Chapter 479
Chapter 479 Drinking Tea May Help You Survive
Hearing what the bodyguard said, Jennifer asked gruffly, “Are you telling me what to do?"
Surprisingly, the bodyguard wasn't afraid at all, because he had Ronian behind his back.
"No offense, Ms. Felton. Your priority should be making sure your sister is safe."
"Who do you think you are? You do offend me!"
The bodyguard lowered his head, warning in a cold voice, "Ms. Felton, just so you know, Mr. Felton ordered us to protect you.
We're responsible for informing Mr. Felton about what happened today.”
"Are you threatening me?" Jennifer flared up.
The bodyguard lowered his head even more.
"No, Ms. Felton.”
The bodyguard showed no respect.
Jennifer had never been treated this way. However, thinking of Ronian, Jennifer could only swallow her anger and walk toward
Jimmy who was standing in front of the entrance to Viorin.
"Umm... Jimmy, how's Sherlyn? Is she in there? Can you call Viola and let me in to see Sherlyn? I'll leave as long as I know
Sherlyn’s all right."
Two bodyguards behind Jennifer instantly put on serious looks. Two men lowered their heads to hide the murderous intent in
their eyes.
Jimmy glanced at the bodyguards behind Jennifer and shook his head again. "No one’s home now. They all went out," Jimmy
replied sincerely.
Jennifer went on, "Do you know where Sherlyn was taken?”
Jimmy smiled, "I am just Ms. McGraw's bodyguard, who only takes orders and asks no questions. I have no authority to ask
where my boss goes."
Jimmy put on a gentle smile, but his voice sounded unfriendly.
Jennifer turned around and cast a disdainful glance at the bodyguards behind her.
Jennifer mocked, “Did you hear that? Sherlyn isn't here. What else do you want me to do?”
"We're sorry, Ms. Felton." Two bodyguards bowed hurriedly to Jennifer.
Jennifer snorted. After saying goodbye to Jimmy, Jennifer left the Hobson's house and went home happily.
In the laboratory.
Kolby did a test on Sherlyn.
Half an hour later, Kolby returned to the ward with Sherlyn's test results.
"Sherlyn’s results came back normal. Her hormone level is just a little too high, so she could easily get emotional."
Russell held Sherlyn's hand tightly. "Are you sure? Didn't Ronian inject Sherlyn with anything weird?” he asked.
Kolby shook his head and answered, "Drugs in the lab are chemical weapons, negatively affecting human skin, flesh, or organs.
However, none of them is known to harm nerves. Therefore, I can't find out what type of drug Sherlyn was injected with.
"If Sherlyn was really injected with nerve-damaging drugs, I have to know exactly what that is so as to treat her."
Viola and Russell fell silent.
Only Ronian would know what the drug was.
However, Ronian would never tell the truth and got himself into trouble.
This matter was far more complicated than anyone imagined.
Kolby gave Sherlyn a sedative to calm her down. Sherlyn was too hysterical. In that case, she wouldn't take medicine when she
was conscious, but she couldn't do it either when she was asleep. A sedative dose seemed to be the best choice for Sherlyn.
Kolby also prescribed some special medicine to treat the wounds on Sherlyn's hands.
Extremely upset, Russell held Sherlyn’s hand tightly. Russell felt as if his world was collapsing.
Russell had done everything he could to get Sherlyn out and take her to the laboratory. Nevertheless, Russell didn't expect that
all he had done would make no difference.
Without saying anything, Viola sighed and followed Russell. She rubbed the back of Russell's head gently.
Viola comforted, "Don't worry, Russell. It's only the first day. Let's go back and see how we can work this out together. There
must be something we can do."
Russell nodded with a sullen face.
Viola continued, "Don't beat yourself up. It's not all your fault. And you didn't mean it. Everything is gonna be fine."
"Okay," Russell lightly echoed.
Viola knew that Russell wasn't in the mood to listen to her, so she stopped talking. Viola decided to get out of the ward, leaving
Russell alone with Sherlyn alone for a while.
In the National Bureau of Investigation.
Ronian felt that he was dying.
After more than 500 push-ups, Ronian had been standing to attention for more than 2 hours without a break.
What was more, Ronian wasn't allowed to move. If Ronian had done so, the book over his head would have dropped to the floor.
Under this intense physical punishment, Ronian didn’t have time to think about other things. Ronian just wanted this terrible
punishment to be over.
Ring ring ring.
Ronian took a deep breath and smiled with relief.
Ronian never thought that the sound of the timer was the greatest music he himself had ever heard in the world.
"Mr. Hobson, time's up."
At that point, Ormand was busy with paperwork with a pen in his hand. Ormand casually replied, "Hmm, put those books back."
"Thank you, Mr. Hobson.”
It was a nightmare for Ronian. Ronian was relieved that Ormand let him off the hook.
It had been many years since Ronian had had intense physical training. Ronian could no longer bear the fatigue.
Based on the classification of the books, Ronian carefully put them back on the shelf in order.
After that, Ronian came up to Ormand s desk again. He bowed slightly to Ormand and turned to leave.
"Stop right there."
Ormand looked up at Ronian in confusion. "Did I tell you to leave?"
Ronian froze in fear.
Ronian thought, isn't it over?
Ronian was so angry that he couldn't wait to shoot Ormand. However, he had no choice but to walk back and straighten up.
"I'm sorry, sir."
Ormand put the pen down and slowly poured Ronian a cup of iced tea.
"Relax. I get you a cup of tea. Come on. Drink it."
Ronian looked at Ormand suspiciously. Ronian couldn't believe that Ormand was so nice to him and even poured him tea.
Filled with surprise and confusion, Ronian stepped forward and took the cup from Ormand.
The exhausting physical training wore Ronian out.
As Ronian was about to take a sip of his tea, Ormand suddenly said in a stern voice, "After all, you're gonna have intense
training later. Drinking tea might help you survive."
Clank, a great sound suddenly was heard.
Ronian’s hands were shaking. The teacup accidentally fell to the wooden floor and smashed to pieces, with tea all over the floor.
Ronian hadn't touched his tea. Ronian looked blankly at the cup, then at Ormand.
"Mr. Hobson, I'll pay for the cup..." Ronian said hoarsely.
"Of course, you gotta pay it for me, but I feel that you don't like the tea I poured for you," Ormand said coldly, staring at Ronian.
"No, I...’
Ormand interrupted, "You don't seem tired. Fine. Why don't we just skip the tea part and get started?”
Ronian didn't know what to say.
Even though Ronian pulled a long face, Ormand didn't change his mind. Ormand fixed his steely eyes on Ronian.
"Get against the wall and do handstands for 20 minutes."
Ronian exclaimed in his mind, handstands?
My body aches all over. I can't stand on my head even for 5 minutes, let alone 20 minutes!
“Mr. Hobson, can I..."
"30 minutes. Do it immediately,” Ormand interrupted while setting up a timer and placing it on the table.
Ronian was speechless.
Ronian took a deep breath. Pursing his lips, Ronian didn't move.
Ormand looked up at Ronian coldly, "What? You don’t wanna piss me off, right? Just shut up and do what I said. Or you're gonna
do headstands for 40 minutes."
