Chapter |86| ~ Family Reunions ~
Unedited.
Embry’s POV.
My head and chest hurt. Badly. Where am I?I open my eyes to an unfamiliar room filled with very familiar scents that I don’t really recognize at the moment. As of now, I can’t feel my wolf, but then again I can feel that she is awakened. It’s like she’s trying to hide from me, completely shut me off and blocking our line of communication, but why?
She promised me that she would never do that again. “What’s going on,” I question her only to be met with silence.
I wait for a couple of minutes, for her to respond but when she doesn’t I decide to take in my new surroundings instead.
The room is extremely spacious and the bed that I’m laying on is fit for a queen drenched in silky light grey satin bedroom sheets. The soft black satin window covering is draped back a little, allowing a little light from the blazing winter sun to evade the room. The walls are mostly painted dark grey, but there is also a snow-white, glistening silver, and midnight black stripped absent wall. This wall, in particular, is covered with artwork and a few silver framed photographs.
My eyes zoom in to view the pretty peoplethat were captured in the photos. Instantly, I recognize my handsome mate and the lovely Aunt Katherine. That’s when it all hits me.
And when I say, everything and I mean everything hits me.
Starting with, my near-death experience and the fight with my mates Ex.
Ravanna is dead. I killed her.
Followed by, Celine coming to my rescue and Speck almost losing her life. She was poisoned.
They all were due to the attack at the ball. The ball that was thrown in my honor.
Then, it was the attack on the Red house. My tears begin to pour when I remember the battle. Celine and I official first battle with one another going up against the last people that I would ever thought that I would have to kill. My first kill’s were all were-people.
My people, members apart of my species.
My heart begins to break, more, and more as I continue to think about it. Then, it was the tunnel and the encounter with all of those helpless vampires, who were afraid for their lives. Each and every one of their faces begin to dance gracefully across my memory.
Next came, the plan and the walk of doom throughout the tunnel and my first official meeting with The Southern Pack Alpha. She was a pretty and powerful she-wolf, if only the circumstances were different we may could have been friends.
Shortly after, I was reunited with my family. My dad. I saw my dad, sister, brother, uncle, and his devil of a mate, Mecca. All of the Packs of North America were there as well and Lycan Royalty. They placed Celine and me on trial and our uncle mate, Mecca acted as our prosecutor.
Eventually, all hell broke loose and so many lives we taken. Many wolves and vampires were killed.
The Lycan King was killed.
I was almost killed.
Aunt Katherine.
Oh, my! Aunt Katherine. My heart rate instantly drops as the horrifying scene of the Lycan Queen swinging a sword at Aunt Katherine’s neck, chopping it off, clean. Replays over, and over, and over, and over, and over again inside of my mind. Traumatizing me.
It just can’t be real. She’s not dead. She just can’t be. She just can’t be.
Every thought was just a nightmare, on scary bloody lucid dream. That’s it. Aunt Katherine is alive and she will walk through the door at any minute just to check on me. Matter of fact, I’m going to go find her. Maybe, we’re in yet another one of my mate’s safe houses and they are all downstairs waiting for me.
Yeah, that’s it! That will explain why I woke up in a room decorated with photos of my aunt and mate. Yeah, that explains it all.
I jolt up, attempting to roll out of bed only to be stopped by an intense scorching hot’ pain directly from my chest. As on instinct, I place my hand over the top of what seems to be a fresh bandage that I can now feel is covering my now blistered skin. Just a single touch makes my entire body ache. I also feel some sort of scab growing over the top of what appears to be a deep wound.
Oh, my Goddess! I really was shot. That means everything was real, every single scene, and Aunt Katherine really was... Oh, no! Oh, Goddess! Goddess, no!
“No,” I scream to the top of my lungs while my tears overflow from out of my eyes indefinitely as an unbearable eternity of pain swallows me whole like a never-ending story.
My heart feels as if it has been ripped out of my chest... Physically, stolen.
Then all of a sudden, I feel sick to my stomach as the images of Aunt Katherine’s cruel and heartless death continue to rush through my head. My trembling hands make their way to my mouth in hopes of preventing the contents of my stomach from resurfacing, but it’s no use because it all comes up anyway in the same moment that my entire body begins to shake.
The world around me begins to spin in slow motions but the memories continue to vastly flicker like tattoos on my brain, stealing away my peace of mind. All I can do is cry, vomit, and continue to experience a ton of pain.
I need Cyrus, I need my mate.
The sudden thought of how my mate will feel when he hears the news causes me to lose my breath my wolf finally howls within me.
I can’t breathe.
No amount of pain that I’ve ever felt has ever felt this bad.
Without my mate here beside me, I feel like I’m out of my element as if I’m drifting’ out to a vengeful sea like the tide’s pulling’ me in deeper making it harder and harder for me to breathe. I’m sinking, or seconds away from fainting. Suddenly, my entire body jumps as an effect from someone bursting the door open just to get to me.
I can’t pinpoint exactly who the person is at the moment, nor do I even care to. All I could do is cry, scream, and beg my Goddess to wake me up from this hellish dream.
This state of misery.
King Nicklaus Home, Cyprus Island Palace.
Cyrus POV.
I pocket my new phone quickly before I destroy yet another one of these horrid devices for the thousand times within the last hour. Yes, you heard me right! I demolished every single device that Marcellus has bought me within the last hour. Simply because I can’t fucking reach Embry, my aunt, Speck or Gutter.
Oh, Blood God, Fuck.
I can’t even get in contact with Count Clown, none of my cousins, or even Cindy Lou who fucking gives a fuck about you, for Blood God crying out loud and it’s driving me to the brink of insanity.
Matter of fact, that’s a lie. I’m not being driven I’ve already reached the destination.
I’ve officially gone mad. Mad, mad! I tell you. I’m going fucking crazy!
With that thought, I take the phone right back out of my pocket just to throw it at the wall like I did all of the other ones. What the fucking point of having one of those idiotic devices anyway if I can’t get in contact with my beloved? I’m better off without it.
“Not again,” Marcellus sighs as he walks back into my room uninvited and unwanted.
“Go home, Marcellus. I told you that I prefer to be alone,” I growl at him, making it more than obvious that I need time alone just to think. Of course, Marcellus doesn’t care about how I feel when it comes to the art of annoying me.
Instead, of leaving me alone, Marcellus sits down on the couch by the window before placing both of his legs down on top of the coffee table, and then puts his hands behind his head, completely relaxed as he say’s, “And I told you that I was coming right back, either way, going completely against your wishes and you know why?” he asks but when I don’t respond he tells me anyway.
“Well, I’ll just tell you anyway. Right now you need a friend, Cyrus and I’m your best bud,” He smirks.
He’s such an annoying little fuck!
“I’m that friend that shall always be here in your time of need just call my name and I’ll be there,” he damn near sings, sounding like a broken record composed by humans back in the year of 1970. that my aunt Katherine used to listen to.
“Marcellus, please!” I growl, not having the patience, nor willpower to deal with Marcellus’s circus act at the moment. My head hurt’s to got damn bad and my monster emotions are all out of tact for some strange reason. Most likely, because he’s all out of the loop, we all are.
There has been so much shit that has gone down in the last twenty-four hour’s it’s messing with all of our heads.
For starters, Claire did it, it’s done. She has not only defeated the council but has also made all of the old hags bow down on their knees right in front of her, literally. The aftermath of it all has left us, vampire kings stunned. Plus, a whirlwind of bull crap to deal with.
Starting, with the arrest and then imprisonment of the ole-mighty Apollyon, Nicklaus’s father, and the other council members. The hags. Yup. Those, creepy little fucks were all thrown in the royal dungeon to rot, hopefully for the rest of eternity on Claire’s orders. Although, it’s more than they deserve if you ask me. I rather see them all burn.
Including, Nicklaus’s headache of a mother, wicked sneaky little sister, and the traitorous bitch Duke Aldon, who all just managed to escape by the way. The search to hunt them all down has started from the very moment that we have all awakened. Along, with the Lycan Royal mutt and his pet.
Both of them somehow managed to get away as well and for the life of me, I can’t remember anything that happened after I almost ended the Royal mutt, pet’s life.
My mind is completely blank of any events that have taken place during our fight if anything happened at all. I’m at a loss. We are all. None of the kings can seem to remember anything that went down after Claire magically put us to sleep.
It’s so fucking frustrating. Nicklaus believes it’s a side effect of Claire’s magic pendant. Since, the source of the emerald magic centers around the powerful witch Aurora, who is most popular for her mind-erasing sleeping spells.
Oh, yeah! That’s another thing that we learned as soon as we all awakened Claire also informed us of her ancestry.
Apparently, Claire’s biological mother is Bella, Xander’s human beloved, who played a key role in the start of the Awakening. On top of that, we were also informed that Claire’s surrogate mother is Aurora, who supposedly carried Claire and her twin brother in her very own womb for over a century.
Yes! Claire has a long lost twin brother, that human boy that I was second away from murdering.
Weird, right?! I know. The entire story has shocked us all. Witches and their weird as births, like who would have thought.
This brings me to another discovery, Claire is also supposed to be some Chosen one to the witches that shall save the world.
Blah! Blah! Blah!
What the fuck?! I mean, don’t get me wrong we all knew that Claire was special, but by Blood God, none of us were prepared to find out all of the weird shit that centers around her birth.
I was completely stunned. In all honesty, it was just way too much for me to take in, and evidently, I’m not the only one who feels this way because Nicklaus’s brother, Xander The Cold-Hearted King disappeared not even seconds after Claire finish telling us all the story.
Yup! He got the fuck. Not that I can blame him.
I mean, it just has to be weird as fuck to find out that your dead beloved daughter is your brother’s beloved. On top of that, Xander is also the one who murdered Claire’s father.
Talk about family drama, I couldn’t even imagine going through that sort of shit with Embry, and thankfully I don’t have to. As far as I’m concerned, I’m the only family that my beloved needs. Me.
Who cares for family reunions when we have each other, which brings me back to my current situation. I have no way of communicating with my beloved, thanks to the council ensuring that every single media source was disconnected before their arrival. Those old fucks, also blown up just about every single airport on this planet, including every single one of us vampire king personal jet’s, and to travel by sea would take to got damn long.
So, yes! I’m officially fucked.
For now at least, Luscious is currently working on getting us another plane as we speak and the other kings are doing everything in their power to get us back in communication with society, except, Marcellus. He’s here bothering me, of course.
“Have you tried to mind link with her,” He questions? “She’s your beloved if anyone can reach her from this far, it’s you,”
As a response to his ridiculous question, I release a vicious growl and my monster briefly presents himself, “Of course, I have, you stupid little fuck,” What the fuck type of question is that?
Oh, Blood God! Please, save me. “For some strange reason, I can’t get through to her, or any one of them for that matter, Nicklaus believes it’s another effect from Claire’s magic like some sort of blockage,”
“Damn, dude! That is fucked up,” Marcellus actually seems to sound concerned. “Well, I’m sure she’s fine. I can still feel my bond with Anastasia, even though something does seem to feel a little off,” he admits.
“Agreed! Now, can you please shut up so I can concentrate, ” I hiss through clenched teeth while closing my eyes? I need peace in order to reach her. I need a peace of fucking mind.
Finally, I feel her presence. Her soul is so warm as it touches my frozen heart, just as warm as the first ray of sunlight on a warm summer day. I can’t help, but to reach out and touch her when all of a sudden I get a weird sense of deja-vu like we were recently in communication or something.
When in all reality, I haven’t seen her or felt her presence in almost a week. It’s strange.
I don’t know. Something is off, or maybe it’s just me overreacting, another side effect of Claire’s magic, possibly.
“Cyrus,” my sunshine calls out to me, bringing me to the present.
“Embry,” I breathe back.
Embry POV.“Calm down, Embry,” soothes my father as he lifts me up into his arms, pulling me into his warm embrace. His masculine earthy scent of rain-soaked pine and fresh patchouli covers my entire body like a security blanket. His scent alone makes me feel safe. I press my head into his chest as I take in his natural sweet and spicy scent.
Oh, Goddess! My dad smells like home. “Daddy,” I cry out. “She’s gone daddy, she’s gone,”
“Shh,” he continues to soothe me while he runs his finger throughout my matted and drenched in sweat auburn hair. “Don’t you worry about that right now, little Wilde,” my father shoos. “I’m here now, sweetheart. I promise you that everything will be okay, just please calm down,” my father whispers. I hear the pain inside of his voice.
It’s killing my dad to see me like this. Despite my father being an all powerfully strict Wilde wolf, he is still my dad. He never liked it when his baby girls cried, me or Farrah because at the end of the day we will always be his little Wilde Wolves.
Even still, I continue to cry a river inside of my father’s chest unable to help myself. This pain is unbearable. It hurts. It hurts, so freaking bad.
Goddess, please save me a deliver me from this never-ending pit of sorrow.
Please, Goddess, deliver me from this moment of desolation for just a second. Please, Goddess! Please, please, Goddess! I pray to myself feeling as if I’m in another dimension of chocked misery.
My father suddenly scoops up my entire frame into his arms and carries me into a bathroom. Next, he places me down onto a toilet before going to run a rag under luke-warm water.
After that, he assists with brushing my teeth and refreshing up before he once again places my body into his safe arms just to carry me out of the room.
During the whole process, it feels as if my Goddess herself sent my father directly down to me, just to act as the angel that shall forever and always answer my prayers. I allow my head to fall down upon his broad shoulders. I don’t know where he’s taking me, nor do I care as long as he doesn’t leave me no time soon. I just want to stay in my daddy’s arms forever.
I just want my dad.
A shudder of aching chills runs throughout my body as my father carries me outside of the room.
As soon as he steps out the door, over a hundred different scents invade my sense of smell.
All eyes are on us, as my dad walks throughout wherever we are. I’m way too tired to take in my new surroundings so my head remains buried deep inside of his chest instead.
I hear the sound of a door opening and then closing. The very moment, my dad steps outside the cold winter wind brush up against my face. There is no telling, how long I’ve been asleep before my father came to get me when you think about the twilight currently fallen over the horizon. For just a second, I can feel the beaming sensation of the fleeting sun. Every ounce of my soul, want’s to look up for just a second. So I can catch some a glimpse of it, but no matter how bad I want to, I just don’t have the strength.
My sensitive ears detect the snow crunching underneath my father’s combat boots as he walks for a long while. By the time, my father comes to a complete stop I can feel the looming presence of the glistening moon. I finally find the strength to tear away from his chest. I’ve must have fallen asleep again because the first thing I come into contact with is the pitch-black sky allured with thousand of twinkling diamond-like stars. We now in a large clearing surrounded by a sea full of snow-covered pine trees.
The winter air is so fresh and so crisp. I take a deep breath. Finally, I can breathe again.
“Little Wilde,” my father says before planting a single kiss down onto my forehead.
“It’s been a long time, but it is time for you to remember who you are and where you come from,” he says to me in addition.
I slam my eyes shut as I take in his words. I don’t want to remember, I just don’t.
Just thinking about my upbringing reminds me of how selfish my people truly are. Thanks to them, my mate’s aunt is dead. I just want to forget them all for the rest of eternity.
I hate it here.
“Do you remember what I use to say to you when you were just a pup? Whenever you would cry about your mother’s passing,” my father randomly asks me? “Do you remember the saying,”
Yes! How could I ever forget? “Whenever you feel down, lost, or hurt just look up at the stars. They are a constant reminder of who you are and where we come from. The stars are a blessing from our Goddess herself. They are the direct link to our ancestry. They are the direct link to our fallen warriors. The moon is a symbol and guide. Mom’s there! She’s in the sky,” whisper as my tears trail freely down the side of my face.
“And so is Lady Katherine,” my father says to me.
“She will always and forever be there watching over you, Embry along with your mother. They are right there,” he points up at the brightest shining stars as he looks up into the dark night sky.
“Understand the truth about that question in your soul. Don’t you ever forget to look up, never look down, and then I promise that all life questions that you have shall always be answered, unfolded,” my father states yet another verse directly from our Goddess herself. “The stars are the key for you to always find your way back to our people.”
“The memory of every person who has walked this world is everlasting because no one is just a speck in the universe. We all have a purpose. We are all the living worth, every single soul has a part to play, Lady Katherine and your mother has played their parts and they have played them well,”
“The both of them were apart of something way bigger. We all are, especially you,” he expresses before smiling down at me. “My little Wilde don’t you ever forget that not a single soul can bring you down. You have my blood in you and you shall forever and always rise,” my dad wolf appears as he states his final words to me, and all I can is cry.
That’s when I remember what my father also used to say to me. His words sink into my soul like a wrecked ship being swallowed by the deep blue sea.
“The tears we cry let’s us know that we are still alive,” he used to say. “It’s okay to cry, Embry,”
So I cry.
I cry for my mother, one of the brightest souls that I have ever encounter. Next, I cry for my favorite cousin, Kaya. The sweetest she-wolves that I’ve ever met and finally I cry for Aunt Katherine.
The breathtaking beautiful vampire lady who has touched the entire nation.
At this exact moment, I make a promise to myself that none of their deaths shall be in vain. I am Embry Destiny Wilde the special wolf born on the Luna passing day. I am the Western Beta, Hunter Destined Wilde’s youngest daughter. I am Cyrus Ettore the Ruthless Vampire King mate and I promise on my sweat, blood, heart, tears, and soul that I shall change everything for the better.
I swear.
“I know you will,” my father wolf declares as he looks at me. “It’s apart of your destiny,”he then sighs.
“I owe you an apology, Embry. I should have never attempted to force you to mate with the Lycan prince.” my dad says. I can hear the frustration and the sincerity from his words inside of his voice. “My actions were cruel, unforgivable, and ungoddessly which nearly cost me our bond, but most importantly your life,”
“I forgive you, daddy,” I tell him right away. “I understand your position. All is forgiven, I know that you didn’t have a choice,”
“There’s always a choice,” he says. “Always. And another thing, I never want you to feel as if you can’t run to me in your time of need. No matter what you do I will always be here to protect you, always, even if you are some big bad vampire beloved you shall always and forever be my little girl, my little Wilde. I love you,”
“I love you too, dad,”
Our conversation is cut short when the sound of many footsteps crushing over snow evades my eardrums.
I smell them before I see them. I’m greeted by the sight of the entire Western Pack, hundreds of vampires, humans, and all of the people who are closes to me. They begin to emerge from out of the forest into the clearing and form a circle around us.
In the process, my father places me down before he walks towards the others.
A small smile graces my lips as my eyes hone into Speck, Celine, Gutter Butter, Ruq, Farrah, Beta Rendell, Anastasia, Luke The Western Alpha, Nyla the vampire girl that I’ve met at Cyrus estate, Abigail the human slave, Koda the older she-wolf that I’ve had a brief encounter with so many moons ago, Marko my first guard, and even my Aunt Elena, Kaya’s and Celine mom.
She’s here as well.
Where did they all come from? I mean how did they all get together. You know what, it doesn’t even matter. I don’t care as long as they are all safe.
On their own accord, my feet barely touch the snow as I run straight into my Aunt Elena’s arms.
Oh, my Goddess, it feels so good to see her. I can’t believe that she’s here. It’s been such a long time, too long. Her so sweet and delightful familiar scent of honeysuckle swallows me whole as she pulls me into a tight hug.
“Oh, I missed you so much,” she says as she places a gentle kiss onto my forehead.“I’m so glad that you are safe. “I missed you so, so, so much my sweet child,”
“I missed you as well,” I respond to her with wide tearful eyes. “I love you,”
“I love you too,” she says. “I love you so much, Embry. Always remember that I shall always love you no matter what and so does Kaya,” she says while pulling away slightly. Then, she looks into my eyes for a long while before saying, “Someone has been waiting to see you,”
“Embry,” an ultra-sweet and overly adorable voice squeak out from behind me.
“Jenkins,” I turn around and say as the extra adorable little pup jumps right into my arms. The distinctive scent of pinewood and spring rain invades my sense instantly, reminding me so much of Kaya’s scent.
“Oh, Jenkins! You have grown so much,” I say to him because he truly has. The last time I saw him he was just a pup. A newborn, but now he appears to be the age of a five-year-old human.
His striking crystal blue eyes that he also inherited from his mother sparkle with joy as he stares into my hazel ones. I scoop his tiny little frame up into my arms and give him a big bear hug.
“Hey, what about me, Princess,” questions my brother, Ruq from behind me by the nickname that he has used to address me for as long as I could remember. I turn around and throw my arms around him as well, while still holding onto Jenkins of course.
“Oh, Goddess! I never would have thought that I would say this, but I missed you so much,” I say to Ruq.
“Right back at you, princess. Right back at you,” he jokes.
“Hello, little wicked sister of the west,” my wicked big sister of the west says to me as she joins in on our group hug. “Goddess, Embry I missed you so much.”
“And so have I,” I cry out to Farrah. I’ve truly have missed her as well. I missed all of them so much.
My father wraps his arms around the four of us before a kind of familiar voice addresses the crowd from behind me,
“Dear all, friends, family, wolves, vampires, and humans. We are gathered here today to celebrate the life and grieve the loss of, Lady Katherine. The gentlest soul that one could ever encounter,” preaches, Marko my first guard.
I wonder where he has been I think to myself as I let my family go, and then place Jenkins back down onto the ground just to get a better look at Marko.
I guess I’ll find out soon enough another thought runs throughout my head as his dark brown eyes focus on me. “Everyone here has known lost,” he continues on. “Everyone here has known pain, grievance, and defeat. This is the world that we all live in. This is the world of separation of species. This is the world of the Awakening. Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but this is the world that Lady Katherine has given her life to change,”
“This is the world that I shall give my life for just to change,” he declares. ’Who’s with me,”
His well-spoken words are followed by roars of approval from every present soul that surrounds me. The wolves all howl in unison into the midnight sky. The humans all clap their hands and shout, “We’re with you,” into the cold winter air and the vampire joins in as well. They all are to clapping their hands while shouting, “Long Live Lady Katherine, Long Live Lady Katherine,”
It’s such a sight to see. It’s one of those experiences that one from this time would think that they’ll never live long enough to see. It’s so, beautiful.
When all of the commotions dies down Marko steps closer to me and say, “Tonight, I a vampire pledge my life to Embry, the Ruthless Vampire King, she-wolf queen,”
Once again, the crowd begins to roar in approval as he continues to say. “Tonight we shall all run together as one pack under one cause and that is to carry out the memory of Lady Katherine,”
“A vampire lady, who didn’t care about another person’s species, race, social class, or gender. A vampire lady who risked her life to protect so many of us here today, no matter where we came from. A vampire lady who’s death shall not be in vain, as long as I live,” he finishes before holding out his hand towards me.
“Will you lead us,” he then questions. “Will you lead us, tonight as we run together as one pack under one cause, and then after that for as you shall live and for as long as it may take for us all to change the world together for the better, my queen,”
Without any hesitation I talk his hand and say, “Yes, I shall,”
My eyes narrow in on the beautiful bonfire that was sparked in the name of all of our fallen.
I can feel the heat. The beautiful dancing fire settles warmth into my heart as it dances wildly when the wind picks up speed. It fizzles and pops. The smoke rises, the refreshing smell of burning pinewood floats freely in the air. I sit here and continue to take everything in, watching vampires, werewolves, and humans engage with one another.
Never would I ever expect to encounter a moment like this and it’s all because of Aunt Katherine. A small and gentle smile paints across my lips as I think about all that I’ve learned tonight.
After the run, Marko explained everything to me. His curt behavior during our brief encounters, his attempt to help me escape, and his sudden disappearance were all in the name of Aunt Katherine.
Marko was working a double agent all along. Aunt Katherine placed him in my mate’s service just to keep an eye on him. She wanted to be prepared for the moment when her nephew would go too far. Once, she got a whiff of him capturing her late friend daughter, which was me. She entrusted Marko to get the job done and return me home safely, but everything changed when Marko realized how protective Cyrus was over me.
He knew that I just had to be Cyrus’s beloved and he also knew that everything was about to change for the better. So, he abandoned his mission to get me home and told Aunt Katherine about his discovery. That’s when she began to set everything in motion.
Apparently, Aunt Katherine created a secret society of vampires, humans, and werewolves to fight together for a united world over a century ago. In fact, she has started this society months after The Luna’s passing day, or what the vampires like to call The Awakening.
The secret society has been working in silence, gaining numbers, and preparing for the right time to strike for over a century. Although, Marko suspects that Aunt Katherine held back because she was too afraid of what would happen to her beloved nephew once everything hit the fan, but then I’ve come along and they all knew that Cyrus would do anything, or go up against anyone to protect me.
They knew that Cyrus would even go up against the King of all Vampire Kings if he had to.
The bond that Cyrus and I share has changed everything.
And so has the golden hair chosen by the name of Claire and the king of all vampire king bond. Those are Marko’s words, not mine, but either way he’s right.
So when it’s all said and done, I guess my uncle’s bitter mate, Mecca was right about one thing. This is the new world order.
The world is about to change for the better, I just can’t believe that I shall play a part in it.
“I don’t know why you can’t. We’ve been told our whole lives how special we are,” suddenly says my wolf. We’ve been back in communication for over an hour now. She apologized for making me feel as if she had abandoned me, but she too felt the pain of losing Aunt Katherine.
She too needed some time alone to grieve.
The two of them formed their own bond, and I understand that completely. Sometimes, it’s easy to forget that even though my wolf and I share the same body. We are still two different creatures.
My wolf has a heart. She feels pain. Her heart could be broken as well.
“We are still one,” my wolf speaks again.
“And we shall always be,” I tell her. “I couldn’t even imagine sharing my mate with anyone else, ” I joke just to lighten the mood.
My wolf responds with a wolfish laugh.
“I miss him,” I suddenly say. “I wish that he would hurry up and come back,”
“As well as I,” lowly mumbles my wolf. “But maybe it’s for the best, for now,” she says as I nod my head in agreement.
My wolf is right, maybe it is for the best that my mate isn’t here because once he learns about what has happened last night he will most certainly raise hell on this earth. No one will be safe, and that’s the last thing that we all need right now.
The very last thing.
As of right now, we need peace. We need to stick together and I know for a fact that Cyrus will not see things on that account.
He will divide and kill all. No questions asked...
A sudden, radiation of dauntlessly dangerous wicked energy submerges into my system, causing my heart rate to increase in speed, skipping about several beats.
Speak of the devil, and he shall appear! Out of nowhere, my mate’s majestic features are all I can see.
I feel can feel his presence. His ice-cold soul touches my warm heart, blending in perfect union providing every fiber in my body with nothing but blissfully sweet nutritionist energy.
“Cyrus,” I call out to him. I can feel his presence running throughout my body entirely.
“Embry,” he breathes and there goes that dauntlessly dangerous air that only he can summon to my inner light. It’s pulling me in with ease. He pulls every inch of my body down, sea deep.
The tiny hairs on the back of my neck rise as I continue to speak, “I miss you,”
My tears begin to spill. “I miss you too. I’ve been thinking about you, constantly,” he responds to me.
“How is everybody? I can’t reach anyone. There’s been an attack that caused a great blackout as I’m already sure that you are aware of,” My heart drops instantly. “Are you safe,” he suddenly questions me.
“Are you okay,” the worry behind his words is more than evident and that action alone makes me want to burst out in tears while pouring out my heart to him. I want to tell him everything.
I want to tell him that I’m not okay and that his Aunt has... But, I can’t. I can’t find the heart, nor the strength.
I can’t be the person who crushes my mate’s heart like that, even though I know that he deserves to know. I just can’t. Not yet.
“Embry,” he calls back out to me, expecting an answer.
“Yes, I’m okay.” I lie. “We are all okay,” I seal my fate.
When it all comes out, I hope and pray that he can somehow find it in his frozen heart to forgive me.
Hey, love bugs. Only, a few more updates to go. Now, I know this was a very long chapter, but just look at it as the shift to a new beginning. Everything is about to change and fast, I hope you enjoyed it anyway. My next update shall be no later than Tuesday, maybe sooner. Enjoy your weekend. Also, I’ve received a few questions about how I imagine the characters to look. Please don’t forget that I’m kind of a big Wattpadd star LOL, no but seriously you can follow my Wattpad page and access all of my books. In doing so, there are chapters titled cast updates and rambling that is sort of like a roll-call and images of how my characters actually look in my head, but feel free to imagine them however you like.
This is all our world. Therefore, your imagination is also free to create whatever you like.
Also, you can follow me on Pinterest, which I’ve pinned pictures of all the characters and other cool things.
