Chapter 18

Previously on The alpha's rogue

The already shifted rogue growled at my mother vigorously then lunged at me, almost killing me but my mother..."

Black magic...? Didn't the witches stop using that magic as it was forbidden?

"You annoy me more than I ever thought possible. But I still want to spend every irritating moment with you. I will always love you."

"You look so beautiful." Landon said as he approached us.

He crouched down and started running his hands in our semi-thick fur.

—————

Alexia's POV

As we sprinted through the forest, I started to gain my ability to somehow glide between the forest's nature.

Running in the forests isn't easy at all. It's usually full of trees, bushes and different kinds of flowers. But the feeling of running, soil under your claw, wind running through your fur and yourself racing without a target. If you're not a werewolf, then you won't really know how we truly feel.

Throughout the run, We let our wolves take control of our bodies and bolt freely and play together. I really must say that they bonded much quicker than we did.

We ran for hours till dusk and I was really exhausted from all of the run but it was worth it, not shifting for years is irritating.

We just arrived to where Landon hid our clothes. Trees...Landon hid our clothes in random trees, how did he manage to find them, I have no idea. Will I ever know how? Again, I have no idea.

He shifted first and wore his pants before coming out, leaving me to quickly shift before he comes back and I kill him for peaking at my nude body.

"Are you done?"

"Almost! Don't come."

"But you have already finished." He said as he poked his head from behind the tree.

"How come you are like this?! Have some decency!"

"Come on Come on, we need to feed you before you get any thinner than you already are." He chuckled as he lifted me up, holding me bridal style as my arms snaked around his neck for extra security."

"Landon put me down!"

"What's wrong with carrying my mate?" He whines like a child.

"It's embarrassing Landon, put me down before anyone sees us."

"And what will happen when someone sees us? It's not like I'm kidnapping you." He smirked.

"But-"

"You're not wearing shoes anyway, I don't want you to hurt your feet."

"We're werewolves!"

"I don't care." He sang.

"I want you to go and get ready right away; We're going on a date."

"A date?" I questioned him.

"Yeah. You know a date where two people in a relati-"

"I know what a date is! I'm just making sure I heard right." I said by the time we finally arrived at the door.

"Heard right? What's wrong with going on a date with me? Do I stink?"

"No you don't stink. It's just...Who would think that we would go on a date...quickly..."

"Quickly? Nah I think we're a bit late, I should've taken you a long time ago but seeing that our relationship wasn't pretty good at that time, well I didn't trust you not to run away." Once again, he grinned.

"Aha..."

"And what should I wear?" I asked as he gently let me down.

"Um..Just simple, anything you'd feel comfortable in."

"What are you two talking about?" Emma suddenly appeared out of no where.

"Emma stop appearing like a desperate lost soul!"

All of the colours of Landon's face almost got drained.

"I'm not desperate. I just want to make sure that I'm an aunt soon." She simply stayed.

"Go now Lexi, I'll meet you in 30."

"Alright."

"Where are you two going?"

"Didn't you hear about The curiosity killed the cat?"

"Fuck your idioms Landon. Just answer the question."

"We're going on a date." I easily told her to stop her from her ranting.

"And where do you intend to take her Landon?"

"That is non of your business now let us go, we're running late."

"Come on Lexi, I'll help you get ready."

"No it's okay Emma, I'm wearing comfortable clothes today."

"You are in deep trouble when you get back Landon."

She glared at her brother as she stomped away.

Maybe she knows where we are going then.

"What got her panties in a twist?" Landon question, mostly to himself but I heard him. I also nudged him in the ribs.

"Don't trash talk her, she's your sister."

"She started it."

"Stop acting like a child."

"I'm not."

"You are."

"I'm not having this talk with you. Just go get ready Landon."

I said as I went to the kitchen, with him trailing behind me.

As I took a fresh apple to eat it, he grabbed it from me.

"What the hell?"

"You don't eat well, I'm not letting you stuff your stomach before going on a date with me."

"I'm not going to get stuffed from an apple."

"I don't care about what you say. Go get ready already, ladies tend to get ready in centuries of a time."

"Ladies tend to get ready in centuries of a time." I mimicked him as I went to our room.

"Don't be a child."

"Whatever!" I yelled as I entered the room and slammed the door behind me.

.

.

.

.

"We're here."

The words I have been waiting for were finally announced, making me run out of the car.

"Well someone's eager." Landon chuckled as he got out of the car himself.

"No. Don't think so full of yourself, I'm just glad that I'm finally standing."

"Don't lie. The car ride takes 15 minutes. If there's traffic."

He said to which I simply scoffed.

"Come on, let's get inside. This is my favourite diner."

He took my hand and we walked side by side as we entered.

There greeted us the diner's owner.

Landon has a very good friendship with the owner whom at first I thought her Landon's grandma. Yes, the owner is so old and as nice that I thought she was Landon's grandma. You know those grandmas who give you cookies after midnight without your mom knowing? That’s her.

Just think about. You're entering your favourite diner and the owner comes and smacks your head almost yelling at you for not calling her lately and because you didn't tell her about your mate whom she didn't meet before the ball.

I took a liking to the lady, she's one of the very few people I liked in my life. Her short grey hair complimented her pale blue eyes. They shone with affection as she smiled at me. She was short. Shorter than me but then again I was taller than average females.

"Well she is quite a darling Landon, You'd better be treating her well young man."

"I am!"

She huffed then continued,

"Yeah whatever you say young man, He's treating you well, right, dear?"

And suddenly I got invited in the conversation...yay...

"Yes, don't worry. If he does something I'll make sure I tell you Madame."

"Oh gosh! Don't call me that, I'm young." She laughed.

"Call me Beatrice." She once again smiled while taking both of my hands in hers'.

"I'm Alexia."

"Oh I know my dear, everyone knows." She said to which I felt my cheeks get red.

"Alright enough, I'm gonna borrow her now if you don't mind." Landon rolled his eyes to which she returned the roll and scoffed.

"Don't say borrow her, She's not your toy young man.

Good Alexia, there's a table of two at the very far right corner of the diner. It should be free right now, You go first and I'll have a quick talk with Landon."

I nodded then made a bee line towards the "destined" table.

Surely they were talking about something serious; Beatrice's face was worried while Landon's poker face seemed to almost crack from anger. A few gestures from Beatrice then looks like Landon got an earful from her. His face was almost fully drained of colour and kept gulping as she drew her finger across her chin while smiling, showing her bright-pearl teeth.

"What was all of this about?" I asked as soon as he sat opposite to me.

"You don't wanna know. Really, you don't want to know that."

"Looked serious though...If you have something important to do then we could go back if you want..."

"Don't you want to be on this date with me?" He gave me his puppy eyes.

"No, I'm just worried. I also felt your slight anger and worry through the mate bond..."

"Let's order first then do something." He cut me off, changing the conversation. I let him though.

I sighed as I opened the small menu. In the end, we both ordered classic burgers, french fries and chocolate milkshakes.

"Let's play a game."

"A game?" I questioned him.

"Yeah. It's simple, each of us will question the other by turn."

Uh oh. I know where this is going.

"Stop worrying, I won't ask you anything about your past although I would've loved to." He said to which I send him a deadly glare.

"Come on, chill out. I won't ask you about that but you can ask me as much as you want, fair enough?"

"How is that fair to you?"

"Don't mind that. Now what do I smell like?"

"You start the game by asking me this question? Really?"

He simply shrugged.

"Lavender and Jasmine."

He hummed in response.

"What is it?"

"Nothing. I'm just fascinated. You smell chocolate and strawberry."

"I figured that."

"And how is that?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Well you certainly made a point when you licked my me when I had chocolate syrup from the food fight." I grinned.

"Whatever." He rolled his eyes clearly frustrated from the memory of Noah and I's unison.

"What would you do if you haven't found your mate?"

"I don't know...I guess I never thought about that much. Just kept wishing the moon goddess for a mate and that's it. What about you?"

I kept quiet. Then before I opened my mouth to change the subject, Beatrice came and served us our food.

"Shouldn't a waiter do that?" Landon asked her.

"Oh I had to make sure that Alexia's alright, right dear?" She smiles at me and I giggled.

"Have fun you two, if you need anything just ask for me or one of the waiters."

"Alright alright." Landon embarrassedly said.

"Why are you so embarrassed?" I smirked, asking as soon as she went away.

"I'm not."

"Yes you are."

"Am not."

"You are."

"Can we just eat while continuing the game!"

"Just admit it. You are embarrassed. It's not something bad you know." I said as I dipped my freshly-made heavenly-tasted fries in the ketchup.

"This is so good." I almost moaned.

"Thought so." He chuckled.

"This is the best diner around here. I often come here since I could remember."

We ate and talked about random things. Mainly him insulting his siblings and me scolding him.

Thankfully, he didn't ask again about the previous question.

As we bid our goodbyes to Beatrice and left, Landon's face suddenly became void of emotions. Once again, I felt him get worried again through the bond.

"What is it?"

"What?"

"What is happening. It's the second time, your getting worried. What is happening."

"Nothing."

"You always say nothing when something's happening. Why can't you tell me!"

I yelled but, he didn't mutter a single word.

His face scrunched in anger as his knuckles became white. He gripped the steering wheel. Hard.

I huffed in anger as well but kept silent. I stared out of the car's window, staring at sky.

After sometime, we arrived. We both got out of the car at the same time but still, we didn't talk to each other since my little outburst.

"Welcome home you two, how was your date? Emma tol-"

"Not right now mother." Landon growled as he vanished goddess knows where.

"It's alright darling, he didn't mean to. Something happened and it's not like anyone would like to hear it while on their first date much less hear it in general."

"He doesn't want to tell me anything. As mates, we should stay and help each other right?"

"I know Landon can sometimes be...Mysterious but trust me, he thinks it's for your own good."

"Well clearly he's wrong. I'm going to my room now, excuse me." I muttered, not sure if she heard the last part but more or less, she's a werewolf. She'll be able to pick up my mutters.

I changed and got ready to sleep but as unlucky as I am, I couldn't have even a wink of sleep. Lying in the bed, I stared at the wall.

Anger. Too much of anger was rushing through the bond. Why is suddenly so angry? What is so bad that he wants me to know nothing about?"

Speaking of the devil. The room's knock started turning, opening, Landon quietly entered the room. Not sure if he got surprised when he saw me laying wide awake.

"You're still up?"

"Clearly."

I bitterly muttered, silencing both of us.

He stood there for a while staring at me as I secretly eyed him from the corner of my eye. He then went to change his clothes and came back

He slid into the bed beside me but kept his gaze at me.

"I'm sorry, I ruined our first date. I just want to keep you safe, unharmed."

"Yeah..."

"Will you please talk to me?"

I got frustrated at his request.

"What is there to talk about? Aren't I your mate? We should solve everything together. Besides that, I'm a Luna beside you. An equal to you! I was being a brat but I said I'd give it a shot since I'm stuck and I started liking it, why are you making me distant suddenly?"

"I don't want you hurt, alright?

"What is there to hurt me!"

He sighed as he sat up.

"Promise me you won't do any rash decisions?"

"Yes."

"Someone's after you."
