Bound by the CEO’s Baby By Sun Scar Chapter 78
Chapter 78
“If I can’t cheer you up by telling you the miseries of others, then I will just have to kiss the unhappiness out of you.”
Ana snorted but didn’t protest when he leaned down to kiss her.
“You taste like red sauce.”
Ana hit her chest. “If you’re so concerned about my breath, you should refrain from kissing me after I eat.”
“I’m not concerned about your bad breath, baby. I love how you taste… at any time.” Damien grinned, making her ears turn red from embarrassment. At least, she was fully smiling.
Damien glanced over the roof of the car for a split second and then did a double–take. His eyes narrowed at the girl staring at him from across the parking lot. She looked familiar… way too familiar.
The woman was approaching them with a smirk on her face. Damien was searching for how he knew this woman when it suddenly clicked in his head. He had no way to escape. He had no doubt this was Carmen and she was the one giving Ana a hard time.
“Hey, where are you?” Ana asked, pulling her face down to meet hers.
He allowed Damien to kiss him, but his eyes were still scanning their surroundings. He heard a throat clear behind him and Ana huffed and pulled back to peer from under his arm.
“What the hell do you want?” Ana scowled. Damien hadn’t turned around. He felt like a deer caught in the headlights.
“I just came to say hello to Damien. I didn’t realize he had company,” Carmen said in a saccharine tone. Damien looked down at Ana and saw the confusion in her eyes. “You left so early that day, I didn’t even get a chance to thank you properly.”
Damien was still pressed up against Ana and he felt her body tense up. Damien closed his eyes, willing it all to be a nightmare, but he felt her starting to shake and knew he had to help her..
“Damien… please tell me…” she begged.
Damien couldn’t speak. Because if he did, he would have to admit that he had slept with other women after her. That was exactly what she feared. Ana slipped out from under him and took a few steps away.
“Yes, he did. When I asked you if your man had gotten tired of you and gone elsewhere, I was just trying to get a rise out of you. I had no idea that I was right. Seriously, if you want Liam so bad, I am sure we can work out something.”
Damien was utterly confused. “What the fuck are you talking about?” he asked angrily.
“She didn’t tell you? I caught her trying to seduce my boyfriend the other day.”
Damien looked over at Ana, a little shocked. Damien almost forgot that he was the one in hot water.
“Shut up, Carmen,” Ana yelled. “I was doing nothing of the sort.”
“Please… you practically shoved your tits in his face.”
“Excuse me, I caught him staring down my shirt and I got on his case about it.”
“He was doing what?” Damien barked.
Ana unleashed a glare that made Damien take a step back. He was in a lot of trouble.
“I should go back in. I really don’t want to be late,” Carmen sneered. “It was so good to see you again, Damien. If you ever want to play again, just take my number from Anastasia.”
“I never touched you,” he retorted.
“Sure, you should tell her that. Maybe she will believe it.” Carmen turned and sauntered into the building, swaying her hips like she had won something. When Damien turned to Ana, her head was hanging, her eyes on the ground.
“Why didn’t you tell me about Liam?”
Chapter 78
“What?” her voice was raised, but like an idiot, he didn’t heed the warning.
“If he was harassing you, why didn’t you tell me? What else has been going on that you haven’t told me?”
Are you kidding? You are trying to turn this on me?”
Damien grabbed her shoulder, trying to pull her to him. He wanted to calm her down, and he needed to know they were okay. Damien needed her to tell him that she loved him.
“Get off me,” Ana snapped.
“Ana, I…”
“Damien, I need you to let go. Right. Now.”
Damien did as he asked, slowly letting her hand trail down her arm.
“When?” she asked.
It was while she was not even in the city and he had no idea about Alan, but she would still be angry. He opened his mouth to try and answer her but just shook his head. Damien saw her eyes glossing over with unshed tears. “A few years ago.”
She blinked slowly and a tear trickled from the corner of her eye and down her cheek. She turned her head away from her and wiped the tear away with her thumb.
“Ana, I am so sorry. I don’t know what happened.”
“She said the other morning? What did she mean by that?”
“She’s lying, Ana. The only time I saw her was three years ago when I left the city.”
“After I left?” she asked,
Damien nodded. “I don’t remember anything, Ana. I was upset and losing my mind over you… I drank myself into oblivion, I think. I didn’t even remember her name until I just put two and two together right now.”
Ana looked worried. “Were you safe?”
Damien swallowed thickly. “I didn’t touch her… I don’t think so…”
Her eye widened in horror. “You don’t ‘think‘ so?”
“I don’t know. She insisted that we slept together but wouldn’t I know if I slept with someone? It’s just a black hole… that
night.”
Ana’s eyes swam with tears.
“Ana, please,” Damien pleaded, almost on the verge of tears himself. “We have come so far. I know I was stupid, but I swear I am not an irresponsible man. I can’t love you over something like this. I know I fucked up, but really I don’t know… I don’t know what happened,”
Ana laughed but there was no humor behind it. “You don’t know? How couldn’t you know? Actually, don’t answer that.”
A look Damien didn’t understand flashed across Ana’s face. “I have to go back to work and so do you,” she sighed. “We can talk about this Jater.”
Damien reached out for her but she shook her head. “Not right now, Damien, please? I will see you in a few hours.”
“I love you,” he whispered.
“love you, too,” Ana said, walking away from him. She looked defeated and pained. Damien promised himself that he wouldn’t allow it to ruin them.
