Chapter 23 The Real Vixen

On the side, Carlisle’s eyes flared with anger as he watched Keira’s cutting words strike his sister like a cold slap.

Keira’s words were too blunt and cruel. While the Longhalls were a prominent family, and Cyn’s naive meddling in their marriage might lead to trouble, he couldn’t comprehend why Keira had to be so mean and harsh with his sister.

Carlisle’s smile felt like a brittle mask as he urged Torry, “Let’s not keep the wine waiting, eh? Miss Spitfire here might decide it’s hers alone to enjoy.”

He gave the waiter a curt nod, signaling him to distribute the alcohol to the rest of their friends.

“Cyn’s young, passionate, says what’s on her mind. Don’t hold it against her, Keira. He lifted his glass, the clink of crystal echoing the tension in the air

For wealthy and elite families like theirs, having friends outside of marriage was no big deal, but rubbing your spouse’s nose in it like what Cynthia did with Victor in front of Keira? That was a first and a major social faux pas

Even though Keira’s family wasn’t as outstanding as Cynthia’s, she was still Victor’s legal wife. And in front of everyone, young and maybe a bit clueless, Cynthia tried to pull a power move. Keira wouldn’t be happy about that, not one bit.

“Odd, isn’t it? I remember Ms. Longhall was older than me. But Keira pushed her milk aside, her gaze fixed on Victor’s untouched Magellan. The alluring blue liquid made her mouth water.

“I have to say, being single has its perks. One can claim their youth forever, no shame! Gotta love that.” She chuckled lightly, meeting Victor’s intense stare, his eyes devouring her like a feast.

Cynthia, squirming under Keira’s icy glare, felt like she was sitting on thorns. Tears welled up in her eyes as she turned to Victor, pleading. “Vic-”

Startled from his trance, Victor finally looked at Cynthia, her face crumpled, and impatiently snapped, “What?”

His cold words, tinged with barely controlled anger, cut through the air, silencing Cynthia instantly.

Keira, her lips curved in a sly smile, reached out to caress Victor’s chin. “Hold on, Torry. Did you miss Ms. Longhall’s entire wine spiel? She had practically given you a masterclass just a moment ago.”

Seeing Victor resting his head on her hand, Keira’s heart softened even more. The anger towards Cynthia diminished slightly. “How embarrassing for you to keep staring at me like this.”

“Why would I listen to her? Apart from you, there’s no one else I would care about” Victor declared as he turned his head to look earnestly at his wife.

“Then, what about the Magellan?” Keira teasingly lifted the cup with her fingers, flipping it lightly.

“Forget about it.” Victor could sense Keira was seething, and he felt a warm current surging in his heart, eager to embrace his jealous wife immediately.

However, his wife’s anger had not subsided yet.

Keira wasn’t here for Cynthia. Carlisle was her real target, the one who had been tripping her up all along and the thorn in her side.

Didn’t he say she was a conniving and pretentious vixen? Well, she would show him what a real conniving and pretentious

vixen was like.

She smirked, releasing her grip on the glass with a flick of the wrist. A scream tore from her throat as it smashed on the floor, sending shards flying. Tears welled up as she flung herself into Victor’s arms. “OMG! Torry, I’m scared

The sweet smile Cynthia plastered on for Victor vanished quicker than spilled water as she saw her carefully chosen gift – the fancy Magellan wine – lying in shattered pieces on the floor.

Her round face flushed with anger, and a fierce growl escaped her lips.

“Hey!” she snarled, ready to unlradh, but Carlisle stopped her in her tracks.

Cynthia looked up, meeting Victor’s gaze a chilling abyss that froze her blood and sent tremors through her legs.

+5 Free Coins

Victor, seeing Cynthia subdued, softened his stance. He lowered his head and patted Keira’s back gently. “It’s alright, my love. Don’t be scared, his voice a soothing balm against the earlier tension.

Keira’s pout, a blend of genuine hurt and calculated act, was enough to win an Oscar.

Her eyes, already smoldering under the makeup, burned with a staged jealousy that sent shivers down Victor’s spine. His whole body tensed, responding to the hidden fire beneath her façade.

“Of course not,” he murmured, his grip tightening around her waist, drawing her closer like a lifeline in the storm.

Keira could feel Victor’s hand burning through the layer of fabric.

She wasn’t happy with his answer and continued to jab at Cynthia. “But Ms. Longhall looks like she’s about to cry! Is that wine super expensive: I’ll pay her back if it is”

Victor, eyes glued to Keira, couldn’t care less about Cynthia. He whipped out a card and slapped it on the table. “Consider it paid

Cynthia watched the card land on the table, like her carefully chosen gift from abroad tossed in the trash. The sincerity she offered Victor tossed aside for this. this woman. She couldn’t help but bite her teeth as she held back a murderous glare.

“Oh, you’re the sweetest. Torry! Keira purred, kissing his ear and snuggling into him.

“Hmm.. I’m feeling a bit sleepy,” she yawned, tugging at his sleeve.

Victor rose, his shadow engulfing Keira as he draped his coat over her like a shield. They exited, and the room seemed to exhale, the suffocating pressure finally lifted.

Whispers snaked through the air, a mix of awe and apprehension. How could Victor be the same man who doted on his delicate wife and scared the living daylights out of everyone else?

Carlisle, red–faced and fuming, kicked the table like a petulant toddler. He spat at Otto, his voice dripping with venom, “Did you see that? That woman, a conniving vixen, wrapped around him like a vine, draining him dry!”

In Victor’s car. Keira snuggled deeper into his arms, enjoying the warmth. The second the door slammed shut, Victor pulled her close and asked, his eyes, once icy, now sparkling with mischief, “Are you still jealous, my love?”

He looked at Keira expectantly, eager for a response.

Keira snorted, a dismissive puff of air. Jealous of Cynthia? Please!”

“It’s more about Carlisle constantly staring at me like I’m some sort of seductress, I didn’t like it, so I decided to play the part. Better than him treating me like a target, right?”

Victor’s sulking silence told her he wasn’t getting the desired answer. Sensing his mood, Keira sat up. “Hey, Torry,” she called, Victor awkwardly avoiding her gaze.

She sat up, her voice sweet and teasing. “What’s with the frown? Didn’t get your jealous fix?”

The man mumbled a reply, his eyes flitting away. With a knowing smile. Keira hiked up her skirt and lowered the car divider. She landed on his lap smoothly, straddling him with a mischievous glint in her eyes.

Her eyes, smoldering with playful charm, lifted his chin, forcing him to meet her gaze, her voice laced with mock threat, “Tasten Michelangelo, if you bring one more of these flirty messes into our lives.. I’ll make you wish you were a statue… frozen in stone

The touch of her skirt sent a jolt through Victor, but he quickly took control, the playful spark returning to his eyes.
