Bound by the CEO’s Baby By Sun Scar Chapter 23
Chapter 23
“I just needed to take care of an emergency. You could have confronted me and we wouldn’t be here!” His voice was a tad bit higher than usual, and he was struggling not to raise his voice.
“All you had to do was look at me after, Damien. I am sure it was written all over my face. Being shunned like that made me feel like I meant nothing in the grand scheme of things… I couldn’t speak to anyone or breathe in your general direction without people speaking ill of me. You didn’t have the decency to look at me. In all honesty, I don’t even believe it would have made a difference. If you wanted to care for me, nothing would have stopped you.”
Damien winced slightly and turned away. “I cared. I would have stood up for you,” he whispered so quietly that Ana almost didn’t hear him.
“I have since met men. I know the difference between someone who cares and someone who just wanted to hurt you. I was scared of you and your reaction. When I found out I was pregnant I was petrified that you would accuse me of trapping you.”
Damien squeezed his eyes shut. Ana couldn’t tell what he was thinking as a plethora of emotions flashed across his face simultaneously. “I didn’t want it to end this way. Hurting you was the last thing I wanted. I was upset and I didn’t know how to handle the situation. I have already told you this countless times. There will never be a good excuse for what I put you through, but that was no reason to completely leave me out of my son’s life.” His voice was soft, nothing like the ruthless billionaire which he usually played.
“I thought I was doing what was best. What would you have done if I told you?” she questioned.
“I don’t know.” He shrugged and met her gaze. His eyes hore into hers. It was too painful so Ana looked away.
“I know. You would have come back. You would have tried to convince me to take care of it. You would have resented me and Alan for taking away your freedom just like you do now. If I remember correctly, you had a fiance at the time, who you didn’t like… but you were bound to her. You were hers. Damien, not mine.”
Something flashed in Damien’s eyes, but it was gone immediately. “I wanted nothing to do with her. I never wanted to marry her.”
“But that was none of my concern. I didn’t know what your relationship was. I heard at one point that you were going to get married and I wasn’t about to get in your life and ruin your chance at happiness,”
“That is a poor excuse, Ana. You can justify it all you want but it doesn’t change that you were wrong”
Ana nodded. “I will not make excuses for what I did. I am simply explaining where I came from. For the people in the back, please tell me what you have done since you discovered I had a child. Was I so wrong to hide it from you when all you did was scream and insult me? You can’t imagine what it was like to find out I was pregnant with your child or to hear the accusation that I was a homewrecker and I was using my body to climb the corporate ladder. You stand there and judge me without knowing what it is like to be pregnant and single.”
Damien glared at her. “I ask for a DNA test,” he blurted out. Ana knew he had said it in a moment of anger. But her jaw clenched and she clenched her teeth until her teeth ached. Obviously, he hadn’t taken a good look at Alan.
“Really?”
“And if he is not mine…”
“He is yours,” Ana interrupted.
“Ana…”
“I am not going to stand around and let you question this. Alan is your son. I had sex one time and it was with you. Not to mention he is the spitting image of you. All you have to do is look at him. Sure, you want a paternity test? I will give it to you. But don’t come crying when you get bound to that child…”
She took a deep breath before continuing.

“I am not happy about the situation either. I have been fine without you for several years. But the fact is, you share genes. with him and you deserved to know.”
“I should have known when you were pregnant.”
“Absolutely, but I can’t turn the clock back. I did what I thought was best at the time.” Ana wrapped her hand around her stomach. “I want to give you the opportunity to be part of his life, but if you decide that you don’t want any of it, then I will ask you for legal termination of your parental rights to him.“.
“Excuse me?” Damien snapped.
“It means that you give him up permanently. I can’t have you jump in and out of Alan’s life. And I don’t want you to think he might want some part of your legacy. I don’t want him to feel inferior to any other children you choose to have in your future with your wife or girlfriend.”
Ana knew she was being too hard, but she had no other choice. If he gave up his rights now, there would be no issue in the
future.
“What is wrong with you?” Damien’s voice cracked.
“I am doing what I need to do. I have already decided that I won’t take Alan away, and I won’t but if you decide you don’t want him, you have to give up any right to fight for him in the future. You will never see us ever again and Alan will never know that you are his father”
Ana gulped before speaking again. “You accused me of being after your money. But I don’t want a single dime from you.”
