Extracts from The Diaries of 'Professor' Cornelius Crane

Chapter May 4th, 1968

Kids will be kids. You don’t have to be friends with any to persuade them to come to your birthday party. I handed out ten invitations yesterday, and today, with their parents’ approval, all ten have accepted.

I’m looking very forward to the party – NOT!!! (Now there’s an expression that is still to become popular).

Mother, on the other hand is quite ecstatic. Whether it’s because she enjoys the idea of entertaining a large group of rowdy kids, or because she wants to see her only son having fun with other children, I cannot say?

Maybe it’s both?
