Fall For “My Husband’s Uncle” By Janet Macadam

Chapter 178

Chapter 178

Edith could not explain it away. She wished there was a crack in the ground that she could dive into.

“I truly let my lust get the best of me. Why did I have to touch Carlos while he was sleeping?” Edith thought in frustration.

Now that Edith was caught between a rock and a hard place, she could do nothing but moan.

If you like it, you can touch me however you want. Anyway, I’m yours. Why are you being shy?” said Carlos.

Then, Carlos grabbed Edith’s little hand and put it directly into his collar.

Just before Edith’s hand was about to reach the private part, Carlos arched his eyebrow and said in a slightly hoarse voice, “Still going deeper? Do you really wanna know my size?”

Edith came back to her senses. Alarmed, she quickly withdrew her hand. Just as she was about to run away, Carlos pulled her back into his arms.

“Alright, alright, no more jokes. Let’s go to sleep. Let me hold you, then I can sleep well, too,” Carlos suggested.

Hearing Carlos‘ voice tinged with slight fatigue, Edith’s heart softened. She didn’t try to struggle at all.

Carlos put his long arms around Edith, and Edith’s ears were pressed against Carlos‘ chest.

Edith seemed to be able to hear the sonorous and powerful heartbeats coming from beneath Carlos‘ skin.

Just as Edith was listening carefully, Carlos‘ gentle voice said, “My heart is saying ‘love you! Did you catch that?”

“Huh?” Edith said, stunned.

“My heart said that since the first time we met, it noticed that your eyes were beautiful. The second time we met, I happened to be in need of a female companion, and my heart didn’t object to you. Later, I ran into you on the side of the road, and then came across you in a private dining room…” said Carlos.

To be exact, they had met on their wedding night. It was just that the lights were off, so neither of them knew who they were marrying.

Therefore, that was their first encounter.

“From then on, you left a deep impression on me every time we met. Edith, I didn’t decide to love you on the spur of the moment. Instead, I did it after careful consideration,” Carlos added.

Hearing this, Edith was a little overwhelmed.

“Edith…

“I didn’t decide to love you on the spur of the moment.

“I did it after careful consideration.”

These words sounded so reassuring!

Edith took a deep breath, plucked up her courage, and took the initiative to hug Carlos.

Then, Edith asked, “Do you know when I fell in love with you?”

“I’m all ears.”

Edith replied, “I don’t know. It’s probably when you helped me out at Vanessa’s wedding. Or maybe it’s the time when you tapped my head giving me a tell–off after I burnt my hand from cooking spaghetti with bolognese. Or maybe it’s the time you came to my side like a god and saved me from Elvis Grismer… You seem to have always noticed me when I’m in a mess and show up to help me at the most critical moment.

“My falling for you is not a spur–of–the–moment decision, either. It’s a decision made after careful consideration. I thought I would no longer love anyone, but you taught me to love myself before loving anyone else. So, I’m full of vigor now and can’t help but want to try what it feels like to embrace happiness.”

“Now that you’ve had a taste of embracing happiness, do you like it?” Carlos asked jokingly.

Hearing this, Edith felt a surge of warmth in her heart and said with a smile, “I’ve found that happiness feels a little hot, like a stove. It should be very comfortable to hold it in my arms in winter”

“Well, in winter, happiness will also warm you, my little princess,” Carlos said dotingly.

Carlos‘ warm voice was deep and mellow, like aged fine wine. The more Edith heard it, the giddier she became.

“So this is what it felt like to fall in love!” Edith exclaimed internally.

Edith self–indulgently held the “happiness” in her arms and felt much more secure.

Chapter 178

The next day, when the two came out of the bedroom, Susan laughed happily.

“Mrs. Lawson, you must be tired. Hurry up and eat some nutritious breakfast!” Susan urged.

Edith instantly understood that Susan had misunderstood. Yet, just as she prepared to explain, she was stopped by Carlos.

“Susan, go ahead with your work. We’ll go to the dining room soon,” Carlos said.

Edith looked at Carlos in confusion, After Susan left, she couldn’t help but ask, “Why did you let her misunderstand the situation? How… how embarrassing this is!”

“Do you want her to know that I shared a room with you all night but we didn’t have sex? Do you think I’m such a loser as a man? Besides, Susan will spread the words, which will reach my mother’s ears soon. Just take this as a way to make my mother feel at ease,” Carlos explained.

“Ah? Your mother will know? But, I haven’t divorced yet I am still another man’s wife. Yet, I stayed in a bedroom with you all night without justified reasons. She will definitely look down on me!” Edith said worriedly

In an instant, Edith became anxious.

Edith hadn’t married Carlos yet, but she might have left a bad impression on her future mother–in–law. She couldn’t let that happen!

“No, I have to stop Susan. I’m a good, virtuous girl…” Edith insisted.

Before Edith could walk out, Carlos grabbed her back.

“My mom can’t wait for me to have a woman by my side so that people wouldn’t talk. So, you can relax,” Carlos said coolly. It seemed that every time he mentioned his mother, no emotion was stirred up inside him. “Besides, if words got out saying that I remained ascetic even though I had at breathtakingly beautiful lady by my side, what would people think of me?” Carlos argued.

On hearing those words, Edith immediately showed a secretive look.

With her big eyes swiveling, Edith asked gingerly, “Are you sure you know what people say about you?”

Carlos raised his eyebrows slightly. He had rarely paid attention to those gossips, whereas he could more or less guess the gist. It was probably very unpleasant to hear, saying that he was not into women and so on.

“What? Do you know? Tell me about it,” Carlos encouraged.

“If… If I told you, promise me you wouldn’t hit me…” Edith said.

Edith put her arms around her head and couldn’t help warning him.

These words made Carlos even more curious.

He was now eager to know what exactly the words about him on the street were..

“I won’t hit you. Just tell me,” Carlos promised.

“The gist is that you have erectile dysfunction.” After saying that, Edith stole a glance at Carlos‘ face. Sure enough, Carlos‘ face darkened. Edith swallowed and continued, “They also said that you don’t like women, and it’s very likely that you like men! You even paid many guys to sleep with you, such as Robert and Brian, who are often seen with you. They believe they are your lovers…”

When Edith finished, Carlos‘ face instantly turned somber. It couldn’t have turned sullener.

“These are downright fabricated stories!” Carlos bawled inwardly.

“So, that’s how you used to see me, isn’t it?” Carlos asked in a dangerous voice.

Edith stuck out her tongue and said, “I thought you wanted to marry me just to shut people up so that you could continue to have fun with your guys. But later, when i saw Meggie at your house, I thought you had a female lover and were having an affair with her. But it turned out that it was nothing like what people said. I didn’t expect that you stayed single only because of Miss Huffam…”

At the end of her words, Edith couldn’t help feeling a little jealous.

Only then did Carlos‘ expression soften a little.

Carlos forcibly pulled Edith into his arms and leaned in.

Edith thought that Carlos was going to kiss her, so she subconsciously turned her head away. However, what she didn’t know was that Carlos didn’t intend to do that in the first place.
