Chapter 33
Emma’s POV
About an hour ago Larus came back with two of the hordes that will be fighting for me in a few days. I didn’t really like the thought of it but I knew everyone in my new family won’t be able to take on the angels and I didn’t want them to get hurt.
I walked into mine and Alex’s room and flopped face down onto the bed. Alex was sitting in the window sill reading a book, “Stressful day again?”
I turned my head to look over at her, “Something like that.”
She turned the page in her book, “It can’t be that bad. You didn’t witness the dead but not dead human that turned out to be an angel trying to kill us.”
“I just don’t like the idea of having all these evils here to fight in a war for me.”
Alex closed her book and laughed, “So you don’t like that Larus’ and Elijah’s friends are willing to protect you even though you are a human and they don’t even know you? That is very non human of you. Normally you guys are selfish like that.”
I sat up and threw a pillow at her, “So you are saying I am selfish?!”
She caught the pillow and put it on the ground, “I am actually saying the opposite. If you would have listened you would have gotten that but you are human so that might be a little difficult for you.”
I buried my head back into the bed, “I hate you.”
It took a few seconds before I felt her wrap her arms around me and pull me into her lap, “I love you too.”
I gave into her touch and wrapped my arms around her neck, burying my face in her shoulder, “Seriously though, I don’t want you guys to get hurt because of me.”
Alex lifted my head up so her red eyes looked into mine, “We are evils, the angels are not going to hurt us. We may get a few scratches or bruises but we can handle those… Now, how about we go down the pool room to relax. Larus finally got the window fixed.”
I nodded and smiled at her, “That sounds perfect.”
She gave me a quick kiss before standing up with me in her arms and walking over to the window. Without a thought, she jumped out, causing us to go plummeting to the earth then we landed perfectly upright on the ground. I shook my head, “Was that really necessary?”
“No but it was faster.”
She walked down the side of the castle then we entered into a side door that took us into the pool room. An evil was already in there sitting with his wings out and feet in the water. He had short blonde hair and black tribal tattoos covering his arms. His navy blue eyes connected with us, “Oh I am sorry. I can leave if you want to be alone.”
I jumped out of Alex’s arms and walked over to the water and put my feet in, “It’s fine. You are going to be fighting for me so this home is your home for the time being too.”
His eyes widened, “Oh you must be Emma and I am guessing the evil behind you staring me down is your mate, Alexandra.”
I looked behind me and sure enough Alex was glaring him down. I sighed, “Alex stop being so protective.”
The other evil laughed while Alex huffed and sat down next to me. I turned back to him, “Yes I am Emma and this is Alexandra.”
“Great to meet you two. I am Tobias, leader of the Riverstone Horde.”
“Riverstone Horde, that sounds cool. Where is your horde from?”
“Canada. We travel around the rivers and lakes there. My horde is at its strongest near water. We are also very good swimmers.”
I noticed that his wings had a blue shimmer to them as he folded them in. I gasped, “Woah, you wings are shimmering.”
He laughed and shrugged it off, “Yeah our feathers have this extra layer to them like a fish’s scales. It helps us cut through the water but it makes them heavier to fly with.”
Just then the door opened and an evil with messy brown hair stepped in, “There you are, my love. Our horde’s are going to practice and fly for a bit. Do you want to join?”
Tobias stood, “Of course. Jerick, this is Emma and Alexandra.”
Jerick nodded to us, “Nice to finally meet you two. I am Jerick, leader of the Elk Ridge Horde.”
Alex just nodded and I responded back to him, “Thank you for coming to fight.”
He bowed his head, “An evil like myself would never pass up the opportunity to kill a few angels. We better get going now though. I am sure we will be seeing a lot of each other over the next few days.”
They both bowed their heads and headed out of the room, leaving me and Alex to ourselves. Alex let out a breath like she was holding it in this whole time, “Thank Satan they left.”
“Why did you say that? They seem nice.”
She shook her head, “They are evils, Emma. Larus is part angel so his evil instincts are a little toned down and so are mine. Their’s aren’t. They enjoy death too much and my evil does like them near you. You are fragile.”
I shrugged, “Well that is comforting but I don’t know. They are Elijah’s and Larus’ friends so they should be trusted a little. After all they are here to fight angels who are trying to kill me. So somewhere deep down they at least care about me a tiny bit.”
“I am grateful for that but I am still not going to leave your side if another evil comes near you.”
“Over protective much.”
With one quick swoop of her wing, she pushed me into the pool. I held my breath and popped back up to the surface and coughed up some water, “So much for relaxing in the pool room.”
She smirked down at me, “Well I am relaxed.”
I grabbed her leg from under the water and pulled her in with me, watching as she gracefully appeared back up at the surface like nothing happened.
“Not so relaxed now, are ya?”
She kept a straight face and responded, “Actually very relaxed now. I love going for a swim and this scenario brings back some memories.”
I splashed some water towards her, “Get away you weirdo. I hate you.”
She quickly wrapped her tail around my waist and pulled me closer, “I love you too.”
Due to our close proximity, I couldn’t help but to relax into her and connect our lips together. The kiss was slow and passionate and not like any other we have shared. She pulled away first and I stared into her eyes that were swirling with different shades of red.
°I love you°
“I love you more”
