Chapter 94
Chapter 94
“What?” Damien asked.
“You and the lawyer?”
“Nothing. I asked him to check out a few things for me.”
“About the car? What is he going to be able to see that the cops didn’t?” Ana glanced at him, but because he was facing away from her, she couldn’t see his expression.
“Don’t worry about it, Ana. It’s not a big deal.”
“What are you not telling me?”
Damien finally turned and grabbed her hand. He kissed her knuckles gently. “If and when this issue becomes important, I will tell you. I don’t want you to worry about anything right now, okay? Why bother if there is nothing to worry about?”
Ana huffed but agreed. “Do you know what Wynne wants to get Alan?”
“Why would I know that?”
Ana pursed her lip. “She won’t tell me what it is. She told me she had a present for Alan but then nothing. I thought James would mention something to you.”
“No.” Damien said immediately. “He has been awfully silent for a few days.”
That was weird.
Damien wanted to buy a car. An expensive car that had been shipped in from an out–of–state dealer and would be delivered right after Damien came back from his bids. He wanted to celebrate his wins, it seemed.
“What made you think that this car is safer than your last one?” she asked as Damien signed the paperwork.
“Mrs. Wright, this car has been named the safest car of the year. It has gone through intense testing, I assure you,” the salesman said quickly.
Damien coughed, trying to hide his laughter. “Yes, Mrs. Wright, it has undergone intense testing,” he said.
Ana chose to ignore the thumping of her heart at being called ‘Mrs. Wright‘ and tried to focus on what she was really trying
to say.
“I was talking about how your last car was completely destroyed and could have killed you.”
“It has the top of the line security system. It-
“That’s alright.” Damien said, holding up a hand. “I can handle Mrs. Wright from here. Can you give us a moment?”
The salesman stood up and closed the door behind him. Damien took the opportunity to yank Ana into her lap.
“Do you think he would be awfully mad if I decided to bend you over his desk and take you?” he asked, attacking her mouth.
“I don’t know,” she said, trying to keep up with him. “Seeing that he will get a hefty bonus from selling a car to you, he might also allow you to bend him over the desk,” she prompted. “But, Mr. Wright, I mind since the blinds are wide open and I don’t need all those men outside to stare at my body. What was gotten into you?”
Damien stopped kissing her and rested his forehead against hers. “It’s nothing… I just feel good that you care about the safety of my car.”
Ana stared at him skeptically. “Sure_.”
She slipped off his lap and settled into her own seat just as the salesman knocked tentatively on the door.
“Everything okay in here?” he asked, looking embarrassed. He must have overheard their conversation… or realized what they had been up to..
Ana looked over at Damien just as he hummed. “It’s time to head out.”
Ana opened the front door and found Wynne dressed… differently. She was wearing a tight little dress and the smile held
secrets. James was right behind her, dressed in matching clothing James… was not the kind of man who allowed his wife to pressure him into wearing matching clothing. Especially the color Wynne was wearing.
“Oh. I know what the gift is,” Ana said, shaking her head.
“What? How?” Wynne asked.
Alan Ana shouted.

Within seconds, her son ran into the living room where everyone was waiting. Damien walked in after him and looked at the couple with a perplexed expression.
“You brought cake?” Damien asked, confusion marring his expression.
“Yeah, it’s a gift,” James grinned. He placed the cake down and then settled on the couch. Alan sat down next to him, cozying up because he knew neither Ana nor Damien would allow him to have too much cake. Especially not before dinner.
“Is it for me?” Alan asked innocently.
“Of course, it is, little man,” James said, ruffling his hair. “Can I tell you a secret?”
Alan nodded.
“You’re going to have a little brother to play with soon.”
Ana bit her lip as Damien gasped. She looked at Wynne and smiled.
“Are you serious? You’re pregnant?” Damien asked.
Wynne nodded enthusiastically while Alan looked utterly confused.
“Aunt Wynne is going to have a baby,” Ana tried to explain to him.
Damien hugged James tightly. Ana saw James whisper something in Damien’s ear but she didn’t know what it was. But Damien did smile and nod in response.
“How far along are you? When are you due?” Ana asked.
“I am twelve weeks.”
“I need to work on getting you a bonus and paid time off then!” Damien exclaimed. “I feel like I stressed you out all these years and stopped you from being a mother. Now that you are giving Ana and me a niece or nephew, I should treat you
better.”
Again, Ana was hit by the easiness with which Damien spoke of their relationship. Wynne noticed and gave her a wink.
“Who else knows?” Ana asked.
“Our parents. And Dianne. She saw me a few weeks ago and just knew. I have no idea how! Even I had known for a day or two by then.”
Alan had tuned out of the conversation because he didn’t understand a word that was being said. He hung onto Damien’s hand, trying to swing himself. Damien, on the other hand, was so busy chatting with James that he didn’t notice it.
“Are you okay with this?” Wynne asked, softly placing her hand on Ana’s shoulder.
Ana furrowed her brow in confusion. “Of course, why wouldn’t I be?”
“I just…” Wynne trailed off.
Ana finally understood. “Hey, I’m so happy for you, Wynne. I am perfectly alr
