Captured By A Ruthless Vampire King

Chapter |83| ~Deadly Poison~

Unedited.

Cyrus’s POV.

“Alec,” Claires overly excitedly states as she pulls the human boy into her arms. He hesitates for just a second but then so foolishly returns the hug and I swear on the blood God himself that it takes everything out of me not to rip him into tiny little pieces right then and there.

“Thank God that you’re okay,” Claire says as she slightly pulls away from him. Her electrifying green eyes are beaming with concern as she evaluates him for any sign of injuries, like a lioness would do to her cub and that action alone makes it more than obvious that she cares for him more than she should.

Okay, that’s a lie. It’s more than obvious that she cares for him, which actually kind of makes me feel ten times better about killing him because death by me shall be quick.

Now, death by Nicklaus on the other hand won’t be so generous. He will kill him slowly.

I watch the boy like a hawk as he pulls Claire back into his arms in a hurry, which also, makes it more than obvious that he cares for her more than he should and that’s when I decide that it is time to intervene.

They have said their good-byes now it’s time for him to die.

“Get away from her,” I spit as I push the pathetic human away from Claire while still holding onto Lady Akasha in the process. Without a second thought, I grab onto Claire as well just because I know that she will attempt to stop the inevitable.

“What the hell Cyrus? Explain yourself?” she pushes me away, doing exactly what I knew she was going to do.

“He cannot be trusted. Princess Daniela freed many of our enemies before the attack started. He was one of them,” I explain in a hurry and it takes less than a second before my words sink in.

I can literally feel Claire’s bewilderment throughout our bond as she attempts to come up with any sort of explanation to defend his actions and as soon as she realizes that she can not she decides to confront the pathetic little human her self.

She steps from behind me, seconds away from demanding an explanation when the awful smell of royal dog invades my senses.

Of course, a Lycan would come for me just to meet its death eventually I think to myself before I once again push Claire behind me while crouching down in a defensive stance readying myself from any incoming assault.

Nicklaus’s headache of a mother takes our moment of distraction as her cue to make her grand escape , causing Claire to attempt to stop her, but luckily for Lady Akasha. Claire shall not leave my sight, especially now that someone let the royal mutt into the Palace.

“What the fuck are you doing? She will warn them of my gift,” Claire snaps as I yank her up by her arm, preventing Claire from breaking free.

“Then how about you go after her, half-breed Queen,” says the royal mutt, gaining Claire’s attention.

Surprise, surprise, surprise, not! It’s Rollin! The royal mutt, personally lap dog!

Ha! Ha! Ha! That’s funny. A dog having another dog as a pet. Anywho, let’s get this over with.

My blazing red eyes lock onto his glowing amethyst ones and I can all but feel his disgust.

Great. The feeling is mutual.

“What the fuck do you want? Rollin,” I hiss, not bothering to hide my distaste.

“Where is the Wilde Wolf?” he has the balls to say, officially taking me there.

My monstrous growl fills the air as a response to the mutt’s question, causing him to brace himself for upcoming attacks, as he should.

He’s dead.

“The Wilde Wolf is under my protection,” Claire steps from behind me once again attempting to stop the inevitable.

“My fight is not with you, Half-breed queen,” his blazing amethyst eyes, flickers in the direction of Claires. “I’m only here to claim what rightfully belongs to my Prince,”

“She belongs to me,” I declare taking a step in his direction.

The lapdog has the audacity to ignore me and decides to focus on Claire.

“Besides, you have bigger challenges at hand,” he gloats, and not even a second later a shitload of viscous venom flushes through my veins.

Literally, making me feel as if my life-force is being drenched out of my body without any warning, no aid. In all my centuries of living, I’ve never experienced anything of the sort and that alone causes chill’s to travel down my spine.

That’s precisely when I feel it, feel him. Nicklaus is hurt. He’s slipping. Our bond is fading away.

“Claire,” I attempt to warn her as I fall but in the next second, the pull from our bond hit’s her as well.

Then another rush of hot acid flushes throughout our communication line as each and every memory that Nicklaus and I have ever shared floods my brain like hot liquid causing my brain to overload and then out of no where its gone.

Our bond is dripped away and discarded like it was nothing. It no longer exists.

Nicklaus, my brother is dead. He’s gone.

Claire penetrating screams fills the air.

Embry’s POV.

Speck and Celine must have been running like two bats flying out of hell because once I entered the underground tunnel there was no trace of either one of them. Plus, my typically heightened senses seem to be useless at the moment due to the recent blast. There is just so much going on all at once. It’s way too easy to lose focus and my wolf has decided to take a moment for herself, most likely preparing for the upcoming battle against our very own kin. She needs her rest.

With that thought, I rely on my human senses to lead the way as I take in the damage that has been done around me so far.

The once magnificently glorious red house now is a battlefield bathe in blood. The smoke from the recent explosion can not be contained and the overly grand floors from above feel like they are nearly seconds away from collapsing on top of my head.

It’s a mess. Oh, my Goddess! It’s just so unreal.

The thick black smoke is seeping in from above, messing with my heightened senses.

I’m trying my hardest to track down the others but in this sort of chaos how could I ever?

It’s just so hard to believe that my people are the cause of this type of destruction.

How could they!? There is no doubt that so many innocent vampires lost their lives tonight. So many innocent families were the real ones to suffer. My head begins to feel dizzy, vision becomes blurry and suddenly the contents inside of my stomach begins to flip as the thought of all the innocent children that were upstairs when the bombs set off, and that’s when everything spills.

I begin to empty out all of my vile contents all over the floor.

I said it once, and I repeat it again this is all so unreal. Through a haze, I catch of glimpse of myself from the mirror that’s on the side of me.

What a wreck?

Blood is everywhere, clinging to my body like a second skin. My hair is incomplete dismay, a few bruises can be identified on my pale skin and my normally bright and alive hazel eyes are swollen and red-rimmed. It’s obvious that I’ve been through hell.

No better yet, I look like hell!

“Queen, Embry!,” suddenly calls out some big vampire that I’ve never seen before. “Offical Gutter orders. You have to come with me,”

My head peaks up from the mention of Gutter Butter’s name. “Where is he?” I demand to know while I attempt to regain my composer.

“He this way,” says the unknown vampire in a rush before he begins to run down the other direction.

We rush throughout the tunnel at record speed and neither one of us decides to slow down when the sound of more explosions begins to go off overtop of our head. Speck has already explained to me that these tunnels are protected by some very powerful magic, thanks to one of Aunt Katherine’s good friends.

It was a gift to ensure the safety of Aunt Katherine just in case she ends up in a sticky situation because of her nephew’s actions, nothing or no one can get in here without knowing the magic word. I know it sounds cliche but it’s true and only a selected few have been trusted with that critical information, or even know about the existence of these tunnels for that matter.

What goes on in the red house doesn’t affect the tunnels. It’s a magical bunker and once your inside you can see whatever is happening above your head, so you can prepare. That’s how I was able to view the damage from the red house once I stepped inside of here but there’s more to it than just that.

The story surrounding the tunnels suggests that they were built as an escape route for the past human presidents that use to live here way before my time. What most people aren’t aware of is the fact that one of Cyrus’s ancestors constructed this entire passage. That’s why it was so easy for the vampire kings to get inside of the once White House during the luna passing day and that is also the only reason why Aunt Katherine good friend requested to magical conceal this area.

Now, that I think about our current circumstances it almost feels like Aunt Katherine good friend knew that she would need a protected area one day possible but then again when you think about who her nephew is it all makes perfect sense. Any good friend would suggest an escape route and we should all be grateful that she did.

Either way, it’s a good thing that no one but Aunt Katherine’s most trusted advisers are aware that these tunnels actually exist.

“They’re all inside of here,” says the vampire as we approach a steel door. “You’ve got to place your hand on the door for it to open, Queen.” He instructs.“I’ve got to go search for anymore survivors,” are his last words before he’s gone.

I follow his instructions by placing my hands on the door only to feel this sudden vibration begin to travel throughout my body and then by the time I remove my hand I find myself standing in an overly crowded room.

Survivors are everywhere, attempting to recover. The vampire men who was once jazzy dressed in their light covered tuxedoes and super sophisticated soft pastel gown wearing vampire women are all now drenched in blood. Just from one look of them, you can tell that this was a ball of hell. There is also vampire physicians everywhere, attempting to tend as many as possible wounds while also attempting to heal themselves. There are royal vampire soldiers here as well, who looks ten times worst than all.

This is a nightmare, a bloody mess. The sight alone reminds me of one of those Goddess awful human end of the World rerun series that Ruq use to watch.

Ruq, my big brother! Oh, Goddess he’s close. He’s coming. He’s coming and wants to kill them all. How ironic is it that the person who used to save me from monster in my nightmares is one of the monsters in all of these innocent people living nightmare.

“Em, Gem! Thank the Blood God that you’re okay. Come quick,” Specks says knocking away my current train of thoughts. My cousin is right behind her, appearing to look extremely awkward. “Sorry about leaving you but we had to bring everyone the cure,” I quickly glance at just how many people are actually here.

Oh, my Goddess! We don’t have enough blood to cure them all. How on Goddess earth will we cure them all.

“As I’ve expected only the royals have been poisoned and have all been cured but one,” Speck answers my unspoken questions.

Hold up, wait did she just say but one?

“Lady Katherine has been poisoned as well but she will not take the cure and she refuses to talk to anyone but you,” Speck continues to answers my unspoken questions while dragging me through the room that I now know leads to other rooms. Celine follows closely behind us. This bunker is more like an underground mansion in itself. It’s ten times bigger than I would have ever thought.

“What do you mean that she refuses to take the cure,” I voice my concern out loud.

“Exactly what I stated. She has been utilizing her powers on anybody that has attempted to force her to take the cure, and that doesn’t exclude the hunter Ghost. She sent him flying into the wall just because he attempted to enter the room,” Speck tells me. “Once the door was closed she mind-linked Gutter and demanded that he brings you to her now,”

“The others have already taken their share. We didn’t have much so everybody received just a drop, literally so everyone is still extremely weak but we shall live. It’s so strange how only the royals and closes advisors, like myself was poisoned. It was all so well very coordinated. I mean like how would the wolves even know who to poisons other than the royals?”

“How bad is the poison affecting her?” I ignore Speck concerns for just a second. We can figure out everything once everybody is out of the red zone.

Speck slows down for just a second and says, “It’s bad. I can feel her slipping throughout our bond,” Her voice is no more than a whisper. “She’s dying,”

Instantly, my heart drops. “Not on my watch,” I growl. “And how long do we have until Cyrus gets here?” I choke as we begin to pick up our pace.

By now, the attack just has to be all over the media. I’m all but certain that all of the Kings are aware of what’s going in North America. Not the mention the fact that I reach out to him as my life was slipping not even an hour ago throughout our bond. My mate might be overseas at the moment but there is no doubt in my mind that he’s not heading home this very second.

He’s on his way and that’s a fact. He’s coming to save us all.

“No one knows,” Speck voices out her frustration. “Our communication sources have been down. I’ve tried to mind-link him as well, but his line of communication has been completed blank. I don’t know if it’s the distance or if he’s ignoring me all together. There has never been a time where I had to link with him while he has been so far away. Have you tied to reach him?” She questions. “You’re his beloved. You’ll have a better chance at reaching him than all of us. Your souls are bonded for life, you’ll always be able to feel one another when you reach out no matter what,”

“I’ve reached out during my fight with his ex,” I tell her in haste.

“His ex?” Speck questions as we finally approach the room that Aunt Katherine is in. I know this because Ghost is standing right in front of the door drenched in sorrow. He’s losing hope. This can not be easy for him. He doesn’t even seem to notice our presence. He looks so lost without her.

“Cyrus doesn’t have an ex. He never gives any women more than a night of death, other than you,”

“Well tell that to the psycho witch leech that almost killed my cousin,” Celine finally speaks.

“Who, Ravanna?” Speck truly does seem confused. “That’s impossible. Cyrus,”

“Allowed her to escape,” My cousin makes it her business to let me know. “I’ve heard her tell my uncle herself when she came to form an alliance with the Packs. She helped the lost luna find her way home again after the king of all kings almost ended her,”

“That can’t be, nothing your saying makes any sense,” Speck suggests, annoying the fuck out of me and my wolf. Both of them are.

“It doesn’t matter,” I snap. “What’s done is done, all the matters right now is preparing for the battle,”

“Embry,” Ghost finally realizes I’m here.“You have to save her now. She won’t allow anyone else inside of the room and every time she uses her powers against one of us. It takes more and more of her strength, please give this to her.” He hands me a tiny cup filled with blood, Ravana blood.

“Please, Embry! You must hurry,”

“Let her in,” I hear Aunt Katherine’s voice from the other side of the door.

I quickly take the cup from Gutter not wanting to waste another second walking straight into the room.

My heart drops the very moment I come in contact with her.

Cyrus POV.

The very moment I feel Nicklaus bond-slip the strong emotion of vengeance is all I seek.

Every enemy soul within a mile radius shall be rid of life by me. My vision is red and my ears are ringing. I take a stand before rushing in the royal mutt direction without a second thought. He dodges my monsters upcoming attack with ease so I sidestep him before I slam my hand into his chest and then grab onto his beating organ, second way from claiming his life. Seconds away from ending him when a sudden force brings the both of us down to our knees.

“Bow down bitches,” Claire’s voice isn’t her own as it rings loudly inside of my head.

Fuck, it stings. The ringing sound only seems to grow louder by the second, making my monster feel as if he’s seconds away from going mad. The harder I resist the louder the ringing gets.

The pain is beyond biding. It’s unbearable. Once again I’m forced to face another mind-crushing. experience. I can’t hear, see, or focus on anything but following my queen’s demands.

Seconds later time seems to stop, everything around me goes completely blank and my mind is now in a state of haze. Followed by a gentle breeze blowing within me, touching my soul and then it hits me.

Her scent.

My nostrils flair widely as the heavenly scent of wildflowers invades my senses.

Embry, she’s here! My breathtakingly beautiful beloved face is imprinted inside of my head.

She’s right here in front of me. I can’t help but gently touch her face just to ensure that she’s real.

“Sunshine,” I breathe. She’s really here. Of course, she is. Embry is my refuge, my sanctuary. There’s no wonder why my mind, body, and soul would seek out her presence while I’m going through hell. She’s my heaven on earth. My Goddess. I can feel the effect of candy lips pressing against my skin.

I take a second to just reveal in her presence, just a single second to enjoy her energy only to panic when I truly take her in. Not even a second can pass before a series of scorching hot rage travels within my chest. She’s hurt. My Embry’s Goddess of a face is covered in blood and purple bruises.

“Who did this to you?” I question, trying my hardest to control my rage as she stares directly into the eyes of my monster. He’s beyond the point of livid, a storm of wrathful murder conspires within our veins, running without blood.

Suddenly, it all makes sense. Embry’s in trouble. That’s exactly why her soul is calling out to me.

Her soul is searching for a spark, a charge. I’m her power. Embry needs me and that’s the only reason why I push my monster to the back of my mind and focus, surrendering all of the energy within me to her. She will live and that’s a promise, even if I have to kill myself in the process so I can transfer my life force into her body, and her attacker will meet their end.

“I love you,” she tells me as if she’s taking her last breath. “I love you more than life,” she whispers.

Fuck, no! She slipping, losing focus.

“No! No! No! Focus Embry,” my vicious roar makes the world spin around me. I’m losing her, I can feel our connection being sliced through as if a sharp knife is slashing through the center of my core, ripping me open. It feels like our bond is being snatched out of my chest.

I can’t breathe. It’s all too real.

My eyes begin to water for the first time in a long time as I watch the love of my lifetime utilize her last bit of strength to reach out and touch my face, killing me softly with this haunting picture inside of my head.

“Cyrus,” she calls out to me. Her angelic voice has been ridden speechless and been replaced by the sound of broken glass. “I, I,” she cries out to me. She’s giving up. She’s not even trying to fight back and that thought alone pushes me way over the edge.

“Need to fight this,” I command. Embry shall live and that’s, that. I refuse to lose her, I won’t and for the very first time in all of my existence, I’m scared shitless like a human child would be after awakening from a nightmare of their parents being rid of life before their very eyes.

It’s that deep to me, that real but then again it’s just so surreal like a bloody fucking nightmare. That’s it! This is just one very scary nightmare. This isn’t real. It can’t be. Embry is my Queen and I downright refuse to believe that my queen will not live to rule beside me.

It’s impossible. She needs to remember who the fuck she is. Embry belongs to me. She is the queen to the Ruthless King. Embry is magic.

“You’re the queen, my queen. The crown belongs to you my one and only. Fight for me. Fight for our love,” I cry out to her, allowing my pain to spill with each word. She needs to know how important she is to me, how important she is to the wellbeing of this entire world because blood God forbid if anything happens to her, I swear that no other soul on this earth shall be able to walk it.

“You are the Ruthless vampire king, Queen. You’re the true source to my powers, we are equals,” I remind her. This love shall last forever. Come on, baby fight for me,” I beg and plead before crashing my lips down onto her candy-painted lips transferring energy. I give her my life, my power, my all, everything that makes me, me.

She can have it all, who I am is hers to take. My monster is hers to control.

Embry is me and I am Embry. We are one.

“Believe in yourself, Embry. You are the one, kill the threat,” I tell her and just like that it all goes blank.

Embry’s POV.

“Aunt Katherine,” I rush to her side and place the vile of blood directly overtop her mouth. She’s lying down in a chair on the far end of the room.

Her once rich chestnut hair is void of life as it splatters out across her delicately crafted and now bruised face. If that’s isn’t enough to add to my frustration her expressive and large soulfully deep almond eyes are now souless black, lifeless but yet somehow someway her astonishingly sweet smile spreads out across her face the very moment she comes in contact with me.

Oh, my sweet Aunt Katherine. My heart breaks just from the sight of her. My tears spill.

“Don’t do that,” her angelic voice whispers, gently pushing my hand away. “A queen never folds in front of her subjects. You must cry in private, my sweet girl,”

“You aren’t my subject, you are my aunt,” I cry harder while placing the vile back directly in front of her lips. “Now, drink! You’ll feel better. I’ll feel better,”

“I can’t and will not,” she gently pushes my hand away once again. “It’s my time. It’s expected and accepted. By the night’s end, someone will need this more than me and they shall have it. Do you still have the gift that I’ve given you earlier on?” she asks out of nowhere. “It is important that you open it as directed,” she quickly adds in.

“Aunt Katherine, please drink this,” I beg, ignoring all else.” Please take this now, we are running out of time,” I place the vile directly in front of her lips once again. I don’t want to force her but I will if I have to. She will take the cure.

“And I don’t want to utilize my power on you as I utilized them on everyone else,” she’s in my head. “I don’t want our last encounter to be so aggressive, but it will be if you don’t listen to me,” she says with a half-smile.

“This will not be our last encounter,” my wolf makes her presence known before she gently grabs Auth Katherine by the face but with enough force to let her know that we mean business, and not even a second later our body goes flying across the room.

The other’s rush in the very moment that my back slams into the door.

“Embry,” growls out my cousin as she quickly helps me to her feet. Her wolf is also present.

“I guess we have to do this the hard way,” my wolf growls out inside of my head.

“I guess we shall,” Aunt Katherine once again responds to my thoughts out-loud.

“She won’t listen to us either,” my wolf tells the others before Ghost, Speck, Celine and I exchange a glance, letting it be known that we are all on the same accord. I don’t know why Aunt Katherine is fighting us on this matter but at the moment I don’t care. All that matters right now is how fast we can all get this cure into her system.

“Embry don’t forget everything I said to you,” Aunt Katherine says before she begins to cough up blood.

That’s when we all rush to her side but before we can get to her up in the air we go. She sends us flying right back to the other end of the with such force it knocks the wind out of all.

Oh, Goddess! She’s strong.

“Katherine, please,” Ghost attempts to reason while standing to his feet.“This is ridiculous. Why are you fighting us on this? It makes no sense, you’re making no sense,” he all but growls.

“I’m sorry you feel that way, but trust me when I say that it’s for the best. It’s my time,” her eyes are now filled with tears. I don’t get it. Why is she doing this?

“It’s my time to go, my love. Please, allow me to go in peace, or else,” she begs him. I can feel her pain throughout our bond.

She’s purposely allowing herself to hurt. She is purposely choosing death.

“If not for me then for Cyrus,” Ghost pleads once again. “He will never be the same without you, You know that Katherine, None of us well,”

“Embry, that’s where you come in,” her voice invades my head but before I could respond Gutter and Anastasia come rushing in.

“My Queen, thank the Blood God your safe,” Gutter says to me and Anastasia doesn’t hesitate to pull me in her embrace. “Now, that we are all here. We’ve got to go, now.” Gutters say in a haste. “I don’t know how they did it but the wolves are in the tunnel and they are heading this way. The bunker isn’t safe,”
