Chasing My Pregnant Wife (Rosalie and Theodore)

Chapter 750

"Don't worry. I won't let Dad find me out."

"Good girl! I really didn't dote you in vain. Come tell me about it once you find out. My heart is breaking seeing how upset your mom is."

Tears fell from Chandra's eyes as she spoke. "How could I let my darling daughter get bullied like this?"

"Grandma, don't cry. Don't worry, I'll get to the bottom of things. If Dad really has an affair, I won't forgive him either."

Chandra patted Yvonne's hand. "That's the daughter of the Carter family."

Xyla came downstairs, and saw Yvonne walking out. She wanted to call Yvonne back, but Yvonne left in a hurry and disappeared from sight very quickly.

Xyla approached her mother. "Mom, why didn't you tell me that Vonnie was here?"

"You were resting upstairs. I didn't want to disturb you."

Xyla looked at her mother with doubt. "Mom, did you call her over? What for?"

Upon seeing the doubt on her daughter's face, Chandra decided not to hide the truth from her.

"I called Vonnie over to ask her why you divorced her father. Was it because he had an affair?"

Hearing Chandra's words, Xyla sat next to her and said, "Mom, I've already explained things to you. It was my call to divorce him. I don't want to live with him any longer. It has nothing to do with another woman."

"Why are you suddenly being so serious?" Chandra said with a smile. "Vonnie said that she doesn't know."

"Mom, let's not harp on this any longer," Xyla said anxiously. "I've already divorced Geoffrey. No matter the reason, there's no point pursuing the matter. It'll only be frustrating and troublesome Let's just leave things as they are."

Chandra looked at her daughter with frustration. "Are you happy now? You insisted on marrying him back then, and sacrificed your all. How did he treat you over the years? He doesn't go home all day, and when he does, he treats you like you're invisible. Now that you're divorced, you're still defending him and taking on all responsibility out of fear that we would cause him trouble. Why are you being so foolish?"

"Mom, I just don't want to inflict misery on myself. I want a fresh start, and I want to forget about everything in the past. It's all over."

"If it were really all over, why were you crying?" Chandra questioned her. "You cried last night till this morning. As your mother, I know very well how sad you feel."

Chandra looked solemn, but her heart ached for her daughter.

"I'll be fine in a few days," Xyla said as tears fell down her cheeks. "I'm sad because we were married for so many years; and I can't get used to the fact that we're divorced. It's not е

because of anything else. I'm already at an age where I don't want

to cause any further trouble. I'm

begging you, Mom. Let's leave

things as they are."

Seeing her daughter's miserable face, Chandra said helplessly, "Alright, then. Since you've said so, I have no choice. It's your life. I'll leave you to decide how you want to lead it." She patted the back of Xyla's hand. "But please, don't torture yourself from now on."

"Mom, I won't."

Chandra wiped the tears off Xyla's face. "Don't cry. Go rinse your face, it's all wet with tears now."

Xyla nodded and stood up. "I'll head back to my room, then."

She turned to leave, and walked up the stairs.

Chandra picked up a teacup from the table, and poured herself a cup of tea. As she took a sip, the look in her eyes turned vicious.

"No one is allowed to bully my daughter!"
