Chariot 3: Conception

Chapter 44 – “Jet pack?”

While Flumen and Shoffer fought for their lives, V-Nus sensed a malefic presence approaching him.

“Sir V-Nus, behind your back.” Sissy alerted him of the incoming threat.

“Sissy, take over the commands!” V-Nus ordered while disconnecting from his seat.

As he turned around, V-Nus saw the white light beam penetrate the ceiling, bringing the Grey intruder onboard.

Following the explosion of his craft, the light beam suddenly stopped and the Grey fell the last five feet that separated him from the deck, performing a painful, at the same time embarrassing, landing on his knees.

V-Nus watched the disc shaped device that the unannounced enemy carried snap from his hands and slide under his legs. He then looked down on the ashamed eyes of his enemy while a hatch deliberately open behind the kneed creature. It was clear, Sissy wanted him off and so did V-Nus.

As the intruder felt the opened walls bringing the cold breeze against his back, he perceived what would happen next.

“Did you bring your jet pack?” V-Nus asked with a tone even more sarcastic than the usual.

“Jet pack?” Before the confused creature had the chance to ponder the answer for that rather unusual question, the sole of V-Nus` foot kicked the uninvited guest off Chariot 3.

The Grey lifted from the deck as his chin got hit and slowly watched the ship move away as he crossed its walls which closed immediately thereafter. Unlike the Nibirians, the Grey race would never come to rescue any of their own. ‘An acceptable loss’ they would think.

“I’m grateful, Sissy.”

“You are welcome, Sir V-Nus.” Sissy replied.

“Welcome back…”she paused for a second. “…Shon.” Sissy acknowledge the Captain`s presence once he reached the Bridge.

“Captain.” V-Nus greeted him with a nod while concentrating on flying Chariot 3.

Shoffer felt a brief moment of comfort. “I am pleased to be back.”

“Sissy, we have an unconscious prisoner on the Flight Deck. Please ensure he is well restrained.

By the end of his words, the Grey creature had already been restrained after been swallowed by the metagraphene deck.

“Where is Cai Yiu?” Asked Shoffer with his eyes fixed on the empty seat.

“He`s flying that craft.” V-Nus replied, staring at the sequence of movements performed by the Nibirian warrior dodging a massive shoot out taking place on his tale while he pursued another craft.

“Nibirian, surrender now or regret.” The Grey leader on the craft pursued by V-Nus pronounced his belligerent words.

The second after, Cai Yiu Hun ended his pursuit, releasing two well-aimed discharges.

The craft of the leader performed and incredible spin and dodged one of the discharges while the other hit its wing. The flames raised fast, leaving a trail of smoke while its pilot desperately tried to regain control of the falling craft.

Cai Yiu suddenly decelerated his craft trying to avoid the smoke trail. He then performed a calculated loop and ended between the two stingray shaped crafts that chased Chariot 3.

“Chariot 3, at my command I need you to perform a full-stop and then descend to catch me.” Cai Yiu sounded very serious as he waited for his lenses to finish their calculations and give him the ‘go signal’ he waited for.

“Catch you?” V-Nus tried to understand what his friend asked for.

An alert popped on the corner of his eye. “Now!” Cai Yiu shouted as he jumped off his craft.

Sissy immediately overrode V-Nus` commands, stopping Chariot 3 in the air.

With his eyes wide opened, Flumen watched the Grey craft behind them make a full stop, avoiding the imminent collision.

Cai Yiu`s hijacked craft maintained its acceleration colliding against its target with precision, and followed by the second scouter that followed same path by crashing on its rear.

As he jumped, Cai Yiu felt the heat of the blast behind his back. The devastating explosion pulverized the three crafts all at once, dyeing the sky with a colorful smoke.

The weapon and armory specialist flipped his body a couple of times in the air as he dodged the biggest debris that flew on his direction, following a perfect synchrony with Chariot 3 where he landed on his feet, almost seemelesly, if not by one little piece of metal that threw him to the side.

Cai Yiu tilted to one side and then to the other as he stepped forward until he regained his balance, and finally stopped still. The second after, the surface underneath his feet suddenly liquefied, creating a hatch just big enough so Cai Yiu could fall through it, swiftly landing back on his seat.

He felt the immediate push of his magnetic uniform reattaching to the seat while he switched off the visor of his helmet. Following the same timely fashion, his three spherical probes returned to the bottom of Chariot 3, one after the other, reassembling the ship`s landing gear.

“Well done Cai Yiu.” Shoffer acknowledged him.

Flumen could not say a word. His skeptic face was shocked with what he had jus seen.

“What took you so long?” V-Nus found his unusual way to welcome his friend back onboard.
