Bound by the CEO’s Baby By Sun Scar Chapter 32
Chapter 32
Anastasia’s phone chimed with a text the next morning. She picked up the phone and found Damien’s text.
[Do you think we could do something this weekend? With Alan?]
Ana stared at the text for a long time before she believed she wasn’t hallucinating
You want to spend time with Alan?>
[Yes]
By yourself?> she asked. She wouldn’t let that happen. She didn’t trust Damien to take Alan anywhere by himself. She didn’t even trust him to be alone with Alan in the confines of her own house
[No. I would like you to be there to help me.]
Anastasia laughed out loud. Damien had tried his best not to sound nervous, but he had failed.
[Moreover, I prefer not being observed by people I know.]
Ana knew how he felt. But she didn’t want to have a conversation over text. She dialed his number.
“What are you thinking?” she asked without a greeting.
“I just thought spending time with Alan would be good.”
Ana paused. Damien thought she would say no. “No. I was asking what you have in mind. Is there anything you want to do?”
“Uh. I am not sure. I saw online that kids love going to those game parks.”
Ana couldn’t help but smile. Damien had tried. “Are you free today?”
“Yes.”
“I will pick you up in an hour.” Ana didn’t give him a chance to say anything else.
In a couple of hours, Damien stood in front of the door, staring. Alan bounced around like he was flying. As Ana signed him in and got a card, Alan ditched his shoes and took off running.
“Wow,” Damien gaped.
“Like what you see?” Ana asked as she grabbed Damien’s bicep. They froze. “Sorry.”
“It’s okay,” Damien cleared his throat.
He motioned for Ana to walk in front and she led him to the seating area. They sat down on a bench. Damien rubbed his fingers over the spot Ana had grabbed him. Ana couldn’t help but stare. The muscles of his arm were perfect. He had obviously been working out in the past few years. She continued to stare, hoping she could magically see through his shirt if she tried hard enough.
The thought made her flush and she turned back to watching Alan Damien’s voice pulled her out of her thoughts.
“This is something else,” he whispered, his eyes darting around the colorful pipes and ball pits.
“You picked the right place. Alan has an unlimited amount of energy. These playpens have saved me loads of nights of sleep.”
They watched as Alan Launched himself down a slide. A few kids joined him and before they knew it, joyful squealing
surrounded them.

“It’s easy for them to make friends at this age, Anastasia whispered. “None of them look for benefits from friendships. Just plain old enjoyment.”
Damien looked at her, scanning her face for something.
“What?” Ana asked.
Damien furrowed his brow before looking away. “Nothing.”
They continued to watch in silence but Damien was almost vibrating. He really wanted to ask something but Ana wasn’t going to coax him like a child. If he had something to say, he could spit it out on his own.
Finally. Damien cleared his throat. Ana pretended to scratch her chin to hide her smile. She had a lot of fun watching him squirm. Finally, Damien knew she wasn’t going to give him. Here, she was not her superior.
“Has he always been this energetic?”
Anastasia nodded. “From the day he was born. He was constantly squirming and making trouble. He slept well, but when he was awake… he really made it known.”
“Is this normal?”
Ana jerked around and narrowed her eyes.
“No! I mean he just seems like a good boy. Normally, I see kids just whining and throwing tantrums. They scare me a little.”
Anastasia scoffed. “Don’t let his handsome face fool you, Damien. He can be a demon when he wants to. He went through a biting and pushing phase recently. Sometimes, he does multiple things at once. I have loads of bald spots to prove it.”
Damien gulped.
“Kids learn all kinds of shit in daycare and there is nothing we can do. He also learned quickly that I don’t condone bad behavior. At his age, he doesn’t know what is right and wrong, so he needs some consequences to understand.”
“And what were the consequences?” Damien looked bothered by it.
“I don’t spank or hit. I don’t see the point in it. I know parents who it works for, but I prefer gentle parenting. When Alan was really little, I tried scolding him but he would just cry and go back to doing it. Now, he gets time out. He hates it.”
“And that works?” he questioned, looking like he didn’t believe it.
“Sometimes. When he throws tantrums, I need to sit and hold him tightly until he calms down. We talk it out after that.”
“How do you talk it out with a three–year–old?” Damien asked.
“Kids are a lot more intelligent than you think. If you treat them like a person and explain situations in terms they understand, it works. I repeat myself a lot but I am consistent.”
Damien nodded. “How did you figure it out?”
“Trial and error. Watching a lot of youtube.”
Damien turned his head away from Alan to look at her. “On Youtube?”
Ana giggled and nodded. “It has some good tips on there.”
“Huh..” Damien turned his attention back to the children who were now diving into the ball pits. “When did he start showing interest in the piano?”
“When he first saw the piano…”

“Maybe we should get him lessons then.”
Ana coughed a little but said nothing. It seemed Damien was warming up to the idea of Alan being his kid.
Damien’s knee bounced and he wrung his hand in his lap. “Has he always looked like me?”
“No. When he was tiny, no one could tell. But as he grew up… yeah.. He became the spitting image of you. It was frustrating to see the child I gave birth to look like someone else,” Ana commented.
“It must have been weird,” he murmured.
“It was more panic–inducing,” she admitted. “I knew I couldn’t hide him forever. Not from people who knew you personally. Even my parents saw it immediately.”
Seconds later, Alan came flying out of nowhere and into Damien’s lap. Damien was startled but instinctively placed his arms around Alan.
“Come oooooooon, Damien,” Alan whined, grabbing his hands and tugging on his fingers. Damien looked over for help but Ana simply shrugged. It was his own problem.
“Aren’t I too big?” he asked conspiratorially.
“No, it can hold you. Just don’t bounce as hard as you can. I know you are tempted.” She stopped. “And take your shoes off!”
Alan still tugged on Damien’s fingers. Finally, he gave in, standing up and slipping his shoes off.
