Chapter 890
Nina was the first to notice the figure standing at the entrance. The sunset glow bathed him in a golden light, making him look radiant. It was Scott! Instinctively, Nina pushed away Wilfred and tried to walk towards Scott, but her legs felt like they were made of lead.
"Scott," she murmured. Wilfred stayed close to her, ready to catch her if she stumbled.
Scott noticed Nina too. He had overheard someone mentioning her to Nash over the phone and had followed the directions to find her.
Seeing her now, she matched the image he had in his mind. She was beautiful. Bits and pieces of memories flitted through his mind, but he couldn't quite grasp them.
Nina saw the clarity in Scott's eyes, and memories of searching for him in the slave camp flashed back. Scott had lost his past.
Nina turned to Wilfred. "Wilfred, can you help him remember his memories?"
If a person lost their past, their entire life would feel empty. Nina believed it was cruel for Scott to forget everything, including his family and all his experiences, even if he didn't remember her. "I'll take a look," Wilfred agreed.
Scott didn't leave. Finding Nina felt right, like a key to unlocking his lost memories. If he stayed near her, maybe he could remember more quickly.
Wilfred didn't ask Scott to leave. He continued to draw his own blood and offered it to Nina. She instinctively recoiled.
"Nina, I won't harm you. You know I'm a healer. My blood can help you. Do you remember when I gave you that emerald bracelet?"
Nina remained silent, but she remembered well. Wearing that bracelet had always made her feel inexplicably calm and comfortable.
"The beads have my blood in them... Nina, my blood can help you. I fed it to you while we were escaping. The Pharaoh's research on me was..." "Miss Nina! It's a call from Captain York!"
A commanding voice interrupted as a man in camouflage approached with a silver phone.
Nina took the phone. Before she could speak, Nash's hoarse yet gentle voice came through, "Are you alright?"
"I'm not hurt. How about you?"
"I'm fine." Nash sighed in relief. "Wait for me. I'll be there soon."
"Okay."
Their exchange was brief and ordinary, but to Wilfred and Scott who already knew that Nina and Nash were married, it carried an
extra layer of intimacy.
After the call, Nina handed the phone back to Nash's subordinate. At Wilfred's insistence, she finally drank the offered blood.
A faint medicinal aroma filled the air,
making Nina feel uncomfortable.
She thought about how much pain Wilfred must have endured to
transform from a normal person into a heater. The pain he must have
suffered was immense.
"Is the poison in my body still not cured?" Nina asked, wondering why Wilfred's blood would help her otherwise.
Wilfred replied softly, "No, the poison in your body has been neutralized The antidote Nash gave you worked. It's just that your body is still very weak, and my blood can help you recover. Don't overthink it, vy."
