Chapter 4
Chapter 4.
Zora
Lori immediately ran towards Casey, she dug her perfectly manicured nails into Casey’s arm, shaking him frantically to make him snap out of his trance.
“What are we going to do?” She asked, her voice laced with panic.
Instead of reacting to the situation we had on our hands, Casey got up and started to comfort Lori, he told her everything was going to be alright. But I really doubt that.
Anyway, I had to do something.
“Go call all the warriors.” I quickly told the maid, and she nodded and then headed out of the room.
I got up and was about to rush to the Pack House, Casey and Lori followed suit.
When we almost reached the door of the House, I saw Dustin was heading our way as well.
“Alpha Casey, Luna Zora, I was about to…”
I raised my hand to stop him.
“We already know, we need to gather the Warriors now,” I instructed.
and Dustin nodded to follow my order, but before he could mind-link the Warriors, Casey spoke.
“Dustin, take Lori to somewhere safe.” He ordered while wrapping his hand around Lori’s
shoulder to guide her to Dustin. I frowned.
“If you want to marry her, then she has to act like a Luna.”
Hearing this, Lori shook her head immediately.
“No, I’m just a secretary, I don’t know anything.”
I looked over to Casey to try to see if he would do the right thing, he just shook his head and pushed Lori towards Dunstin again.
“Take care of her.” He said, and then he turned to me, “You will resume your duty as Luna.”
And Dustin, not wanting to get involved in this situation, only gestured for Lori to go with him. Lori was only happy to oblige.
But I was immediately livid. I wasn’t so angry when he pushed me down, now that I saw his true intention, I couldn’t help but feel the rage built up inside me.
“So this is what you really want, right? You want to keep me as the Luna so she could be your lover safely, while I go fight your war for you two?”
“You could say whatever you want after we faced the Moonhunter’s attack.” He told me calmly while reaching out to grab my wrist, which somehow made me even angrier.
I thought about the days we fought off rogue attacks together, now we were going to fight together again, but under many different circumstances.
I shook off his grip on my wrist. I couldn’t bear the thought of him touching me, it was so disgusting. Not only was he cheating on me, he was rotten inside out. I turned around to continue making my way out of the House, and towards the Pack House. Casey was calling me from behind.
“Zora…”
But as my pace quickened, I could no longer hear him. That was when the memories returned.
When we first got married, he tried to convince me to quit being a Warrior, because it was too dangerous, he didn’t want me to get hurt during training or war. But I stood proudly and told him that my destined place was beside him, so I would fight alongside him as his Luna. He held my hand to his face and kissed the back of my hand, he told me that he would never let me get hurt.
Now, he slapped me and pushed me for another woman. And he was even sending me to war so his beloved fated mate could hide away safely.
I laughed at the irony of everything. I really needed to leave him after this.
After walking out of the house, a car came to a screeching halt right in front of me. I didn’t recognize the car but I think I knew the person driving it. It was Alpha Cruz driving with Alpha Asher in the passenger seat.
“Alpha Casey, get in now! The Moonhunter already took over Blue Howler and Demonclaw Prowlers. Now he’s heading here, we need to leave now!” Alpha Cruz yelled from the car.
I heard some footsteps from behind, it seemed that Casey saw them as well. I turned my head to the back seat to find Eloise and Summer, but they were not there.
“Where are your Lunas?” I asked them.
“She’s not even my fated mate, she is the Luna and she is supposed to be left behind.” Alpha Cruz said, and Alpha Asher nodded along with him.
I clenched my fist at this. I was so angry, because I knew that Eloise and Summer weren’t their fated mates, and they suffered a lot because of it, still, they treated them like some disposable garbage that they could throw away anytime they wanted.
“You…”
Just as I was about to lash out, Casey came with Lori.
“Get in the car,” Casey said to Lori.
And he had to push me to the side because I was right by the car door, in order for Lori to get in the car. And then he got in the back seat as well.
So he was leaving me behind like Cruz and Asher did to their Lunas. It wasn’t expected since he already had his heart set on Lori, but it was another thing to leave me there alone to deal with the enemy.
Just as I was wallowing in my self-pity, Casey reached his hand out to me impatiently.
“What are you waiting for? Get in the car now.” He said.
I took his hand but just as I was about to get in the car. I heard a lot of footsteps behind me. I knew from my instinct that they belonged to the enemies. And Cruz’s words confirmed that.
“We need to go now! They are here already! Shut the door!”
Hearing this I immediately held Casey’s hand tighter. But he let go after he saw the person behind me, his eyes widened but he quickly shut the door.
And I was left here, when I watched the tail of the car drive away, speeding for their lives.
I wanted to chase them, I wanted to curse Casey for doing this to me, and I wanted to curse Cruz and Asher for leaving their chosen mates behind. But just when I moved my feet to run after them, I heard a loud voice from behind.
“Where do you think you are going?!”
