Chapter 50: Pursuing Her
Chase Carter took a moment to study Giselle Lambert's expression before he reluctantly settled back into his seat, his enthusiasm waning.
After gathering his turbulent emotions, he spoke with a measured calm, "I respect your decision, Giselle, but I'd like to stay. Would you allow me the chance to look after you?" "Where you choose to go is your own choice; I'm quite capable of taking care of myself," she responded, taking a sip of water.
Chase was about to add something, but the alarm on Giselle's phone interrupted, signaling it was time for her to prepare for today's video.
She held up her phone, tapping on the displayed time to indicate urgency, "I have things to handle. You should head back early and not let this hold up your studies."
"Sure, just take care of yourself and make sure to eat," he replied.
Once Giselle had left the backyard, Chase remained seated for a long while before he finally stood up and left.
At the hotel, he extended his room reservation and called his university to prolong his holiday.
After completing all these arrangements, he went online and bought some small gifts.
He had wooed Giselle before with such gestures and was convinced that he could win her back yet again.
The following morning, Giselle was busy setting the shop, placing each plant in its proper place. Chase, dressed in a worker's outfit, raced over to her.
The island's October air was crisp and refreshing. The young man running under the morning breeze and sunrise was an unforgettable sight, brimming with youthful vigor, as picturesque as a scene from a film. Even though Giselle's feelings had changed, she couldn't deny the cinematic beauty of that moment.
"Giselle, I've brought breakfast for you and your grandma," Chase announced as he handed her a meal box, coaxing her to take a break, "Have something to eat. I've got this covered." Before she could decline, Chase was already bustling about.
But midway through, he paused, hands on hips, assessing the placement of the plants, evidently contemplating their arrangement.
As Giselle watched him over her breakfast, she saw his confusion and walked over to guide him.
"Arrange the flowers by color groups; for instance, group all the white ones here, sorted by their shades," she advised after finishing a bite.
Enlightened, Chase hummed a tune and got back to work, rearranging the flowers and learning how to tidy the potted plants under her guidance, soon performing adeptly.
Normally, Giselle handled the flower shop alone, but today, unexpectedly having an extra pair of hands, they finished their tasks much earlier than usual.
Finding herself with idle time, she pulled out her phone to scroll through the comments on her last night's video, engaging with a few fans.
Several days ago, many of her followers had suggested she try live streaming, a suggestion Giselle hadn't seriously considered until that morning when Instagram's management contacted her. They presented her with a potential earnings report that outlined the financial benefits of live streaming based on her current fan base and popularity.
Honestly, Giselle wasn't keen on live streaming, but the projected earnings were enticing.
Considering that live streaming wasn't much different from recording videos-it was all just dancing-she decided to schedule her first live stream for the night after next.
The platform's management planned to increase her exposure, offering to feature her across the entire network and even purchase some outdoor billboard advertisements. Initially, Giselle was hesitant, especially as she was concerned that Henry Jefferson might recognize her.
However, the management assured her she could retain her anonymity by not removing her mask, preserving her unique style.
Thus, with her considerable fan base and the added promotional efforts, one live stream could potentially double her earnings. Tempted by the prospect, Giselle agreed to the management's strategy.
They spent the morning drafting a detailed promotional plan, which was put into action that very afternoon.
Giselle immersed herself in the dance studio all day, only breaking for lunch, without a glance at her phone.
When her classes concluded in the evening, she was astonished to find her Instagram notifications had exploded.
In just one afternoon, her followers had surged by over half a million from various interest groups, showcasing the management's effective promotional tactics. Given this momentum, the audience for her live stream was set to far exceed her initial expectations.
