Defeating My Ex-Husband by Tracy Estrada ( Colton Zeller )

Chapter 12

Chapter 12 Is She A Sugar Baby

“Ms. Shelley, you…”

Noticing Francesca’s sullen mood, Marcus, who had been standing nearby, quickly approached to ask after her.

In the midst of basking in the well–wishes of the other guests, Elsa happened to witness the scene. At once, a plan formed in her mind.

Thus, under her subtle hints, the crowd’s attention gradually shifted to Francesca.

“Wasn’t Ms. Beckman abroad? Why has she suddenly returned? Could something have happened?”

“She couldn’t make it abroad, of course! The Zeller family aren’t there, after all…” The speaker seemed to realize she had misspoken. Without thinking, she clapped a hand over her mouth.

Elsa did not seem to mind at all. Instead, she stroked her belly tenderly. “I’m very happy being with Colt. Though Francesca made the wrong choice, we would still help her out.”

Every single one of those present was shrewd.

One is the ex–wife who isn’t favored by Colton, and the other is the pregnant future Mrs. Zeller. Anyone with a brain would know who he would choose

And so, through the distortion and exaggeration of the information disseminated by the crowd, Francesca became a pitiful woman who failed to make it abroad and returned to her country in despair, only to be taken care of by somebody else.

strange looks from the crowd were enough for her to realize that something was off.

“Should I go and find out what’s going on?” Marcus, sensing that something was off, asked Francesca at once.

Francesca shook her head, the sarcasm on her lips becoming more. evident. Her discerning gaze fell on Elsa, who was wearing a smug smile. not far away. “No need. People like these are only good at telling eloquent lies.”

Back when she was brought back to the Shelley family for the first time, she experienced things far more disgusting than those gazes. Compared to that, what she was currently experiencing was nothing in comparison.

Marcus was somewhat puzzled by Francesca’s calm expression. “Why won’t you let me announce your identity? These people wouldn’t dare to gossip so openly behind your back if they know you have the support of the Fashn Group behind you.”

Francesca’s gaze swept across the meeting room. “Now is not the time.”

She also had to deal with the despicable Beckman family, who have tried every means to take advantage of her; she was determined to make them confess.

She did not expect that the Beckman family would fall to such a state where they would fail to even get an invitation to the Zeller family’s banquet in the short span of five years.

“Watch out!”

Marcus‘ warning sounded while Francesca was lost in thought. Nimbly, Francesca dodged to the side, and a glass of champagne splashed onto the floor.

Then, a sharp–faced woman appeared from somewhere. “I’m sorry, Ms. Beckman. I didn’t do it on purpose,” she apologized without sounding at all sorry.

Then, she winked at a group of women not far away, who burst into raucous laughter.

Marcus scowled, not expecting to encounter such despicable behavior at the Zeller family’s banquet.

Just as he was about to speak up, Francesca stopped the smug, sharp–faced woman who was about to leave with a blank expression. “Aren’t you

forgetting something?”

The sharp–faced woman shrugged indifferently. “I’ve already apologized. What more do you want?”

After I notified Elsa, she gave me the signal to teach Francesca a lesson. I saw the perfect opportunity and took it by striking first

Francesca stared at her for a moment, then snatched a glass of wine from an adjacent table and emptied its contents over the woman’s head.

The sharp–faced woman did not expect Francesca to dare do such a thing at the Zeller family’s banquet. The icy cold drink sent a shiver down her spine, causing her to let out a piercing scream.
