This time when Carmine’s gaze fell on Kade, Ruby and Ivy, she didn’t become nervous. Instead, she faced them confidently. With a confident stride and chin held high, she walked across the main hall, meeting their stare head-on.
The dignitaries present parted in order to form a way for the Alpha Supreme and his Luna and bowed to both of them as they walked.
Carmine’s chest swelled with pride as she saw how people reacted to Theo and her. Overwhelmed with emotions, when her hand tightened around his arm, he leaned over to her and whispered, “Your tight grip on me is making things increasingly hard.”
“What do you mean?” she asked, her eyes going round at the corner.
“I’m sure that people can notice the tent in my pants,” he whispered, glancing down at his pants.
Carmine blushed heavily when her eyes went to the obvious tent down there and, unknowingly, she clutched his arm tighter.
“Ah!” he hissed. “If we weren’t at the party, I would have thrown you on the carpet and f ucked you senseless.”
She smacked him lightly. “Behave yourself!”
They finally reached the end of the hall, where a higher platform showcased two elegant wingback chairs, beckoning them to take a seat. As soon as they were seated, the music started. One by one, the Alphas and Lunas under Theo came to express solidarity. and present him with gifts. Seated on Theo’s lap, Thor watched everyone with amazement. Soon, he got tired and Una took him home.
When Kade came along with his mother and wife, he bowed to them and gave Carmine a red velvet box. “This is a small diamond n*ecklace for Luna Carmine,” he said with a sad face. “My intention was to give it to her as a wedding gift, but now I realize it serves no purpose for me.”
As Carmine’s b*dy stiffened, Theo’s narrowed eyes bore into him, emanating waves of anger. In the first instance, Theo wanted to throw the box out of the window, but he knew that there were many guests who had their eyes glued to them to witness a potential drama.
“Thank you, Alpha Kade,” Carmine said softly and accepted the gift, handling the situation deftly. She considered the consequences of rejecting the gift and knew it would only pique people’s curiosity, so she decided to accept it instead, putting their curiosity to rest. She looked ahead to give them the sign that she was done. Feeling ruffled and flustered, Kade moved back, allowing others to present their gifts.

When they were standing far away from the Alpha Supreme and his Luna, Kade growled, “This is humiliating, mother! I can’t stand her attitude.”
“Move on, Kade,” Ruby said in a low voice filled with warning. “If you do anything stu pid, Alpha Theo is going to be extremely upset!”
“F uck off,” he snarled at her. “Had it not been for you, I would have been mated to Carmine.”
“Stop it, Kade!” she hissed. “It’s not that you didn’t have a choice to marry her. You could have married her the moment you saw her. But you didn’t. And you failed the only chance the Moon Goddess gave you. So stop moping and think of something else.”
Ivy scoffed. “Of course. What else can you expect from a Beta’s daughter other than rotten jealousy?”
Ruby’s eyes was the reason you chose me over Carmine?”
widened. “Yes, I have Beta blood running in me. Remember, th
Ivy shrugged. “Yes. If I had known about Carmine’s legacy. I wouldn’t have chosen. you.”
Feeling terribly insulted, Ruby’s throat choked up. Tears brimmed in her eyes and she felt like slapping Ivy. Instead, she fought back the tears and quietly walked away from that place. She needed air, and she needed revenge. No one had ever humiliated her to this level. She stormed outside the main hall towards a thicket. Her revenge was going to be exemplary. Inhaling deeply, she resolved to reveal the truth about Kade and Ivy to Carmine, but first, she needed to find a way to speak to her alone.
Ruby looked towards the main hall and saw people dancing to the orchestra’s soft. lilting tune. The desire to shift and bolt towards the forest to blow off some steam arose within her, but she controlled her inner wolf. In order to begin her plan, she relied on that anger. With clenched fists, she wiped the tears from her cheeks.
The city hall was a large building resembling a museum. The structure possessed a dome-shaped ceiling and was constructed using white marble. It was built by Alpha Theo to mark his victory over ninety percent packs of werewolves. Enveloped by a vibrant garden, the beautiful structure served primarily as a venue for large gatherings. The wedding reception of the Alpha and Luna was the largest event hosted in it.
Ruby made her way around the main hall and headed to the back, where she observed numerous busy cooks and omegas. There was a back entrance. Using that, she navigated her way to the dining room that was next to the main hall. Since the dinner was laid out in the west garden under a large canopy, this room was empty. She took a
ep breath in and wrote a message on a tissue paper. Although she had the option to give it to her directly, she chose to seek out a guard positioned at the back door of the

main hall. “Could you do me a favor and deliver this to Luna Carmine?” she asked the guard. “There’s something very urgent I’d like to discuss with her.”
The guard was startled. “But Luna Carmine is busy. And I believe it would be better if you give her.”
She smiled. “I can’t. That’s why I have written that message.”
The guard gave her a wary look, but he knew who she was and so he couldn’t disregard her request. So he bowed to her and went to the main hall to give the tissue to Carmine.
There were a few people standing on the stage, talking to them. Theo was engaged in some conversation about business over waters in the east. Seizing the chance, the guard approached her on the floor next to the platform. “Luna Carmine,” he said in a low voice. When she turned her face to him, he gave her the message. “This is given by Luna of the Blue Moon pack.”
Carmine frowned as she took the paper from him. The guard bowed and quickly retreated. As she opened the paper, her eyes scanned the words written inside: ‘Carmine, I know this may sound absurd, but there’s something crucial I need to talk to you about concerning Kade and Ivy. They are onto something which I don’t like. If you choose to come out and listen to me, maybe I will get out of my misery. Consider this as my gift for your wedding. I am waiting for you in the washroom.
The doubt sparked within Carmine as she read her message, but she had sensed Ruby’s anguish when Kade handed her the n*ecklace gift. Ruby winced when Kade said that he had bought it for their wedding. She wondered if she should talk about this to Theo, but he was so busy that she decided to deal on her own.
“I’ll be right back,” she said to Theo.
Theo’s brows furrowed. “Where are you going?”
“Washroom.”
He smiled and nodded. She lifted her wedding gown and made her way towards the washroom. What awaited her in the bathroom was beyond anything she had imagined.
