Chapter 125 

“Does he often yell at you?” Sarah asked in confusion. 

“No, he appears indifferent and difficult to be around, but sometimes he is reasonable. But he looks like a puzzle to me. I don’t know what is on his mind. Every time I look into his eyes, I can’t see through him. Isn’t such a man scary?” Edith said. 

Sarah knitted her eyebrows when she heard this. In the past, she would have persuaded Edith to stay away from Carlos. After all, she couldn’t afford to mess with such a big shot. 

If she offended him, she would be doomed. 

However, if she didn’t date Carlos, then Edith would be single and Daniel wouldn’t give up on her. 

Before Edith had a crush on Daniel, Sarah must pair her and Carlos together. 

She had been good enough to Edith. In addition to getting her a job, she also took her in and introduced sources to her. She didn’t yearn for much. What she wanted was that things would never work out between Edith and Daniel. She didn’t think it was a greedy will. 

She didn’t feel guilty. 

That was what Edith owed her. 

“We all have feelings. Give him a chance. From tomorrow on. I’ll not have lunch with you. You can dine with Carlos,” Sarah said. 

“What? You’re not going to have lunch with me?” Edith said with her mouth agape. They used to go to the company’s cafeteria together. Only when they got good ideas for their work would they eat separately. 

“If I stick with you all day, I’m afraid that Carlos would make things difficult for me at work,” Sarah said jokingly. 

“Humph. I’m not in a relationship with him yet, okay? I’m still a married woman!” Edith said awkwardly. 

Sarah made it sound like she and Carlos were in a committed relationship, which made her embarrassed. 

For the whole afternoon, she couldn’t focus on her work because Sarah’s words echoed within her mind. 

Did she have a crush on Carlos? 

Was she ready to get into a new relationship? 

After she was out of the office, Edith asked Susan not to make dinner. On the way to the villa, she decided to buy ingredients 

herself. 

She let Carlos stop at the entrance of the supermarket. 

“Why didn’t you let Susan cook dinner? The ingredients in the villa have always been fresh,” he said with a puzzled look. 

“Come on How can I show my sincerity if I let others do the work? I must do it myself to treat you. You did me such a big favor yesterday. Of course, I’ll repay your kindness today!” Edith said sweetly. 

“So this is how you pay me back,” Carlos said with a small smile. 

He liked it when she spoke. She always said pleasant things, and her voice was good. 

She loved to smile, and her dimples could be seen clearly when she smiled. 

Carlos followed Edith with a shopping cart. She said that she was going to select dishes, but she came to the snack area. 

Two jelly, two bags of chips, and two bags of cookies…” she murmured as she put the snacks in the cart. 

Each time she had her eyes on a snack, she would buy two. Soon the cart was full. 

“Can you have it all?” he asked helplessly. 

“I got you,” she said naturally. 

She had lived with the fact that Carlos would often sleep over at the villa. Even if not, he would often come over there. 

Nothing had happened between them, and things didn’t get awkward between them when they were together. She loved it when the villa got lively. 

She was the hostess of the villa now. 

Carlos‘ heart was warmed. 

She had gotten two for each snack, one for her, and one for him. 

It turned out to be such an amazing thing when they shared things like a couple. 

Carlos, who was a lone wolf, hadn’t expected such a thing to happen to him. 

Two bath towels drew Edith’s attention. One was pink with a bear and the other was blue. Both looked lovely. 

“Uncle Carlos, can I get them? One for you and one for me,” Edith said to Carlos. 

“Sure. You can get whatever you want. I’ll pay the bill,” he responded. 

“How can I let you pay a check? This is on me. I just got my salary!” she said. 

Carlos always covered for her. Now she finally had money. Of course, she wouldn’t spend his money. 

“If you say so,” Carlos agreed as he didn’t have the heart to reject her kindness. 

The moment those words jumped out of his mouth, a mocking voice reached their ears behind them. 

“I can’t believe Mr. Lawson would come to this place. And you even let women get the bill? What happened? It has just been five years since we met last time, and you ended up being in such a spot?” 

Edith turned around. 

She saw a man wearing a slim vest under a T–shirt and military tactical pants. Moreover, he was muscular with a buzz cut. It was easy to tell from his outfit that he was a tough guy in the service. 

However, he furrowed his eyebrows and there was a scar from his forehead to the end of his eyebrow, which made him look spooky. 

His smile was sinister and mean. Obviously, he didn’t see eye to eye with Carlos. 

She considered Carlos scary when he didn’t draw a smile. But she found someone scarier than him. 

He was smiling, but she couldn’t feel his pleasure at all. Instead, she found him creepy. 

There was a stunning and gentle woman standing beside such a fierce man. She looked fragile, which gave people the urge to protect her. 

Looking at her, Edith thought of Bambi which was weak and fragile as if it was sick. 

She felt weird when she saw that they stood together. 

The woman evidently disapproved of what the man said. She frowned and took his hand to let him stop. But the man who was holding her hand pulled her into his arms. 

It was evident that the woman was unhappy with his actions. She struggled slightly but couldn’t break free. She had to endure it. 

She obviously didn’t like it, but she didn’t say anything. Why? 

Lost in her thought, Edith found that something was going on with Carlos beside her. 

His grip on the cart handle was so hard that it seemed as if he was trying to break it. 

The blue veins protruded under his skin, which was a terrifying scene. 

He furrowed his eyebrows and frown lines could be seen. 

His attractive eyes were berserk with immense fury.

The second the man and woman appeared, Carlos became ferocious as if he were going to give his enemy a fatal blow at any 

time. 

“Uncle Carlos…” Edith whispered. 

She was obviously frightened by his expression. 

Her scared and soft voice brought him back to reality. 

He turned and met her pure eyes. She was looking at him like a helpless little girl. 

His anger suddenly disappeared. He walked up to her with the cart and put her hands on its handle. He said gently, “Why don’t 

you get the steaks yourself? I’ll meet you soon.” 

“Then make it quick, okay?” Edith said. 

Noticing the intense atmosphere between Carlos and that man, she felt worried. 

What was this man’s relationship with Carlos? And why did Carlos look at that woman tenderly? 

Edith even got jealous of that woman because of the way Carlos looked at her.
