Chapter |23|~ Moment 4 life~
Unedited.
Embry POV.
*Flash Back, Still around two moons ago.*
The gender reveal is a huge success, so far.
Absolutely amazing! Everyone who was expected to attend has come, except for the famous southern Alpha.
Apparently, she has run into a hiccup with some vampires. The word around the wild west is that she has exceeded the expectation by successfully forming a plan to raid the ruthless vampire king palace, so she has no free time to spear.
I don’t really know the details because I always excuse myself whenever my people start to talk about vampires. It can become a little draining at times. To sum it all up, the southern alpha couldn’t make it, but Beta Bella, who happens to be her little sister has come to celebrate on her behalf.
She’s such the southern charm.
Moving along, Aunt Elena really did her thing by making sure that the western packhouse is up to part.
She filled the house up with gold, royal blue and pretty in pink balloons that each has the word boy or girl written with cursive gold letters on the front of them. Blue is for boy and pink is for girl, and gold is for both it’s the common gender reveal colors for the pups if you ask her.
With that being said, the balloons are by far not the only items of those colors inside of this house.
In fact, all the decorations fall within those three color ranges.
The plates are pretty pink, royal blue and gold. The napkins are the same, the cups are mostly gold, but I’ve seen a few that are pink and blue as well.
Do you see what I mean? Yes, Aunt Elena really has outdone herself.
My favorite set up is the cake table decor, which consists of a gold-framed maternity picture of Ryan painting Kaya’s stomach, pretty pink and royal blue of course. There are some Echinacea flowers, wild roses, and some spotted Joe-Pye weed. Lots and lots of flowers. Wilde women love flowers. There is also some gold vases filled with some milkweed. My favorite.
To add to the hype, the table is filled with tasty treats. Starting with blueberry muffins, strawberry muffins, strawberry pie, blueberry pie, strawberry shortcake, blueberry cheesecake, sugar cookies covered with pink icing, sugar cookies covered with blue icing, strawberry lemonade in a big glass container, blueberry lemonade in an equally big glass container. There is even some gold punch.
Aww! I’m in heaven. As far as, I’m concerned, every expected she-wolf in this continent can have their gender reveal in our territory whenever they want.
“You’re drooling,” acknowledges a familiar voice from behind me. Luke, The western Alpha. He’s a stand-up wolf. Every werewolf respects him and every she-wolf wants to make pups with him but everyone knows that Alpha Luke has his eyes on one.
I’m that one.
“I am not,” I say, turning to face him as my cheeks form a rosy pink blush. My face is always changing fifty shades of pink when I’m around him. His pearly white smile has that effect on me.
“You look beautiful, little Wilde,” he says using my nickname that he created for me. Then, he lowers his head to place his lips directly by my ear. “But I told you not to show off that hot ass body of yours. It’s for my eyes, and my eyes, only,” finishes Luke with a Chester cat smile.
I can feel his smile on my ear.
As always my cheeks are basked in pink powder. I told you my face is always changing fifty shades of pink when I’m around him.
“Actually,” I start to say while pulling away from him. “I thought I told you that I belong to myself into my mate come along’s.”
We had this conversation over and over. Luke and I used to date. Everyone expected me to become the Western Luna, but me.
I refuse to mate with anyone other than my mate. No matter, how hot he is or no matter how my times he makes me blush.
He lifts his head up and rolls his eyes. Those eyes.
That yellow-golden Wilde wolfs like eyes. Of course, he’s not a Wilde. That would be gross, but he does have permanent golden eyes like a Wilde Wolf and it does become really hard to out-write reject them.
When I said he was hot that wasn’t an understatement. Goddess has open-heartily blessed this Alpha wolf.
I mean really blessed him with his high-cheek bones and chiseled jaw. Plus, his lips are pretty, pink, and plumped. Oh, and I’ll admit that they are pretty tasty as well. Let’s not forget about his thick eyebrows and full but lengthy eyes lashes, which hypes up those really extraordinary golden eyes that I can’t stop looking into.
So yes, Alpha Luke is hot and handsome. Also, he’s tall, lean, and strong, which is a plus.
Any she-wolf would willingly lay down on their back’s and allow him to hump her. They might even allow him to hump their leg if he was into that sort of kinky arrangement, but I'm not with his pants monster humping any parts of my body.
Sorry hot Alpha you can’t pop my cherry.
“So that doesn’t mean you could walk around with no clothes on,” he continues on with his point.
“Hey,” I say, tapping his shoulders. “I do have clothes on,” and I do.
Now, normally I’m a summer dress type of girl when I’m home and a sweater and jeans type of girl when I’m in the North, but today I decided to put a little more effort into my appearance.
I’m wearing a two-piece sheer short set, which is embroidered branches filled with pink and blue flowers. Aunt Elena, demanded we all wear pink or blue. I decided to try both. She does hope Kaya has more than one remembers.
Anyway, my top is a sheer bralette the same pattern and material as the shorts. I’ve decided to wear some white high-waisted pants and white bralette underneath the sheer material, so I won’t show too much skin.
And Celine just had to add some finishes touches by making me wear a black leather belt with a big gold buckle, a gold bracelet, a black furry purse with a gold chain and two necklaces filled with charms.
Don’t ask me where she gets these things from because I won’t know. If I had to guess, I’ll say that she is doing trades with the hunters, or she bribes the Northern Pack Warriors to stop at the market for her during their runs. Who, knows, especially when the person in question is Celine? The world will never know.
Speaking of which, I can see Celine making her way over here through the crowd.
She has also freshened up. Now wearing a soft pink and white tie-dye, butterfly printed, spaghetti-strapped dress. The dress is short, really short, mid-thigh length may be, and the middle of the dress is cut out, showing off her toned stomach.
She looks hot, which is her norm. Celine is not and has never been afraid of showing the hot body of hers off, which our Goddess blessed her with.
Again, please don’t ask me where or how she managed to come by a dress as such. “Come on, Embry,” says Luke, now holding onto my left hand. “Mate with me,”“Yeah, mate with him, you know you want to,” Celines joins in, finally reaching the two of us. “Before, I do,” she playfully mumbles underneath her breath.
“Your not my type,” responds Luke while flashing a charming smile. “This wolf only has eyes for one Wilde Wolf,” he adds in, before kissing my shoulder. “Now, if you excuse me, ladies I have to go meet with some very important guest. I’ll see you later, Embry.”
“Of course! You go run along you all important Alpha guy,” mocks Celine. “I’ll keep your sexy little date some company, while you go mingle with the important people,” she says, stretching the word important people.
Typical Celine.
“He is not my date,” I tell her off.
“Sure,” they both say in unison. Oh, Goddess! I just roll my eyes. There is no point in arguing with them. Everyone thinks that I will give into his request sooner or later. They are all wrong.
The very moment Luke is out of sight and hearing range Celine starts with her usual ranting of 4-1-1.
“So! You’ll never guess who the important people are that your future mate was talking about meeting with,” Celine confidentially whispers, while grabbing onto my arm and dragging me through the crowd.
“No, your right I’ll never guess,” I tell her the truth, “And you know what, I don’t want to know either. Oh, yeah, and can you stop calling him my future mate. He’s not my future anything.”
“Sure he’s not,” she responds in an (I don’t believe you type of voice tone.) “But that’s neither here, nor there at this moment. You got your whole life to decide. Anyway, just take a wild guess,” she stops walking and practically begs.
“I don’t want to,” I wave my hand dismissively.
“Please,” further begs Celine, looking rather disappointed. Peer pressure suck, I don’t suck into it, unless Celine is the one pulling me down.
“(Alright) then,” I say to her flashing a sheepish grin. Who could be that important that would bring out Celine’s enthusiastic side.?
Um, let me guess! Any hot wolf in this room. No, any hot wolf in this entire continent of North America. “I don’t know,” I say. I don’t know. It’s too hard, with Celine you’ll never know.
“Can you just tell me.”
“Nope,” her tone is noncommittal, and her face gives nothing away.
Beats, me! I don’t care to know anyway.
“Cool,” I tell her, continuing to walk through the crowd. There are so many people who present everyone, who is somebody who is present. And I mean everyone. There are way too many scents invading my nostrils. I need some fresh air, crowded places are no really my thing.
“No, not cool,” calls out Celine running right behind me. “You could at least pretend like you want to know.”
“Embry! Celine!” Aunt Elena calls out, preventing Celine and I from continuing on with our conversation. The both of necks stretch as we search the crowd for her. My eyes land on her first. She’s on the patio area, looking more excited than I’ve encountered from her, which is super, super, excited.
Aunt Elena is always happy and cheerful, but the smile that she is wearing today. Are one of those types of smiles that you’ll always remember.
“Come on, ladies,” she squeaks. “Kaya’s about to reveal what she’s having.”
Those words are all it takes for the both of us to run hand in hand out onto the patio area with a couple of excited giggles slipping from out of the both of our lips. The crowd basically breaks apart as we make our way through.
Everyone is smiling from ear to ear. We are all so happy. It’s a celebration, whenever all the packs link up.
This day will forever be one of my favorite memories. Always.
I wish I could live this moment for the rest of my life.
Peace, love, and happiness fills my entire soul.
By the time, we make our way to the patio area the other members of our family are already present.
“Come Embug,” says my dad as his piercing icy blue gaze falls onto me. He’s standing directly beside uncle Maddox, and my brother Ruq, who are all holding a glass bottle of bad-wolf brew.
His earthy rain-soaked pine and fresh patchouli hugs me tightly as he wraps his arms around me. I sigh blissfully as I take it in.
I love my dad's scent.
“There is someone I want you to meet after Kaya reveals the gender of the pup.”
“Or pups,” adds in Aunt Elena from behind us and Kaya’s dad, Uncle Jacob chuckles into her forehead before planting a gentle kiss on the top of her head.
“How’s Beta Rendell,” my sister questions uncle Maddox, drawing the attention to herself.
Uncle Maddox is well, he’s uncle Maddox. I don’t really have a relationship with him anymore, now that I’m no longer a pup besides training, but he is still my uncle. Werewolves in the North say that his heart has grown cold over the years. Frozen ice solid.
“Beta Rendell is doing just peachy, not that it’s any of your business,” he responds to her with a slight growl.
See! What I mean? That’s just uncle Maddox.
“Here they come,” squeaks, Aunt Elena, jumping up from off her mate's laps. “Here,” she says, passing everyone their balloon. Blue for a boy! Pink for girl! Gold for more than one!
Of, course I collect a blue one and Aunt Elena collects about five golden balloons.
She’s so extra! Cute, but extra!
My eyes land onto Kaya and Ryan, who are now walking down the sandy walkway hand in hand.
They look so adorable and absolutely in love. Aww, I can’t. My heart can’t take their cuteness.
Kaya looks even better than she did earlier today, wearing a magical long, puffy, tulle, pretty pink and royal blue dress. Her hair has been straightened to frame her face and her vivid crystal blue eyes are big and bright, blending in with the pink, orange, and sky blue sun setting sky.
Ryan's big brown eyes are glossy as he looks down at his mate. He’s a lot taller than her. She is his little midget.
Just like earlier today, Kaya jet black hair blows with the wind, and she can’t help but to curve her lips into a big, bright, and breathtaking smile. She’s smiling so hard that her face may break and I can’t blame her. If I was her. I’ll smile that hard too. She is truly blessed.
I match her smile as she looks up at the patio, which is quite some ways from the sandy floor. Once she’s satisfied that she has all of our attention she nods her head, giving all of us the go.
My family members exchange glances and smiles at one another before we release our choice of balloon into the sky.
Shortly after, the other party guest soon follows suit, causing the chain reaction of royal blue, pretty pink, and gold balloons to float high in the sky, breezing past the now rising moon. It’s beautiful.
My eyes glance over in the direction of the freshly mated couple. They are watching the scene with teary eyes and wide smiles.
Followed, by Ryan wrapping his arm around Kaya’s waist holding her in place as she swiftly opens up a cylinder container that’s covered with brown pasted paper. I watch them with a wide-eyed stare as Kaya pulls a string that creates a loud whistle.
Within a second the sound of exploding firecrackers pounds into the air and a rush of wind charges from out of the shell, entering the night sky with a big boom!
The crowd goes crazy as royal blue lights shot shape of spheres, cubes, and cylinders high into the air, revealing the obvious.
“It’s a boy,” the crowd cheers for all to hear while jumping up and down into the air.
Everyone, I mean everyone is screaming the sound of jolly joy to the top of their lungs, including Uncle Maddox. He’s going crazy, laughing and joining in on all the fun saying, “I told you so,” to Aunt Elena who face is covered into a beautiful mess of happy tears.
It’s beautiful. The scene before my eyes is absolutely beautiful.
A picture-perfect moment that shall always be close to my heart and implanted into my head.
Celine and I jump from off the patio hand in hand with wide teary eyes and big smiles of our own. The wind rushes around me as I fall down. Gosh, it feels so good.
The both of us gracefully land down on the ground with a loud thump. Then, we take off the very moment our feet sink into the cool, almost cold sand.
Within a second, both of us are in front of Kaya.
“Congratulation,” we say unison, embracing Kaya in one of our famous group hugs, and I believe it’s safe to say that all three of our eyes are releasing the ocean from down onto the shores floor.
Ryan stands to the side and quietly watches us.
He knows it chicks before dicks, as Celine likes to remind him all the time about our little click.
“I can’t believe I’m going to be a mommy,” confesses Kaya, pulling away from us. Her make-up is now ruined, thanks to us.
“Me neither,” confess Celine, she’s still crying a river. This is my favorite side of her. The side that not too many people get to see. This is her best side.
“But you know what,” she says kissing her little sister's forehead. “You’re going to be the best got damn hot mama that my nephew could ever ask for.”
Yeah, she really is.
“Yes you are,” I add-in.“I’m so, so, happy for you. I love you so much.” I just can’t stretch that enough.
“I love you more, Embry,” responds Kaya.
“Oh, and I wanted to say thank you for everything. I know your way too modest to admit that you planned this entire event, but I know you did. My mother told me. So, Thank you,” she says while pulling me back into a hug.
“Your welcome,” I whisper into her ear, before kissing her cheek and then hesitantly pulling away. She deserves this.
“So, girl’s,” said Celine, interrupting our sentimental moment as always. “How about a little competition for old time sake,” she announces.
Here she goes again. The Wilde wolf in her just had to do it. Typical Celine. Ryan chuckles from behind me, most likely thinking the same thing.
“Celine, I don’t think it’s the time, f...” I start to say, but Kaya cuts me when she says, “I’m down!”
“Hell yeah, the first one to read and yellow flags skips cleaning duties,” shouts Celine to the top of her lungs, before taking off towards the ocean in a full-fledged run.
Oh, no she doesn’t. All of a sudden, I break off in full-fledged run of my own, chasing behind her. It doesn’t take me long at all to catch up to her. In fact, at this point, I’m outrunning her.
“Cheetah legs,” Celine’s shouts out from behind me.
Keyword: Behind me.
“Slowpoke,” I shout back just seconds away from hitting the ocean.
I don’t know why Celine would issue a challenge that she knows that she could never win, especially if I’m one of the players.
I’m one of the fastest running wolves if not the fastest running wolves within the Northern and Western pack, or at least that’s what both packs like to say.
The crowd releases a series of cheers and chants as they catch on to our competition.
Wolves and their competitive nature, I tell you!
Some wolves are chanting for, Celine.
Some are chanting for me and some wolves are chanting for Kaya.
Oh, snap! Kaya. She’s pregnant!
There’s no way that I’m allowing her to lose this competition. Nope! Not that I’ll ever allow her to clean up anything, but still today is her day. This is her win.
Before my feet can hit the ocean floor I do a quick detour. I’ve got to help Kaya out.
Celine releases an exciting snicker as I run passed her once again, “loser,” she calls out, not breaking her run. I suspect that she already knew that I would turn around for Kaya. Matter of fact, she was banking on it.
Mother Freaker!
She knew! Yes, she knew! No worries, I’ll still be able to fly past her. Instincts take over and I jump into the air only to shift into my gray and white wolf. I land gracefully onto four paws directly in front of Kaya, then I lower my frame, so she can hop on to my back and the crowd goes crazy.
Followed by a choir of wolf whistles. Kaya hops on with a smile, hanging on tight as I take back off. Once again, I take off in the direction of the ocean, and the sand blows all around me.
Celine is already swimming in the middle of the ocean at this point.
The next thing I know is my four paws sinking into the cold oceans water, so I shift into human form with Kaya still clinging onto my back. Kaya’s dress is extra weight, but I don’t complain.
“Let’s go, Embry! Let’s go,” our audience shouts. “Let’s go, Embry! Let’s go!”
“Let’s go, Embry! Let’s go,” Kaya adds in before we dive in and the next thing I know is a huge wave crashing into my body, washing over me, and pulling the both us underneath. Kaya is still clinging on to me, refusing to let go.
No worries I got this I think to myself.
Ignoring the stinging sensation from the water rushing up my nose, blurring my vision and running down my lungs, I start to flap my legs back and forth. Slowly, pulling the both of us up towards the ocean surface, refusing to allow the tide to pull us down further.
More seconds elapses before we reach the surface, Kaya and I both gasp for air, then almost immediately my arms starts to go to work, alternating from side to side, down-sweeping, in-sweeping, up-sweeping and then recovering. My legs continue to do their job as well.
Did I mention that I’m also a good swimmer? One of the best that the Northern and Western Packs has to offer as well, at least that’s what they all like to say.
A few seconds later, we catch up with Celine. We’re side by side, hand by hand, and both us are closing in on the goal, but unfortunately for Celine, my hand reaches out to touch the red and yellow flags first.
I win. Again, the crowd goes crazy from the packhouse and Kaya hysterically jumps up and down on top of my back, nearly choking me to death and pulling the both of us underneath the rushing current. Her belly is bouncing up and down, like a basketball.
“We win sucker,” she squeals, coughing up water and loosens up her hold. Thank, Goddess! I can taste the salt on my tongue as I spit out some water. Yes, we won!
“Cheaters,” curses Celine, while quickly swimming over towards us. “It was supposed to be every wolf for themselves.”
She’s such a sore loser. Before I have a chance to tell her about herself a sudden wave crashes into us, washing over me, pulling me underneath, taking the breath right out of my lungs and this time I don’t feel the weight of Kaya.
Within seconds, I’m surrendered to pregnant darkness, heading downward. Then, abruptly a slow cascade of water goes up my nose. Determined to resist the urge I hold my breath for a while, feeling like a huge wet wolf paw has suddenly been clamped down over my face.
I can’t move a single muscle as I slowly sink down towards the bottom of the ocean floor. No matter how hard my mind begs me to push my feet, I can’t. It feels like an invisible anchor is dragging me further and further down into the darkens.
The color of the water is so beautifully blue. My mind suddenly wonders as it all starts to go blank.
In milliseconds, all I can see is black as if I don’t exist. At that exact second, I hear her. Kaya.
She’s floating in my subconscious, calling out for help, and screaming for me to wake up. She’s screaming for me to save myself.
In the next moment, I feel it. The pressure, followed by water rushing from out of my lungs.
I gasp for air, while slowly opening my now stinging eyes, but it’s not Kaya that I see through my blurry vision.
No, it’s my mate. Cyrus.
