EVANORA

Chapter 10

Orchid was sitting on the first finger of the mothers hand in front of the seed tree deep in the forest. She was watching the hand move slightly as if it was dreaming and disturbed by something. It must be Evanora causing the disturbance. She looked at the seed tree and it bowed its very top branch as if to say "yes...go and check on her please" and Orchid flew off through the forest directly to the house. She stopped on the back fence and observed the rooms that had lights on then flew up to look through the windows.

Everything seemed quiet.

The kitchen light was on as was Evanora’s room as well. She flew up to Evanora’s room and in a split second her colourful wings turned to black at the site that befell her eyes. She fluttered and vibrated then vanished only to reappear in front of the seed tree vibrating her black wings and flying frantically to attract attention. The seed tree and the trees in the clearing all listened through quietly to the energy that was shared from Orchid to them and instantly the seed tree turned black as did its flowers and branches that hugged the clearing. The forest trees all cowered down in front of this new seed tree because they knew that it was going to do what ever it could to help Evanora. The trees thrashed around violently and the mothers hand clenched into a fist and the earth shook in its wake.

He placed the mirror up near her mouth and it was only just fogging up. The sleep syrup was too strong and shutting down her vital organs and making them respond sluggishly. He thought that if he injected her again now she would probably die. So he fixed another needle in readiness, put it in his pocket and went out to the shed to collect a shovel. If she was going to die tonight then tonight would be as good a time as any so best he hide the body as quickly as he could and then come back and clean house. He had, give or take, about two hours before the next needle needed to be administered so he cut the bonds on her wrists and ankles once the shovel was retrieved and he threw her almost lifeless body over his right shoulder and commenced walking down the back yard feeling her arms knock up against his legs as he walked and a few little groans escape her her mouth. Even with Evanora on his shoulder he was able to scale the back fence with ease and as soon as his feet thudded on the ground in the paddock the first tree Evanora hugged sent a message back through the forest that something was happening and Evanora was coming back with her father but she wasn’t moving. Something was wrong.

The forest was now ready.....

The forest was mercilessly unforgiving.....

The forest was would protect her......to the end...and beyond.
