Bound by the CEO’s Baby By Sun Scar Chapter 98
Chapter 98
Ana sighed. “Do you plan on looking for a reaction every time we argue? Or there is a miscommunication?”
“No, I don’t. I wasn’t thinking about the repercussions. I think I got too comfortable with the idea that you would be with me. no matter what.”
“Mhm.” She ran her hand through her hair. “Damien, you have a child. You can’t act like that. Your problems aren’t going to be solved by playing games. not in your private life.”
“I promise I was not playing games consciously. It was a spur of the moment.”
“I trust you, Damien. But I don’t trust the man you were when we were in disagreement. You got carried away by my absence and brought Carmen into our lives. I don’t know how much of this mess she is involved in, but I know she is a sociopath and she will do her best to make my life a living hell. And I can’t handle the volatile man on top of that. I don’t
want to.”
Damien swallowed thickly. He didn’t trust that side of him either. But he wasn’t like that. He would try harder not to be that man when things got tough.
They sat in silence, him on his knees, his head resting on her thigh. She trailed her fingers through his hair, scratching his scalp.
Finally, Damien looked up at her.
“I turn into an asshole teenager when I am around you. I can’t tell you that I will be perfect from now on, but I can tell you that Alan and you are my top priority. I know that you know that, but I will repeat it a million times a day if I have to. I won’t do anything to jeopardize that again”
Ana’s face softened and she cracked a small smile and crooked her finger. Damien lifted off the ground and pressed his lips against hers
“Don’t,” she warned. Her tone was playful, but Damien knew she was serious.
He crawled beside her, enjoying her scent as he lavished her with gentle kisses. They undressed each other slowly… with purpose. But their intent was not to make love. They simply wanted to be close to reconnect the easiest way they knew. He held her as tightly as he could and she would allow it. That night. That was where he was meant to be. Regardless of where their work took them, as long as Ana was in his arms every night, Damien was where he belonged.
Damien and Ana woke up the next morning to Alan climbing into bed with them. Luckily, he didn’t try to wriggle under the covers. He simply snuggled up between them and went back to sleep. That allowed both parents to put on some clothes. They dozed off and only woke up an hour later. He walked to the kitchen and started a pot of coffee. Ana followed a few minutes later, kissing her back as her nails raked across his chest. He shivered and captured her lips.
“I feel better with you guys here,” he said quietly.
“I feel better here, too,” she sighed and rubbed her eyes.
“Did you have time to go through the house?”
Ana shook her head. “I didn’t have time to clean it up, but I did a quick check.”
“And?”
“I don’t know exactly what is missing. It doesn’t look like anything was taken from our room. Alan has too many clothes and toys for me to pinpoint if anything was taken. Everything just looked… thrown around, broken, and ripped.”
“Do you really think Carmen was the one who did it?”
Ana nodded. “I can’t imagine anyone else would do something like this. If it was a random burglary they would take valuable stuff. Everyone knows you have enough of that laying around. Why would they ignore those and just mess our house up
Damien hummed in agreement. It couldn’t be random. “Did you tell the lawyer about your suspicions?”
Ana nodded. “And your father too. I had to give your father the pictures and he made me some copies.”
He furrowed his brows in confusion. “Why?”
“I didn’t know if you wanted to see them or not.”
“And did Dad see them?”
Ana nodded sadly
“Did you look at them?”
Chapter 98
Ana shook her head. “No. I didn’t want to see them. Your dad thought I was right in that decision.”
Damien pinched the bridge of his nose. “I can’t believe she took photographs,” he growled.
They turned their heads when they heard the shuffling of little feet. At the same time, the coffee machine pinged, telling them their morning beverage was ready. They spent the morning doing a mini–tour of the company branch. For lunch, they met up with a bunch of senior executives who were close to Damien. They had been there for every step of his struggle in the last four years.
The thing about Ana was, she mingled with people easily. She spoke confidently to the executives, acting like a good associate and Damien’s girlfriend.
The executives were all over Alan. They looked scared when they saw Alan. None of them knew he had a son, which was a good thing, considering Damien didn’t know until recently either. When Ana got up to take Alan to the bathroom, the executives leaned forward.
“Miss Reid is a catch. Why did you waste your time being away for her?” one of the executives asked.
“Really, she is perfect for you, Boss,” a female executive added. “I have worked for you for a long time and I have never seen someone keep you in line.”
Damien rolled his eyes. “It’s easier to talk when you are not in my position. We are perfect for each other, but not always.” He cleared his throat.
“I think you should marry her, bring her to this branch, and have more beautiful babies for me to play with during work.
breaks.”
Damien snorted. “Have your own babies. And don’t slack off during work because of your daydreaming.”
“Well… someday.”
“In any case, I will hand over the business in the other branches, so we will not be moving.”
