The security guards dared not confront Keira directly. They knew Victor would not tolerate them angering her, even if Keira did not report to him. 

Thus, the security guards could only stand still and block Keira’s way until Carlisle Longhall, who worked in the president’s office, emerged from the elevator. 

Carlisle came from a prestigious family in the capital. As the second child, he would not inherit the family business, so he had been working for Victor and was one of Victor’s most capable assistants. Of course, he was also staunchly opposing Keira alongside Otto. 

The security guards breathed a sigh of relief when they saw Carlisle coming out of the elevator. 

“Mr. Longhall, you’re finally here Colin wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead and smiled at Carlisle.

“This person said that Victor is away. How is he now in the company?” Keira asked with mock humility. 

Carlisle glanced at Keira indifferently. “What the president does is a trade secret. I’m sorry, but I can’t tell you too much. Let me know if you need anything. As the president’s assistant, I’ll do my best to help you.” 

Keira sneered inwardly. His words seemed respectful enough, but there was nothing respectful about his tone. 

“I’m his wife, and I want to see him. Can you help me with that, Mr. Longhall?” Keira maintained her smile. Her years of experience in the entertainment industry have taught her how to manage her facial expressions. 

Carlisle’s expression darkened, and his voice turned colder. “Ms. Sunter, if you can’t support your husband’s career as his wife and only cause him trouble, then you are incompetent. Moreover, he is busy with important matters. I’m afraid he doesn’t have time to see you.” 

“Whether Victor has time to see me is for him to decide. However, are you sure you have the power to stop me from entering?” Keira restrained her smile and looked at Carlisle sternly. 

“Did Victor arrange for you to stop me at the door?” Her tone rose, and her entire demeanor changed significantly. 

She admitted she had been terrible before and owed Victor a lot. But this was her matter with him. She had never wronged 

others. 

At home, she tolerated the servants and Mr. Cruz out of mutual respect. She knew they were concerned about Victor. 

However, Carlisle accused her and caused her trouble before everyone. People would think she was a pushover if she did not fight back. Then, everyone would try to take advantage of her. 

“If you truly care about Mr. Byrom, you shouldn’t come to cause trouble when he’s busy” Carlisle confronted Keira. He had long harbored hatred against her. 

Krira’s expression darkened intimidatingly. She focused on Carlisle, glaring daggers at him. Her voice was low and threatening “Mr. Longhall, you have exceeded your authority. This is the Byrom Corporation and not your family’s company. As an assistant, you must convey my message to Victor. It’s not for you to decide whether he would see me 

“Your” Carlisle was furious. His body instinctively moved forward, pointing his finger at her. 

Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in his wrist. 

Victor had rushed over in a gray coat and forcefully knocked Carlisle’s hand away. He seemed anxious as he looked at the displeased Keira

He announced loudly to the board members watching nearby. “The meeting is paused for thirty minutes. All of you can leave to have lunch.”

He could not understand what was so special about Keira that Victor seemed enchanted whenever he looked at her. Now, he even halted the board meeting, which had never happened before.
