Chapter 28
'How long are you going to sit there?' Bella's father, jack, asked as he walked into the room, the bags under his eyes were obvious evident that he had been depriving himself of sleep from the many nights he spent worrying and aching for Bella, but as a man, he couldn't show just how much he was hurting too.
'It's where she used to sit when she wanted to relax.' She turned to face him, her eyes drained of the tears she'd shed, her heart empty. 'But no matter how much I sit here, I can't seem to relax.' She got up and walked towards him, wrapping her arms around his waist and resting her head on his shoulder, seeking comfort in the man that needed comfort just as much as she did.
'We'll find her Les. We won't lose this one.' His heart was breaking and he couldn't do a thing to stop it but he knew that he would find her. 'We've saved her once, we're going to save her again.' He wrapped his arm around her broken form, holding her as tight as he could, he was afraid if he let go, he'd lose Lesley too.
'We saved Becca once, but we never got to save her again.' Her words were harsh, she didn't mean to make him pain, she didn't mean to bring up the terrible memories that still haunted them, she just couldn't find it in her to be as brave as he was. She envied his strength, she did. But that didn't stop her from sinking into the depths of the past. The past that they had both kept from Bella.
'We never saved Becca, we were too late. We just gave her a new scenery for the hell she lived in.' He clutched her in his arms, thinking back to the times when he was a police officer, the times where he had no worry in the world but to find the bad guys and now, his daughter was in the hands of a bad guy and he couldn't do a single thing about it.
'But we saved Bella. And we're going to do that again, do you trust me?' He looked down at the woman before him, she seemed so much weaker than before, so much more shattered and it pained him to see her like that, so hopeless, so defeated.
'Yes.' She finally looked up at him, her eyes seemed a little more refreshed, he never failed to give her hope, he never failed to bring her to life again. She just wished that when this was all over, it would be the end of it for them. No more running away from the truth, no more losing their loved one and no more, secrets.
When Jack was assigned to Bella's Case and he rescued her from the arms of her killer adopted brother, Chase, he thought that would be the end of it. Catch the bad guy, rescue the good and home time. Little did he know, he was going to find a very precious little girl in the basement of the house, locked away from the day she was born. A ten year old that hadn't seen the light, she hadn't seen the world outside of the walls in the dark basement. Her existence was a secret to the world and he had managed to find her. Becca.
But it was too late, it was hopeless, she wasn't just a normal little girl, she was mentally ill. But Jack knew that he wasn't going to stop trying. He and Lesley decided on taking in the girls and giving them everything they were deprived of. Giving them a life. They started by Changing Sofia's identity, they didn't want her to know about her past, they didn't want her to hurt over it. They swore that they would be real parents for them, give them a real home.
But for Becca, it was almost impossible, she wouldn't talk to no one and when she did she would only scream and yell. She had went through too much trauma and was diagnosed with multiple mental illnesses, but even then, they made sure to keep to her needs until they no longer could control her and she had become a danger. Her attacks were getting more often and they had no choice but to send her to Whitley Psych Hospital. But Bella, they did everything for her, everything in their power to keep her from her past, to give her the life they believed she deserved and now, now they had lost her too. She was doing so well, it pained them to know that for all these years she had being completely far from her past and now, now the past was catching up to her and they had no one else to blame but themselves, maybe had they told her the truth, had they warned her, she wouldn’t be missing right now. She wouldn’t be gone. Just like Becca.
They tried for so long, they wouldn't stop now, they were going to find her and they were going to keep her safe, they may have lost Becca but Bella, losing her wasn't an option.
CHASE—
'You're no different from me Chase. You betrayed me ten times worse than I ever betrayed you.'
Her words echoed into my head, she really believed that I was the one betraying her. I was only punishing her, giving her a taste of what it feels like when you trust someone and they turn around and stab you in the back, something that she had done to me. Maybe she really didn't remember or maybe she was pretending not to, maybe that was her way of trying to get out of here, by feeding me her lies, feeding me the shit that I've so long got out of my system. She couldn't fool me anymore, I wasn't that fifteen year old boy who bought her innocence, I wasn't that Chase that fell for her purity. And if she thought for a second that she could lure me into her trap again, she was so wrong.
My eyes traced over her popped lip to the 'C' that marked her skin. I had marked her. And I was about to make her mine fully. I was about to consume her with everything that was me. She might hate me now but soon she was going to be begging me for more, begging me to do the things I was accused of doing to her twelve years ago.
'You're going to have to behave during this.' I whispered into her ear as I held her body captive between me and the mattress beneath her. Her little hands pressed at my chest, trying to push me off of her, I was surprised that she still tried this tactic of hers that always failed to work in her favour. Gripping her wrists in one hand, I held them above her head, pinning her down, she had no where to run now, she was hopeless.
'Chase, look at me, look at me, this isn't you. You can't do this to me.' Her words shattered as they left her lips, she didn't even believe the things she was saying anymore, she was only trying to buy herself some time, some time to figure out a way to fight me off. It was a shame that she had no way out. I would happily accept a fight but in the end, I was always going to win.
'Shhhh.' I pressed my lips onto her plump ones, shutting out her voice. I didn't want to hear it, the things she said, they were just a way of getting into my head.
Don't let her trick you.
Finish what you started.
Possess her.
My free hand reached for my zipper, zipping it down, I pulled out my solid member, it had already been awoken and was ready to penetrate the petite little girl laying beneath me. I ached at just the thought of it, the beast inside me running impatient, I was close, so close to taking her, making her mine. All these years, she belonged to everyone but me, and now, she was finally going to belong to me and just me.
'No, please, no.' She whispered against my lips, tears escaping her pretty hazel eyes, briefly stunning me. I had to shake myself out of it, I couldn't afford to give into her tears.
They aren't real.
She's trying to fool you.
Fuck. Her. Now!
Tightening my grip on her wrists, I pressed my hips into her, my teeth clenched as I felt the soft material of her panty against my throbbing length. My lips found their way to her neck, kissing and biting down on her delicate throat as I rubbed myself in between her thighs, her soft silk skin burning my blood, crazing my inner beast.
'Chase.' Her voice was barely a whisper but my name came out loud and clear. I had always liked the way my name rolled off her tongue. I lifted my head and looked at her, she seemed to be deep in thought, her tears had stopped and her eyes were cold.
I almost didn't realise when she head butted me, I didn't expect that coming from her. I moved up for a second and that's all it took for her to knee me in the testicles, yet again.
'Bellaaa.' I growled out as I fell onto the bed, clutching my crotch, my entire body was sweating out from the pain that surged through me. I watched her run out from a distant, I hadn't locked the door but I didn't care, she had no where to go. Pulling myself together, I zipped up my pants and headed for my little Bella.
I looked everywhere, except the one place I didn't think she'd be at. My room. I guess she didn't try the door or the windows anymore seeing as the door would've been locked and the windows weren't breakable. She had to be looking for a phone, a phone to call the cops. Just like she had done back at the very first time she betrayed me.
The door to my room was halfway open and I already knew that she had saw everything, the things that were only there for me to see. I opened the door a little further, taking a step inside and there she was, face full of tears and a phone in hand.
'Please help..' she spoke out, her eyes on me, fear evident in her features, it felt like yesterday when I was in the same exact position with her, she had said the same thing, she had betrayed me just like this. Rage overtook my body and my heart pounded in my chest. I wouldn't let her do this again, I wouldn't let her escape.
'Sofia don't!' I smacked her head into the wall. The phone dropped out of her hand and fell to the floor, the loud thud her head made as it contacted with the wall echoed in my ears. This time, instead of trying to hide my ears from the sound, I crushed the phone under my shoes. They weren't going to trace the call this time, they weren't going to find me.
I looked down at her lifeless form, her head was bleeding, just like the first time, the only difference was, this time I wasn't going to let them take her away from me, this time, I was going to keep her.
