Broken Vows

Chapter 12:

Where Darkness Hides

Cadmus POV

“Okay, let’s start at the beginning; what are you, and why are you so afraid of him? What do you know of his plans? Just tell me everything.” I order the girl. I need to know anything that might be helpful. I need to know what I am facing. What manner of monster is Hadeon?

Theia sits up a little straighter and brushes the tears away before they have a chance to fall. She looks calm and collected again.

“Right, the beginning. Hadeon and I are part witch and part Fae. Our father is well, important. He happens to be the King of the Fae. I never met him, and I don’t care to.”

Now I am shocked. I knew Gavin had his fair share of conquests and then some but children? Theia is watching me and gives a nod.

“My mother was one of the King’s many loves. If you would want to call that love. He told her he would make her his queen and would soon bring her to the castle to live with him forever. He just needed time. He always needed more time. My mother became impatient, and she was pregnant with me. She went to his castle demanding to see him. The King of the Fae pretended he didn’t know her or my brother, who was about ten years old.

My mother was never the same after that. She had been teaching Hadeon magic his whole life, and when I was born, she began to teach him dark and frightening things. She wanted revenge on the Fae. She wanted revenge on everything. I grew up afraid of them and the things they could and would do.

As Fae, Hadeon and I have stronger magic than average witches, but Hadeon wants more. My mother warped him into believing that he should rule everything. That the world should be remade in his image. She made him something so dark, and he followed her willingly. There is so much darkness in him now.

When our mother started to become ill, she cursed me because she knew I would never willingly follow them down the path they chose. She cursed me to obey my brother, and I had to do everything he told me to do from that day on. Most of the time, he would just ignore me, but when he came up with the plan to win Willow and begin this new world, I had to do something. I wanted to go and warn the Supreme but Hadeon found out and killed her before I could stop him; I tried to save her.

Then Hadeon gave me an order to not interfere with his plans again. Luckily he wasn’t very specific and told me not to interfere with Willow or speak to her, but he didn’t say I couldn’t talk to you, so I came to get you out of that castle before Hadeon killed you as well.” She takes a breath and leans back, looking a little relieved, to finally tell someone what is going on and what she tried to stop.

“Why didn’t he just kill you?” I ask. I know it’s a difficult question, but why keep this girl alive?

“He doesn’t want to kill me yet. He needs my sight. I can see the future. Well, pieces of it anyway, and he uses me to see into other people’s futures and to put himself in the right place at the right time. Knowing what will happen has its advantages. He knew right where to be and when so he could warp the bond you and Willow should have shared.”

Now Victor and I are angry and raging again. I’m having a hard time holding the dragon Back. “I knew he had done something!” Victor growls through me, and smoke starts puffing out of my nostrils with every angry, heaving breath.

“I will Kill him.” I roar taking over again, trying not to shift and do something crazy.

“No, unfortunately, it won’t be you, and I’m sorry.” Theia says, looking sad again, “If you go, you will die. I can’t let that happen.” Theia raises her hands and a silver light that looks like nothing I have ever seen wraps around me like silver smoke. “I promise I will wake you as soon as possible, but he is coming for me, and if he finds you, Willow will be broken. You don’t know it but what is left of your love for her is what will save her.”

I try to fight my way out of the silver light. Soon, all my limbs are heavy, and the world is becoming a blinding light of nothing.

Theia’s POV

Now that I have the dragon king safe, I can return to wake him as soon as Hadeon isn’t coming for me. If he finds me, then he’ll just find Cadmus. Killing the dragon will kill the bond and allow Hadeon to have complete power over Willow. He has far too much power as it is, and it is getting harder to hide things from him. I don’t want to tell him everything I see, but he is forcing me to. Luckily, I have been able to hide things just by carefully wording my answers. I sometimes want to die just to be free of him and this curse my mother put on me. But as long as he is alive, I am his to command, and he has made me do some genuinely evil things. I just need to be a little smarter than him, and as much as I hate to say it, he is brilliant.

I think I might be close to finding a way to break the curse, but I need more time, which is something I am running out of quickly. I give one lost look to the sleeping King. I know I will be back for him just as soon as possible so we can stop Hadeon. I just hope my plan works. I have seen several ways this can all turn out, and most of them are very unpleasant for me. I’m just holding on to a slim bit of hope.

“Okay, dear brother, let’s see if this works?” I mutter as I seal up the cave. Soon the entrance is just the same as the rest of the mountain of solid rock. With Cadmus tucked away and alive, Hadeon will never completely have Willow. Ultimately there will always be a slight connection to Cadmus, and hopefully, she can draw on his strength somehow. I personally think she is a fool for falling for Hadeon so quickly, but I also know firsthand how strong my brother’s spells can be.

Now I just need to put enough distance between Cadmus and me. I shift to the large white barn owl. Hadeon isn’t the only one gifted in shifting. I take flight and I head East. I need to start the second step of this plan. I hope to have Hadeon confront me in the same place I was cursed, and I can draw on the magic still there and the few spells I have set all around, I might be able to pull it off. So, for the first time in a long time, I have a glimmer of hope I could be free of him.

Hadeon’s POV

I can’t help but feel so very pleased with myself. Nearly everything is going to plan. Willow gave herself to me willingly. Judging from last night and her moans and screams of pleasure, she seems to have no complaints. So long as she behaves and keeps being my good little pet, everything will be fine for her.

I only have one problem, that dragon I was going to kill has managed to escape, thanks to dear Theia. My Sweet little sister will have difficulty convincing me not to kill her as soon as I find her. I just need her to tell me where the beast is, then I can kill him, and Willow will be my pet. Until I can kill the dragon, I will have to be careful not to upset her. My hold on her is still superficial, and the spell that keeps her feeling bonded to me is weaker than I would like. The spell should be fine for now, but too much time or strain in her belief in me could shatter it. Another reason that I wanted to rush the marriage ceremony. Those vows we took last night work well to help in aiding my own spells on Willow.

I pull myself out of Willow’s arms as she smiles in her sleep. The sun came up hours ago, but she is tired from last night. She was far more enthusiastic than I would have expected for an innocent thing like her. Perhaps being stuck with her won’t be as bad as I had initially thought. I have great plans for this world, and she may actually be just the right Queen for this new world. If not, she can always be replaced, I have worked too hard already, to let anyone stop me but there is still so much more to do.

I get out of bed, searching for my pants. Once they are on, I walk out into the forest, breathing deeply. I need to find my sister and that fucking animal. I hate the shifters; they are no better than animals. My mother always told me how witches and wizards used to rule over them, and I want to bring us back to those days of glory. Those with magic should lead; it’s only natural; we are far superior then any animal. I also want my rightful place as ruler of the Fae. I was born to be King. I can hear Willow beginning to stir inside the cabin, and I know I need to return to her. I still need to act the part of a doting lover.

I walk back into the cabin as Willow stretches and yawns. She gives me a smile as she sees me walk in.

“There you are. I was wondering where you could have gone.” She says, still sounding tired, but the smile she is giving me makes me think she is far from tired.

“I didn’t go far, Princess. How could I with you hear looking so beautiful? I thought you must be hungry, though.” I sit on the edge of the bed and push some of the hair from her face. I was so relieved when I first saw her. I thought that the rumors of her beauty were just rumors, but to my delight, she is beautiful.

“Hmm, I am hungry.” She coos sitting up and wrapping her arms around my neck and pressing her warm skin to mine. I’m starting to think being married to her will be more and more fun. She kisses me, and it isn’t long before she is pulling me back to bed with her.

Soon we are wrapped in each other’s arms. All I can think was how easy this has all been. Once the last loose ends are taken care of, everything will be perfect, and she can be my Queen. I’m starting to think she might just be my match after all. So long as she plays her part.

Her kissing has become more and more passionate, and the few light moans she’s starting to make are thrilling. Her hands are on the waist of my pants, and she’s pushing them down. All thoughts of finding my sister are quickly gone. Claiming my prize, again and again, are the only thing I’m thinking of now.

I break our passionate kiss, and she’s panting already as I slide my pants down. I’m already hard, and Willow is licking her lips, more than ready for me already.

“That’s my good girl.” I praise her, stroking her hair. She takes me in her mouth, and damn I could get used to this. I hiss and moan in pleasure as her tongue swirls around me, making everything twitch and pulse.

“What a good girl you are.” I hiss as she continues to suck and bob her head and mouth down my length. I wrap my hands in her hair and pull. She is mine and will be mine forever; this is all the proof that I need.
