Chapter 27
Daisy the real victim. When she stood in front of everyone, saying she was wronged, not a single soul believed her. Even Sherry insisted that Daisy was the guilty one.
“That’s cruel. Yvonne made a mistake, sure, but you can’t just use your power to bully her. You’ve forced Yvonne to leave school. Are you happy now?” Laura cried, wiping her tears as if she and Yvonne were sisters.
Daisy stood up, towering over her. “Oh really? I’m bullying her with my power? Wasn’t Yvonne the one who tried to hide the truth using her status? I’m just helping everyone figure out who their friends and enemies are so they don’t get played.”
Laura was desperate to defend Yvonne. “This is absurd. Yvonne has already been expelled, and no school wants her. Can’t you just let it go? She understands she messed up. Why can’t you give her another chance?”
As Laura rambled on and tried to turn everyone against Daisy, she didn’t realize her attempt made her look worse in everyone’s eyes. People could tell who was worth being friends with, and they weren’t buying what Laura was selling.
Watching Laura’s dramatic performance, Daisy couldn’t help but roll her eyes. “Why should I care if she can’t go to school? You think I just an ordinary girl, can change the minds of headmasters?”
Hearing that, Laura started to rethink everything. After all, Daisy was benefiting the most from this situation, and besides Daisy, Yvonne hadn’t gotten on the wrong side of anyone else. Doubts crept into Laura’s mind. She wondered if it really had nothing to do with Daisy.
“Daisy, can you talk to the school and ask them not to expel Yvonne?” Laura begged, tears welling up in her eyes as she stared at Daisy, looking as if she was the one bearing all the injustice.
Daisy rolled her eyes. “Why should I? Yvonne needs to pay for what she did. She stole from me this time. Who’s to say she won’t target one of you next?”
Her cold voice echoed in the ears of every student in the classroom, prompting a wave of whispers. Everyone had their own thoughts, and when things didn’t concern them, they acted like they didn’t care. But what would happen if they were all involved?
Laura stammered, struggling to find words. She could hear the gossip around her, doubts creeping in. Sure, she was close to Yvonne, but what if Yvonne decided to steal from her next time?
Watching her hesitate, Oliver jumped in, his voice firm. “No way I believe Yvonne isn’t like that. Come on, Laura, she’s your best friend. How can you not trust her?”
Laura felt tempted to agree, but her worry about her own property pulled her back. In the end, her own interests came first.
Daisy glanced at Laura, a smirk appearing on her face. It was almost sad to think Yvonne had a friend like her-someone so selfish and self-centered.
Glancing around the room, Daisy noticed the fearful looks from her classmates. Satisfied, she strutted out of the classroom.
As Oliver glared at the selfish Laura, resentment began to bubble within him. Compared to Daisy, he despised Laura even more.
Meanwhile, Daisy wandered along a path in the campus woods, feeling lost. Before she knew it, she had reached Lance’s convenience store. Sitting at a tree-shaded table, she pulled out her broken bracelet, her eyes drifting off.
“What are you doing here all alone? Lance suddenly appeared, siding into the chair beside her.
Slowly snapping back to reality, she glanced at him, a spark of curiosity in her eyes. Just getting some fresh air. What about you? Aren’t you busy?”
Daisy looked at the line outside the store and then at the laid-back owner, feeling a bit sorry for Harley-he had such a lazy boss.
“Want me to grab some snacks for you?” Lance asked, scanning Daisy’s face.
Daisy saw the crowd inside and shook her head. “No thanks, save it for your future wife”
Lance smiled at her and leaned a little closer, his expression turning serious. “Actually, I’ve got my eye on someone. Just not sure if she feels the same way.
Feeling uncomfortable, Daisy gently pushed him away. “Come on, enough with the teasing. Don’t you have work to do?” Lance shrugged, not bothered by her change of subject. Instead, he leaned back in his chair in disappointment, crossing his legs with a relaxed grin. “Don’t you think this kind of life is pretty chill? Every day is an adventure.”
Watching Lance relax, Daisy fell silent, gripping the bracelet tightly in her hands. There were still things she needed to finish, and she couldn’t let her guard down just yet. Not everyone had the freedom to choose their own life.
After a moment of silence, Lance noticed Daisy’s confused expression. He tilted his head slightly and asked, “Do you try fixing your bracelet?”
Immediately, the topic caught all of Daisy’s attention, and her eyes lit up with excitement. She turned to him, her voice filled with hope. “Really? Can it be fixed?”
Lance nodded. “Sure, but you should know that even if I fix it, it won’t be exactly how it was before.” He wanted to manage her expectations. Disappointment wasn’t something he wanted to see on her face,
He paused for a moment, letting his words sink in. “The choice is yours.”
Daisy’s expression shifted as she processed what he said, her grip on the bracelet tightening. After a moment of deep thought, she looked up at Lance, determination shining in her eyes. “I trust you, so I’ll let you fix it.” Her gaze was steady, conveying her hope that he wouldn’t let her down.
Lance noticed the weight of her trust in her eyes. He slowly nodded in response. “Alright, let’s go. I know a place that can help.
