The veins in my right arm were busted now. They tried jabbing me with the needle too many times.
They were successful on the left arm.
The adrenaline almost made the blood spurt everywhere.
Somewhere too far for me to see, Goldie was nearby, screaming for me. I should have carried a plant for her like she had asked me months ago.
I didn’t see any nearby plants now.
I couldn’t see much at all now.
I thought the IV would be to take blood from me; it was filling me with something that made me drowsy and my skin itch.
Felix wasn’t here yet.
Akiya wasn’t here yet.
My limbs were interlocked in place, held tight with straps and buckles.
My fault for this.
Goldie’s voice was gruff when she yelled.
Chaos around me now. Hollering. Cussing.
Behind my eyelids, shadows danced. The air was sticky. Things slammed.
An engine.
The crunch of gravel and sticks being broken underfoot.
Beeping now. My heart rate matched the beeping.
Felix, where are you?
A fog. Green fog.
Exhaustion was thick.
Where was Goldie?
My fault, again.
Cade had to know.
Darkness sucked me in.
