Chapter |85| ~ A Whole New World~
Hey, love bugs. I hope all is well. Before you dive into the chapter I want to mention some things that I noticed by reading the comments and yes I do read the comments, every single one of them. For starters, I realized that some of you are confused with the timing of this story. Please, remember that this book connects with Book 1 that’s why it is extremely important to read the first book before you start this one and in doing so you will start to connect some of the dots. Although, I will acknowledge that it has been a while since the first one was published so I take full responsibility for most of your confusion.
With that being said, I’m going to point out a few key points starting with the recent chapters that have been posted.
For starters, the setting is placed around the battle with the council that Claire and Nick dealt with at the end of Book 1. If you don’t remember I highly recommend you reread the last few chapters in Book 1. Secondly, Cyrus is currently overseas and Embry is in North America, so yes it’s a major time-lapse that’s why his POV of their communication during her time of need took place a few chapters after she reached out to him.
I hope that sheds some insight as you continue to read the final chapters, Enjoy!
Now, dive in.
Unedited.
Embry’s POV.
My heart is beating a thunderstorm inside of my chest with every step they take.
Oh, my Goddess! This is not happening! This is not happening, this is not happening I begin to panic.
Like, how?! How on Goddess earth did the wolves manage to get a hold of them so quickly and where are the others? Did they get away? Are they safe? Question after question swarming inside of my head causes a flood of anxiety to rush throughout my body acting like an anxious river.
I can’t take this type of pressure and I don’t have to because luckily for me, I have my wolf. My more animalistic nature takes completely over, viewing the entire scene in a new light.
All of my senses are overwhelmingly sharper, my vision is much more clear. The world seems to come to life around me as my vision enhances and I take in the guards surrounding my friends.
They just all happen to be members part of the Lycan’s Royal Guard, meaning that they are highly crafted in the skill of killing. I watch with wide golden eyes as they bring them closer to the front.
My ears begin to ring as the high beaming sound of the wolves surrounding us begin to roar in approval while pounding their fist into the air, howling and behaving as nothing but a pack of wild animals. My wolf ignores the noise and focus, causing our overly-sensitive ears to push pass the sounds of chaos.
When we truly focus we are able to pick up on the many footsteps that are slowly approaching from the surrounding forest. Next, we are able to detect a few familiar scents.
My nostrils flare widely as myself and my wolf get a whiff of a very particular scent.
Great! Somehow, someway Gutter Butter made it out alive and came with some reinforcements.
Not wanting to give them away, my wolf tears our gaze from the forest and zoom in on the one and only Mecca. She becomes our focus point, pushing everything else going on around us to the back of our heads. We can clearly hear her heartbeat as it beats calmly inside of her chest.
Mecca has no fear. She feels as if she has won it all. Hmmm, well we shall see about that.
My wolf vision glows brighter as we watch her quietly. She’s still standing in the middle of us all, with a wide smirk planted on her face, purposely taunting my wolf.
“Embry, don’t,” Celine’s voice invades my head but she is just a little too late because the next thing the entire crowd sees is my knuckles colliding with the side of their so-called commander face with such force. It sends her flying backward only to be caught in mid-air by my uncle.
Yes! That’s right. We gave her exactly what she’s been asking for, a knuckle sandwich.
“Embry,” growls out my father before roughly grabbing me up by my left upper arm, preventing my wolf from continuing our assault on Mecca. In the same moment, the crowd of howling wolves shifts back to a crowd of angry ones. Their monstrous growls can be heard from miles on top of miles away, but guess what?
I don’t give a single crap and neither does my wolf! We’ve clearly reached our end of patience.
Screw them! Screw her. Screw them all!
“How dare you attack my mate?” question my uncle Maddox, looking shell-shocked.
He then assists his mate with regaining her balance. The booming authority inside of his voice demands an answer. So, my wolf gives him exactly what he want’s.
“Whelp, that’s simple,” she responds without any hesitation. “The bitch got exactly what she deserves,”
My uncle’s audible growls bounce off every living thing present like an echo and that’s when I feel my brother Ruq presence as he makes his way a little closer towards me and my father as if he shall protect me against them all. This is when I begin to take in the position of all The Western Wolves. I didn’t realize it before but they are all stationed on the outside of the other pack wolves like a circle. Actually, the way that they are set in place reminds me of a play straight from out of my father’s defensive tactics training manual.
Hold up, wait! Are they in formation, I think to myself but before I’m able to really process it all my uncle mate bounces up.
“You little, bitch,” growls out my not so happy aunt-in-law, Mecca as she rushes over towards me with the grace of a predator. “You’ll live to regret this, you’ll live to regret it all, ” she promises me.
“Yeah, I doubt it,” sasses my wolf.
“Embry, enough,” roars my father. “You were raised better than this. You were raised to respect your elders,” his wolf presence can be felt, silencing all accept me.
“No!” I snap at him while snatching away from his stronghold and completely disregarding the fact that he is my father, “I was raised on the rule that respect is earned not giving,” I continue to go off. “And every single wolf here that has willingly partaken in this monstrous act of vengeance has lost every ounce of respect from me,”
Silence! There is audible silence but every single wolf present around, eyes begin to glow yellow light as they zoom in on me. Accept, the Western pack wolves. I was right. They are in-formation, which means...
“I’ve heard enough!” The Lycan King speaks from the podium, stopping my current train of thought. “Bring the prisoners to the front. “I’ve had enough of this family drama,” he states as he makes his way to the center of the area where we all are.
“My pleasure, father,” Princess Eva, my should have been, couldn’t have been, but never will be sister-in-law says as she draws closer. She too is covered in blood and her aura beams with power. There is no doubt in my mind that out of everyone present she is my wolf and I biggest threat because she is also considered to be very special.
There are also rumors that she was born with magic. Plus, she’s a Lycan. So it’s only smart for my wolf and me to go straight for her when the fighting breaks off because trust me when I say that if they think that I’m just about to stand here while they kill my friends. They are all deadly mistaken.
We shall fight to the death. With that thought, my vision shifts back towards focusing on my friends. Due to all of the outburst, the Lycan guards seem to be handling them with a little more force than they were before. “Ouch... that hurt’s, asshole!” Speck complains as one of the warriors roughly drag her forward by her arm.
“Speck, please remain calm,” begs Anastasia with a soft-spoken voice, clearly scared out of her mind. She’s shaking, literally shaking, and my heart stops as I watch her stumble over her own two feet.
“Get up! Vamp tramp,” states one of the guards as he grabs her by her hair and then yanks her up off the ground, earning an extremely vicious growl from my wolf.
Everything and everyone around me goes blank, all I can think about is pulling the Lycan guard heart out of his chest. My overly sensitive eardrums ding as it tunes into his heart rate skyrocketing.
Yes! He senses the threat to his life, which is me.
Suddenly, my father’s stronghold on my arm becomes tighter, keeping me in place. I was this close to ending the Lycan’s guard’s life and setting everything off.
“Patience, little Wilde wolf,” my father’s voice boom inside of my head, shocking my soul.
How did he do that? Our bond is no longer forged. He shouldn’t be able to invade my thoughts, father or not!
“And that’s where your wrong,” his voice reappears inside of my head but this time it’s no more than a whisper.
“A daughter and father bond can never be broken, ever. I will always love you, Embry. For better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, wrong or right, for as long as we both shall live,” he states words to me directly for my Goddess and I swear that it takes every ounce of self-control that I have, not to through my arms around him while bursting out in tears.
Oh, my Goddess! Thank you! Thank you so much, I’m forever grateful.
I’m forever gracious that I still have my daddy.
“And you always will. However, now isn’t the time or place to have this discussion. Nor shall you show any type of emotions, pay attention,” he directs while squeezing my shoulder bringing me back to the present moment.
The Lycan King has everyone’s undivided attention as his guards begin to place my friends in front of him. My heart skips several beats as he focuses on one person, in particular.
“Lady Katherine,” he states her name as if the very use of her name sizzles acid on to the tip of his tongue.
“It seems like it was just yesterday when I last saw you standing all proud and strong as if you were untouchable, but look at you know. Oh, how the mighty have fallen,”
“Fuck you, Luke,” Ghost Falls is the one to speak up for her, which causes the same Lycan guard that manhandled Anastasia to punch him square in the jaw. That’s when I find myself taking another step forward in his direction, only to be pulled back once again by no one other than my father. Our recent conversation is the only thing preventing me from pushing my father away and going after the guard. Better yet, it’s the only thing that’s keeping me from not going after all of them.
“That’s King Luke to you,” The Lycan’s voice reels me back in. “You filthy piece of shit,” he states right before he smashes his hand into Ghost Fall’s jaw as well.
As a response to the Lycan King’s assault Ghost Falls issues out a loud roar and promises, “Before, I leave this earth I’m going to rid your people of their King,”
“Yeah, I highly doubt that,” Lycan King, Luke smirks. “Did you hear that? These people are the real threat to our new world order,” he addresses the crowd of wolves. “They are monsters in their own right, who believes that they have the power to rid the world of your Goddess appointed King,”
“Embry Wilde and Celine Wilde have no excuse for betraying us all but they are still our people and we protect our people!” His voice booms. “I’d say that we pardon the Wilde wolves of all crimes and burn these leeches alive instead, as the gift and sacrifice to our Goddess herself,” His final announcement is followed by loud howls of approval from his warriors and his equals.
The packs of North America also seems to agree with him, loud howls and clapping hands come from about each and every person present accept from one.
“Celine Wilde and Embry Wilde is no longer our people,” voices Mecca.
“Mecca, please!” my uncle attempts to interrupt but the avenging Luna, commander, or whatever the heck she wants to call herself continues on.
“No, I apologize my lovely mate but I can not,” she says to him. “As commander, it is my job to issue out justice. Now, I’m not asking for the girls to be put to death because they are family, but I am requesting that they too are punished for their betrayal.”
“Just a moment ago you were advocating for an eye for an eye, commander,” The Western Alpha, Luke is the one to speak up, surprisingly.
“So which is it, Commander? Are you requesting for the Wilde wolves to be punished, or are you requesting for them to be speared and the leeches are killed as punishment for their actions?”
“Both,” says Mecca, smiling. “My nieces need to be reminded that there are consequences to every action.”
“And does that rule apply to you as well,” I chime in, unable to help myself!
Mecca’s eyes glow bright yellow as she looks at me.
“Of, course it does but I’m not the one who betrayed my people. I’m not the one who defends the leeches. I’m not the one who went against royalty orders, fleeing a blessed union just to mate with our biggest enemy the ruthless king.”
“No, you didn’t,” I agree. “I did everything that you stated, but betray my people because you are all my people. The vampires, the werewolves, the Lycans and whoever else steps foot in North America are my subjects because I’m mated to the Ruthless King, which means that I am every single soul present, Queen,” I hiss once again turning the crowd of surrounding wolves very angry.
“So are you stating that you are royalty here,” Mecca wolf is the one to question me through clenched teeth?
My father grips my shoulder in warning but this time I ignore his plea for peace. “That’s exactly what I’m stating,”
“Your right, Embry,” The Lycan King agrees, preventing Mecca from snapping back. “You are royalty since you are promised to my son. You will one day be the Queen of all were people and that’s the only reason why I have chosen to spear your life but your friends on the other hand,” he states walking closer to Aunt Katherine, too close.
My full attention is placed on her. Poor Aunt Katherine looks like she’s about to faint any second now. She’s not going to last any longer. She needs the cure right now.
“Stay away from her,” Shouts Speck and Anastasia.
“I swear if you lay a single hand on her I’ll rip your heart out,” Ghost Falls shouts while attempting to break free from the Lycans Royal Guard.
My wolf once again completely takes over, ready to pounce. He will not harm her. He will not harm any of them and that’s a promise.
“Say Good-Bye to your beloved Lady Katherine,” he spits, staring directly in the eyes of my wolf as he goes to grab her.
Next, everything around me slows in motion. I watch Aunt Katherine straightened her posture, look the Lycan King directly in his eyes. Then somehow, someway find the strength to slam her hand into his chest with such force, grabbing onto his beating organ, and then she rips his heart out of his chest. Next, my lovely Aunt Katherine crushes the not so lovely Lycan King heart with her bare hands like it’s nothing.
He is nothing.
The Lycan King’s lifeless body hits the garden ground with a loud thump. Followed by, the sound of the Lycan Queen spine chilling scream piercing the air.
Like a second instinct, I seek out the Lycan Princess. She’s standing in place, frozen in complete shock for just a second as if she can’t find her voice, or next thought for that matter, and then suddenly she commands, “Kill them! Kill them all,”
“Now,” my father roars from behind me but before I can turn around to see who’s he talking to the entire garden goes up in flames followed by a Big Boom!
I must’ve blanked out from the force of the blast. I don’t know how long I’ve been out, but my head is throbbing, my ears are ringing, and my entire body hurts. Gosh, my ears are ringing, badly and my eyes are stinging, most likely another side effect from getting caught in the explosion... I open up my line of communication, attempting to reach my wolf but all I'm met with is silence.
Most likely, she’s still knocked out as another side effect from us getting caught in the cross-fire.
Thinking of which, who set the bomb’s off in the first place. That was the plan, to begin with, but Gutter Butter was not supposed to issue the command into Celine, Count Cloven and I broke for it. I mean, of course, everything changed when my uncle’s mate bought the other’s into the equation but still. He was supposed to wait until he was one hundred percent sure that we were not going to be caught in the crossfire.
Oh, Goddess! My head hurts bad. It’s spinning. Everything just happened too fast the last thing I remember is my father jumping on top of me in an attempt to protect me, right before the big boom.
Hold up, wait! Where is my dad? I catch a glimpse of his figure to my left lying face down in the burning garden of snow just a couple of feet away from me. I also locate werewolves, vampires, and the Lycans having a full-fledged war all around us. The battle has broken out and it is deadly. Multiple, lifeless bodies of vampires, Lycans, and wolves are scattered out all around me.
We need to get out of here.
“Dad,” my voice is no more than a whisper. I take a deep breath only to be met with pain.
Oh, fuck! That hurts. It hurts when I talk. It feels as if I have a few broken ribs. I attempt to move past the pain and push myself up anyway, but I fall instantly. This is when I realize that I can’t feel my legs either. They are numb, void of any sensation. I attempt to get back up again anyway but fall right back down. Got dammit! I can’t move. This is freaking ridiculous, I need to get to my dad. I just have to make sure that he’s okay.
Seconds later, he begins to move from beside me. Thank you, Goddess! “Embry, you have to get out of here,” he says to me. “You need to get to safety,”
“We need to get to safety,” I correct him as I finally find the strength to push myself up.
Oh, my Goddess! Oh, my Goddess! Every inch of my body hurts. My wolf needs to wake up and heal us because as of right now I can’t protect me, or my father. We are sitting ducks.
“Can you feel your wolf presence,” I ask him while slowly making my way closer to him?
“Barely!” he answers,” But I’ll be okay, you on the other hand need to run. Run Embry, and don’t ever look back, your siblings will find you. They have sworn to protect you, no matter what. We all have,”
“There’s no way, I’m leaving without you, just look around us,” I tell him. I have been figured out that the Western Wolves were on my side and by now so has every other wolf when you look at the scene right in front of us. The Western Pack Wolves are frightening alongside the vampires. In fact, there is way more vampire-fighting with us than were to be expected, which means I was also correct about another thing. Gutter Butter has found some extra reinforcements.
This is the real new world order, pack law no longer exists. This means that my father nor any other wolf will have the right to request a trial if the other wolves somehow defeat us.
They will kill any survivors from our side and I refuse to even chance my father being one of those wolves, or any of my family members for that matter. He sticks with me from now on. They all will.
Out of the blue, I hear a furious roar from behind me, alerting me of her presence. I turn around to face her. The Lycan Princess has shifted into a glorious golden wolf, blinded by rage. I can literally see the pain that lingers in her glowing golden eyes. I can feel her hurt as if it’s my very own and in all honestly I can’t blame her. I can’t imagine losing my dad, even if he was a complete prick like her father was.
“Get out of here, Embry,” my father pleading voice brings me back to reality.
“Run,” his words invade my head.
No sorry, I can’t do it. I won’t, even when I consider the fact that I don’t feel the presence of my wolf. I will just have to fight in human form because I’m still a Wilde and a Wilde wolf protects their people.
No matter what it may cost me. Without the presence of my father wolf, he isn't in any position to fight, and I'll be more than happy to defend him, even if I will lose my life in the process.
With that thought, I use every ounce of my strength to charge in her direction and she accepts my challenge head-on. As soon as I reach her, Princess Eva leaps into the air, bouncing right on top of my body, and then doesn’t waste a single second slamming her sharp claws directly into the skin of my right leg.
Urrrggg! Oh, Goddess! Pain sears through me as she digs her claws deeper than deeper. Seconds, later my vision begins to blur and my entire body begins to tremble underneath her gigantic wolf form but through all of the pain, I can feel my wolf awaking inside of me.
“Get the fuck off my human,” she takes complete control and pushes the Lycan Princess up off of us. Then, she doesn’t pause at all as she jumps to our feet just to shift into our very own wolf form.
The Lycan Princess doesn’t give us any time to adjust. She charges at us again but this time we’re ready. We intercept her attack in mid-air while throwing our claws into her golden fur, sinking them deeper than the deep inside of her flesh, officially drawing Lycan Blood. This is when our animalistic sense alerts us to another powerful presence right before she pounces in our direction.
The Lycan Queen. She’s too has shifted into her astonishing pure snow-white wolf. Luckily, my wolf is able to avoid her attack with ease.
Although, we pay close attention to the cold gleam in her eyes, which tells me that she has come for one thing, and one thing only, and that’s my head. The Lycan princess used her mother's sudden attack to her fully advantage, standing back on her paws.
The two of them begin to circle my wolf.
“Well bring it on, Lycan Bitches,” my wolf roars within me as The Lycan Queen and Princess both begin to rush towards us with pure predatory anticipation.
That’s when I see them.
Ghost Falls, Anastasia, Speck, Gutter Butter, Ruq, Farrah, Beta Rendell, Celine, The Northern Alpha Luke, Aunt Katherine, and Marko are all fiercely walking towards us like a special task force coming to my rescue.
I can’t believe my eyes. Are they all working together? Wait, Marko! Where did he come from, I think to myself, but my train of thought is interrupted by the sudden sound of gunshots firing in the air.
“Embry, watch out,” calls out my dad from the ground but he’s just a little too late because not even a second later a single bullet hits me square in the chest with such force it knocks me down to my knees.
I lift my head only to come in contact with the person who’s holding the gun, aiming it directly in my direction. It’s Mecca, my uncle mate. She shot me. Time seems to stop, literally, everything slows in motion all around me. I place my hand over the top of my chest and attempt to leap up just to go after her, but I’m too tired. So very, very, tired, like how a bear would feel as he goes into hibernation. My wolf presence seems to be gone, suddenly wiped off the face of this earth.
From my tunnel vision, I watch Mecca’s hand squeeze down on the trigger in hopes of emptying out the clip, but this time shots aren’t fired. She’s intercepted by a member of my personal task force. I think, but I’m unsure.
I’m beginning to lose focus as I continue to take in the scene in front of me. Although, there is so much going on all around me I can’t keep up. Through my cloudy vision, I watch the other begin to have yet another full-fledged battle all around me.
I see Gutter Butter leap on top of Mecca and then watch Marko charge at another group of Lycan warriors with no fear. In a flash, Celine bounces on top of the Lycan Princess. Ruq and The Northern Alpha Luke seem to be fighting against my Uncle Maddox, The southern Alpha, The Eastern Alpha and some of the Northern Pack wolves with their back pressed against one another. I can feel the presence of The Western Pack wolves fighting all around us all well but I can’t seem to focus on any of their battles any longer.
My sister Farrah, is now leaning over me. “Embry, stay with me,” she states. Her words are rushed. A sudden stinging pressure sparks shock through my body as Farrah places her hands on top of my wound and press down, applying pressure. Blood is pouring out of me, spilling out like an overflowing sink.
From my parallel vision, I watch the Lycan queen shift back into her human form and grab a fine and reputedly magically long object up from off the bed of snow.
Is that a sword?
“Rendell get my dad out of here. He’s hurt badly,” Farrah's voice reels me back into focusing on her as she shouts overtop of all the chaos. My head is spinning, I can’t focus. Maybe, I’m dreaming. “It’s not a silver bullet. It’s one of the ones infused with poison,”
The sound of more gunshots fills the air as my body begins to hyperventilate. My eyelids begin to feel heavier by the second. I’m trying my hardest to stay awake but with every passing moment. I’m losing all of my energy. Completely Drained.
“Aunt Katherine, watch out,” I hear a very familiar voice call out from beside me. Right as my eyelids begin to shut, but not before my vision tunes into the Lycan Queen swinging a sword directly to Aunt Katherine’s neck, chopping her head off.
Clean.
Surprise, Surprise, Surprise my loves. I told you all that I will be attempting to update as many chapters as possible. You will still get your Friday update, and maybe another one possibly. All of you have been very patient with me so you all deserve this.
I'm forever grateful.
By the way, please take a second to mourn the lovely Aunt Katherine. She will forever and always be missed but I promise you that her legacy shall forever live on in the world of the Awaking, literally.
