Chapter 6
Knight Corporation
Damien entered the premises wearing his usual domineering aura. The faces of his staff lit up as their smoking hot CEO graced everyone with his breathtaking features. Taking off his ray bans, he tucked them in his pocket and sashayed to his private elevator with his bodyguards following him.
But something seemed off to him today.
That euphoric redolence wasn’t there.
His brows puckered in confusion. The atmosphere today was deprived of that sweet vanilla scent. Damien again inhaled only to wheeze as strong perfumes hit his olfactory bulbs. He looked behind only to see a group of women making eyes at him. Damien mentally rolled his eyes at them and slowly looked around, scanning the building.
He saw her on the second floor yesterday. Damien wasted no time and scanned the second floor but couldn’t spot her. His doll was nowhere to be seen which leads him to two conclusions that either she hasn’t arrived or was absent.
But why?
Was she sick? Or did she resign ’cause he scared her?
An uneasy feeling settled in his stomach by this mere thought. But then why was he getting so agitated by a mere human? Why does he care if she stays or leaves?
Frustrated by his feelings, Damien stormed inside the elevator and punched the buttons. The doors closed leaving his bodyguards outside who were too stunned by their boss’ behavior.
Reaching the top floor, Damien exited the elevator only to groan in his mind. He was met with Sophia and Kylie who were looking at him coyly. Kylie was Sophia’s daughter and she had recently joined the office as an intern. When Sophia came to know that Damien will now be joining the office and was looking for a secretary, she immediately made her daughter apply for this job. Though Kylie was not at all qualified for the position of secretary, she took the perks of being the MD’s daughter and made Sophia appoint her by subterfuge.
Damien acknowledged both the women with a nod and approached them. Sophia rushed to him, “Good morning, Sir. It’s an honor to work with you. We are glad that you’ve now joined the office and will be guiding us,” she spoke while smiling widely. Damien didn’t reply and kept moving forward. Their adulations were now getting on his nerves and he was only fearing that he might soon lose his mind.
Kylie then opened the mahogany door for him. Damien checked the interiors of his office. Huge grey walls with large windows draped with silk blinds. A shining round glass table was at the center and a comfy black couch to the left. Damien made his way to the glass window and smiled as he could easily see the entire New York from here. He was contented. The view was splendid and his office was magnificent.
Sophia then cleared her throat a little to grab his attention, “Mr. Knight, Kylie will be your secretary from now on.” She then looked at Kylie who was smiling ear to ear, “Kylie, make sure to be available at Boss’ beck and call and make sure you don’t disappoint him. I hope you do your job well”, saying that she gave her a thumbs up and scurried away.
Kylie kept drooling over Damien’s broad shoulders. Being the secretary of such a hot bachelor was a pipe dream but it turned into her reality. Checking herself in the glass panes, she corrected her rumpled blouse and then looked at Damien who was still watching the skyscrapers of the city.
Kylie was disheartened as Damien didn’t even spare a glance in her way. She chose her best outfit for today. Her tight black skirt that reached her mid-thighs perfectly revealed her long and smooth legs and the outline of her hips. Kylie thought that Damien didn’t find her style attractive so she lifted her skirt a bit and opened the few buttons of her shirt. She then strutted to Damien, swaying her hips, and looked at his jet-black mane.
“Sir, I will be responsible for preparing your schedules and arranging your meetings. My mother had big dreams for me and I assure you I won’t disappoint you and would fulfill your every need,” she spoke the last part in a sultry tone while relishing his cologne.
Damien smirked. He knew what she was trying to do. He then turned around and the first thing he saw was her big boobs spilling from her black bra. Kylie followed his gaze and smirked. She then flipped her hair back and walked into his personal space.
“So, what do you want me to do first?“, she spoke and flashed him a saccharine smile. Damien kept his expressions neutral.
“Hire me a new secretary.”

“That’s all for today.”
With that Professor collected his stuff and exited the class. Soon, the four walls buzzed with the sound of footsteps and voices as people made their way outside the building. Stuffing my books inside my bag, I zipped it and flung it across my shoulders before making my way out of the campus.
It was 5 p.m. so I had still three hours left to go to my mundane job. I wonder how the shape of the office would have changed after the arrival of the CEO. I hope it’s for the best or else I will resign. It’s not like I am not contented with my job, I just want to switch. Moreover, my contract will end by this week and then I’ll be free as a bird. I’ve been looking for companies and have been contacted by some. Regarding that, I have an interview for J.C. Enterprises the day after tomorrow. I need to start preparing for that.
I was in no mood to go through the subway so I flagged down a cab and got inside. Taking out my phone from my jacket, I was going through my emails when I got a call from Stacy.
“Hello”
“Hey do you know the latest news?“, Stacy practically yelled in my ear making me remove the phone.
“No”
“DAMIEN KNIGHT JOINED THE OFFICE FROM TODAY!! HE WOULD BE WORKING WITH US FROM NOW ON!!”
Her voice blasted my eardrums but her words only made me lose my calm. I thought that the flirtatious CEO came only for a day. That’s not a good sign.
“What?“, I screamed out of anxiety. Stacy turned silent after hearing my panicked tone making me bite my tongue.
“I mean Oh, that’s great”, I let out a laugh to ease the air. Which did work ’cause I heard her laughing from the other line.
“Yeah, it is but you know what’s surprising more?”
I frowned at her mischievous tone, “Well I would know if you tell me.”
“Uh-uh, that won’t work. Say please.” She chuckled. I could imagine her wiggling her brows.
“Want me to hang up on you?”
“No, wait! Jeez. You’re no fun. Ok listen, so first is that Kylie got fired on her first day, second, Boss was furious with Sophia for appointing her non-qualified daughter as his secretary and suspended her. And lastly, the CEO had shortlisted a few candidates and will be interviewing them personally for the secretary’s position.”
My jaw dropped. That was seriously shocking. Kylie was Sophia’s daughter and I knew she was the worst version of Veronica. But surprisingly, Richie Rich didn’t like her when she equally matched his taste.
I leaned my head on the headrest while enjoying the view through the window, “Alright but what’s that have to do with us. We are in the technical section.” I answered her in a bored tone.
“That’s the twist, Honey.” Stacy chirped making me confused.
“What?”
“The Boss had removed this restriction. Managers even advised him to only hire the business graduates and experienced candidates for this job but he didn’t lend them an ear. Mr. Knight went through the biodata of each employee today and had by evening, he finalized a list of all the qualified candidates,” she replied. Her words turned me to silence.
I was still comprehending her words when she threw another bomb at me.
“And the best part of today’s news is that your name is on top of the list. You will be interviewed first.”
