Chapter 65
Chapter 65
Whenever Dorothy upset Ragnar In the past, she only needed to shed some tears and wail about how she had almost died for him. That alone had always worked to appease the man.
At that time, she thought she had managed to move the frosty Ragnar. Yet, she later learned that Ragnar had been doting on her solely because she was his savior.
Just like when she refused to accept Danny and Manny, Ragnar called off the engagement with her and commented that he would rather let her have her freedom than be bogged down in life.
She was just as surprised back then.
Still, after pondering deeper, Dorothy finally discovered the meaning behind Ragnar’s decision. The man had only wished to get himself a wife.
Dorothy, coincidentally, could not be more fitting because she was his savior.
After the engagement cancellation, Dorothy regretted it. However, owing to her pride, she had not been taking the initiative to talk to Ragnar about it.
At first, Dorothy thought that Ragnar would come looking for her in time. Sadly, not only had he not come to her, but he had even gotten married to
some random woman.
There was no way Dorothy could have stood it.
She had to have Ragnar back by her side, for she truly loved him.

As soon as the duo set foot in the guest room, Dorothy reached out to wrap her hands around Ragnar’s thin waist.
“I really regret it, Ragnar, Will you give me one more chance?” Dorothy cried out, leaning her head against the man’s back.
“That nanny doesn’t deserve you at all, much less qualify to be the mother of Danny and Manny. Ragnar, let me be by your side instead, will you?” added Dorothy as she hugged him and refused to let go.
Being held by her like this, Ragnar was very uncomfortable. He pried Dorothy’s fingers away and took a few steps back to keep a distance from her.
“I’m a married man now. Please watch your behavior. My wife wouldn’t be that generous in tolerating this act of yours.”
Josephine’s face was the first image that appeared in Ragnar’s mind when he spoke.
“Had she seen Dorothy hugging me like this, would she have gotten mad at me?” he mused.
No matter, Dorothy could never accept the fact that Ragnar had already walked down the aisle with another woman. She pounced onto the man once more and tried to continue having him in her embrace, appearing extremely wronged.
“Have you forgotten it already, Ragnar? I was the one who saved you when you were viciously attacked,” said Dorothy. Tears began rolling down her cheeks.
She quickly went on, “That was the time you said you’d take responsibility and protect me forever. Yet, now you’re telling me to back off because you’ve gotten married to someone else? Are you dumping me already?”
Dorothy broke down in tears, for she was well aware that as long as she pulled the crying act, Ragnar would definitely give in to her, just like he had always done so.
“Can we start over anew, Ragnar? I don’t want to be separated from you. You can get a divorce from that nanny and offer her monetary compensation. After that, we can go back to the old days. Let me be the mother of the kids, okay? I promise I’ll treat them as my own and also be a loving wife. I won’t be willful anymore,” pleaded Dorothy as she gazed at Ragnar affectionately.
Ragnar’s heart did not even flutter one bit as he listened to those words. “That’s a little too late, don’t you think? I’m already married, and I have a wife now. Also, I believe you should know better that I’ll never get a divorce.”
Upon hearing that, Dorothy was even more unwilling to yield.
She pressed on, “No, Ragnar, it’s not too late. She’s but a nanny. You two are married for the children’s sake, not for love. Besides, you haven’t known her for long. What if she actually had an ulterior motive to get close to you? We, on the other hand, are nothing like that. Not only have we known each other for four years, but our parents are also supportive of our relationship. Give me one more chance, Ragnar, please. I love you. I can’t live without you.”
Dorothy’s eyes were full of tears as she pinned her expectant gaze on Ragnar and nervously waited for an answer.
Truth be told, Josephine had already awakened the moment Dorothy knocked on the bedroom door. The former had seen Ragnar went to answer the door and heard Dorothy’s cry right after that.
Josephine followed them to the guest room and stopped outside before witnessing Dorothy crying her heart out.
Just as Dorothy hugged Ragnar tightly and pronounced her love to the man, Josephine was conflicted about her own feelings, so she froze and stood
there in a daze.
Even though Josephine could not see Ragnar’s expression at that juncture, she noticed that he did not seem to have the intention of turning Dorothy
down.
“Well, they once had feelings for each other, after all, Josephine pondered. With that, she spun around and prepared to go back to her bedroom.

> Just then, a series of cries rang out from the baby room.
Obviously, the child had to have woken up.
Josephine snapped out of her thoughts and rushed into the baby room.
The moment she walked in, Danny and Manny immediately stopped crying
It was as though the kids could recognize that it was Josephine just by listening to her footsteps.
Josephine then prepared the baby formula for Danny and Manny straight away. As she looked at the babies enjoying their fill of milk from the milk bottles, a grin spread across her face.
Just like that, Josephine watched Danny and Manny as they gulped down the milk. Instead of leaving as soon as possible, she chose to stay longer in the room with the kids.
Thinking of Ragnar and Dorothy behaving all lovey–dovey a while ago, Josephine somehow felt strange.
However, she could not tell what the reason could be to have triggered such emotions in her.
Josephine looked at Danny and Manny while patting them gently and humming songs to coax them to sleep.
Danny and Manny drank the milk with their eyes closed. After finishing the milk, they soon fell asleep.
As for Josephine, she, too, fell asleep unconsciously beside the crib when she was coaxing Danny and Manny.
In the meantime, Ragnar was still with Dorothy.
Facing Dorothy’s endless sobbing, Ragnar frowned and uttered in a displeased tone, “It’s over between us. Because of the good terms shared between. the Smith family and the Levine family, I’ll arrange for someone to send you back tomorrow.”
“No! I don’t want that!”
Dorothy declined without a second thought.
The last thing she wanted was to leave that place, considering that Ragnar had already wedded another woman.
Since she had made up her mind to come to him, she naturally had to make Ragnar hers again.
Therefore, even if Ragnar were to kick her out, she would still not leave.
“If you insist, so be it, but you’d best stop messing around while you’re here.” Ragnar’s voice reeked of utter iciness. He had put forward all the words he had to say to the woman.
“Ragnar…”
Dorothy held back her words, knowing that any further attempts of pushing the matter would not do her any good.
For the time being, she would have to agree to Ragnar’s terms as she continued to figure out another plan.
“It’s getting late. Go to bed.” Ragnar turned around and left after saying that.
Seeing Ragnar leave without even looking back, made Dorothy so furious that the air around her turned grim altogether.
“I’m really going to lose Ragnar this time. What should I do now? I love him so much. I’ll never let some nanny snatch him from me! Just wait, Josephine! I’ll make sure to drive you out of the Levine family myself!” she shouted internally.
With that, she slammed the door shut to vent her resentment.
Ragnar returned to the bedroom, only to see Josephine, who should have been sleeping, no longer in bed.
Worried, he felt his heart lufch as he furrowed his brows.
He searched around the bedroom, but Josephine was nowhere to be found.
“Where could that woman have gone in the middle of the night?” he wondered.
Ragnar went downstairs and looked around the mansion. Still, not a trace of Josephine could be detected.
Finally, he thought of the baby room.
He pushed open the door to the baby room and walked inside. Even under the dim light, he could see the woman lying beside the crib at first glance.
The moment Josephine came into sight, Ragnar’s anxiety vanished and was replaced by a sense of relief.
He paced slowly toward Josephine. Noticing that she was sleeping soundly, Ragnar bent forward and carried her without hesitation.
As soon as Ragnar had her in his arms, he was stunned.
“Has she been having proper meals all this while? Why’s she so light?” he muttered to himself.
Josephine, in turn, woke up just as she was picked up by Ragnar.
