Bound by the CEO’s Baby By Sun Scar Chapter 25

Chapter 25

Wynne strode over to his side and snatched the open letter, a wicked smile spreading from ear to ear before she read the result herself. “Told you,” she gloated. “Ninety–nine point nine percent accuracy.”

Damien looked at his assistant, his eyes a little watery, but he couldn’t utter a word.

“Do you have all the proof you need now?” Wynne asked. “At least look at the result and accept it.”

he

Damien gripped his hand in frustration. He needed to get out. He had asked for a paternity test and now he couldn’t say was lying. And Ana knew that he knew because she must have gotten the notice too. Would Anastasia call him up and gloat to him? She said she didn’t want his money but would she change her mind now that she had hard evidence? Damien wasn’t sure. The fact was, he had worked with her for a long time but in reality, he knew nothing about who she was. At least not then. He had a son with Anastasia whom he barely knew

He walked out of his office, leaving Wynne behind. He needed to leave the house, but the last time he had run away, he had made another big mistake that put a nail in his coffin. He

Couldn’t hurt himself again.

Damien flopped down on his bed and buried his head in his bed. He wished he was angry, but the fact was, he had spent the majority of the last two weeks being angry and he just couldn’t feel it anymore. Now, he was terrified.

He heard a knock on his front door but didn’t respond to it. He didn’t need anyone telling him that he was garbage of a human being. He already knew that. Still, he trudged to the door and opened it.

“I already called in sick for the rest of the day,” Damien grumbled.

“What’s wrong, son?” his father spoke softly. The voice was non–accusatory. However, Damien did

“Damien.”

process this.

“What am I going to do?” he cried out, feeling like a little boy again, crying to his father when he couldn’t solve a hard problem for homework.

Damien felt his father’s hand on his shoulder. The firm grip made him slump. “Damien, how will I solve the problem if you

don’t tell me?” he asked.

The older man looked kind and peppered with wisdom. When Damien blurted out everything that had happened, at cautious look flashed across his face. “It seems I was wrong. I don’t know the solution to your problem. It is up to you what you do. So, what do you want to do?”

Damien faced his father. “I want to go back to not knowing.”

His father sighed. “That is not an option. You have a child, now.”

“I just don’t know what I am supposed to do. I have a child. I have a three–year–old son that I didn’t even know existed until a few weeks ago. I don’t know how to be a dad.”

He still had a long

way to go to fulfill his dreams and the idea of being a father scared him to idiocy.

“I didn’t know how to be a dad when I first met your mom, either.”

“What Damien whispered.

“Your mother was raising you when I fell in love with her. I was a young man… Don’t you think I was scared when I pursued your mother?” he questioned.

“That’s not the same. I am nothing like you.”

“Of course, the situation is not the same. But look at it from another perspective. When I met you and your mom, I didn’t know a thing about either of you. I didn’t know when you were born or how much you weighed. I didn’t know what your first words were. But I learned. I put in a lot of effort and patience for you to stop looking at me like I was a demon and

accept me as a father. I thought for sure I was going to screw up with you, but your mom supported me and supported my relationship with you.”

Damien laughed sarcastically. “Anastasia has made it perfectly clear that she is disgusted by the very idea about at relationship between me and our.., our-”

Damien don’t know why it was so hard to say his name. He had called the kid by his given name before, but then he was just Ana’s child. Now, it was his kid, too.

“With Alan?”

“How did you know his name?” Damien asked.

His father shrugged. “I am still well–connected within the company. Now answer me.”

“Anastasia wants me to give up my rights to him.”

“What?” his father sounded confused. “Why would she say that?”

“I don’t know. She asked me to sign away my rights. I don’t know, Dad, maybe I should. Maybe it is better for us if I protect myself and sign the papers immediately.”

His father stopped him right there. “First of all, Damien, you are not signing any papers. I don’t think it helps if you sign it anyway. You can’t protect yourself from a child you fathered. I haven’t seen this grandchild of mine, but there is no way anyone will keep him away from me. But I also know Anastasia and she is a loyal and sweet girl N

matter what you decide,

I do want a relationship with this child.” He stopped. “I think you misheard her.”

Damien shook his head. “I know what I heard. She said she doesn’t want me in his life.”

His father sighed. “I think you miscomprehended what she said. She is protecting her child and making sure she lives a full life with him. She is right. You have a different kind of lifestyle that doesn’t accommodate a family. Moreover, you never wanted a family of your own.”

“Protecting Alan?” Damien finally said his son’s name. “She kept him a secret for years! You call that protecting? You think so highly of someone who was done nothing but deceive me?”

Damien was frustrated. His chest hurt. Being a father was not something he had considered other than being horrified that he would be a horrible parent and screw up the kid.

“You need to talk to Miss Reid, son.”

“I have already talked to her.”

“From how you are reacting to her very name, you probably accused her and then walked away. You haven’t actually spoken. to her. Or Alan….

your son.”

His father had made a good point. As always.

“You can get to know Alan before you decide something. Maybe he is just as amazing as the young boy I met on his mother’s side… I fell in love with that kid and wanted to be his dad.”

“Really?” Damien asked before he could catch himself. With just that little insinuation, he was curious. He was curious about

Alan.

“Yes, Damien,” he answered as he stood up. “Call Miss Reid.”

His father was already at the door when he turned around. “I want you to think about this deeply before you decide whether or not you want to be a part of Alan’s life, son. It may not be part of your well–made plan, but would you be able to live with yourself knowing you gave up on an innocent kid who has never met his father?”
