without knowing it, Edith fell asleep. When she woke up the next day, the sun was already up in the sky. 

Edith remembered that Carlos‘ flight took off at eight o’clock in the morning. 

Seeing that it was already nine o’clock, Edith quickly got up from bed. 

Seeing her panic, Susan asked, “What’s wrong, Mrs. Lawson?” 

“Oh, I overslept! Oh, I forgot to see Carlos off! It’s surely too late now…” Edith hollered. 

Edith hit herself in the head in annoyance and looked out of the window anxiously, almost crying. 

Just then, Edith felt a sharp pain in the back of her head, and her heart trembled. 

Before Edith could turn around, she heard a familiar voice say, “It’s really torturing to wait for you to see me off.” 

Edith’s heart jolted when she heard the warm voice, and she almost shed tears. 

Carlos hadn’t left yet… 

As soon as Edith turned around, she threw herself into Carlos‘ warm arms and hugged him tightly, saying, “I thought you were already gone!” 

Looking at the loving couple, Susan couldn’t help laughing. She said, “Mr. Lawson deliberately put his flight off so that you could sleep well.” 

Hearing this, Edith looked up in surprise and asked, “Am I disturbing your work?” 

“No, a little delay won’t hurt. You don’t need to go to the airport to see me off. Just hug me here and watch me leave. The airport… The atmosphere of parting there is too strong. I don’t like it. Just wait for me at home, okay?” Carlos said caringly. 

Carlos stroked Edith’s head like a husband carefully heeded his wife staying at home before leaving. 

Edith nodded meekly and stood in the doorframe, watching Carlos leave. 

Being away from your loved one was hard. Fortunately, it was only three days. 

As Edith watched Carlos go away, she slowly became heavy–hearted. 

Edith touched her chest and asked internally, “Do I really like him that much? 

He only left a moment ago. We’ll only be parted for three days. 

But I actually miss him. I begin to miss shortly after Carlos left. This is bad!” 

Edith quickly shook her head. Seeing that it was still early, she decided to go to the company. 

Edith wouldn’t feel good staying at home anyway. 

Only by being busy could Edith stop her imagination from running wild. 

After Carlos left, Edith behaved herself. She went to work every day on time and never got off earlier than allowed. She even put in extra hours when 

Sam did the same. 

Edith painted with great enthusiasm every day. When she pictured Carlos wearing the outfits she designed, she was overjoyed. 

The third day after Carlos left was also the day he would return. 

Carlos told Edith that he would come to the company to pick her up for dinner and asked her to wait for him there. 

When Edith was still fussing about what color the tie she was designing should be to match the outfit, she was taken aback by a sudden noise outside. 

Thinking that Carlos was back, Edith went to open the door. However, there was no trace of Carlos outside. Instead, it was a stranger. 

The man was about 25 years old. He was tall and looked sort of vicious. 

Perhaps because of his slanted eyes, the look the man was displaying seemed particularly fierce. 

Edith was frightened by the look the man was giving her. 

The man pointed straight at Edith and said, “Who is she? Why is she in Carlos‘ office?” 

An employee nearby uttered in fear, “Mr. Eric, this is the president’s personal designer. She is mainly responsible for socializing and fashion design.” 

“So, she is his secretary,” blurted the man, whose lips curled into a nasty smile. 

“Mr. Eric…” Edith repeated in her mind. 

Suddenly, Edith remembered who this man was. 

Chapter 179 

He was Simon Lawson’s older brother, Eric Lawson! 

Eric’s reputation was very bad. People said that he possessed some rare talent but had neither learning nor skill. 

As half of the Lawson Group’s shares were in Eric’s hands, Eric’s status was far higher than that of Simon. 

“Doesn’t that mean that this man is my brother–in–law?” 

I should have respectfully called him brother!” Edith thought as her mind raced. 

“I thought Carlos was gay. Never thought that he’s hidden a mistress in his house. You know how to design clothes, right? Why not design one for 

me?” Eric ordered. 

After saying that, Eric grabbed Edith by the arm. 

Edith was startled and wanted to struggle, but Eric exerted more force, which made her gasp in pain. 

Today, Sam was away from the company to deal with something else. The rest of the employees had no real power. Therefore, no one could stop Eric if he wanted to take Edith away!
