Bound by the CEO’s Baby By Sun Scar Chapter 21
Chapter 21
James sighed. “With all due respect, Mr. Wright, do you hear yourself? You were an active part of making that baby. The two of you were consenting adults and neither wanted a child. Do you think Anastasia, a girl who was just getting ahead in her career was ready to have a child? That, too, raise it alone? You’re a lot older than her. You have had years of being in business. and
you have lived a free life while Anastasia has been ostracized and ignored because she was a mother. She needs to work extra hard to prove herself and at the same time bring up her daughter. Instead of having a social life and moving on by dating, she had a screaming baby at home to take care of every day of the week.”
“No matter what, she has flourished in her career, and brought up her son as a perfectly healthy and happy baby,” James finished.
“She didn’t need to go through it,” Damien grumbled. The moment the words left his mouth, Damien felt like hitting himself. He really hadn’t meant it in a bad way. James shook his head.
“If you weren’t in shock, I would have smacked you and forgotten my place. Everyone is trying to be understanding about the position you are in because we know you are not a bad person. At the end of the day, he is your son and you need to suck
it
up
and find a way to come to terms with it. And if you can’t, let Anastasia know early on.”
James politely took his leave, leaving Damien to face the colossal trainwreck alone.
Damien left. He just left. Anastasia was sitting in the backyard and Damien had just left. She wasn’t sure what she had expected, but him having a fit and leaving wasn’t it. Anastasia knew he wouldn’t take it well, but the fact he completely denied it and then threw her for a round… How many days had she gazed at her son and stressed about how much he looked. like Damien? And Damien accused her of trying to get money from him.
“Are you okay?” Ana’s dad asked.
“I am fine.” Honestly, she wasn’t. Ana was close to losing her mind but she had her baby to get back to. She couldn’t afford to break down.
“Don’t worry about him right now. The hardest part is done. That man needs to get his head out of his ass and some time to process.”
Ana shook her head. “I don’t really care,” she stated, completely defeated. “Damien knows now… he can do whatever he wants to do with that information. I don’t need his involvement in my life anyway.” She pulled away from the comforting hand of her father and headed inside the house and up the stairs.
Alan Sr grabbed her hand. “What about Alan, Ana?”
Anastasia looked at him in confusion. “What about him?“.
“Don’t you think he deserves to have his father in his life?”
Ana shook her head. “Not if he doesn’t want to be there… no. Alan has done fine up until this point. He already has great role models and I am when I get married, he will have a more permanent father figure in his life. Damien doesn’t owe me anything. He can do whatever he needs to do. He can expand his business, get married and have kids, completely ignore
me… I don’t care.”
“And that’s it? You are going to run away like you did before?”
“What?” Ana didn’t understand what her father was saying.
“You have friends here, friends who have become part of Alan’s life. You have us. And while Damien might not be involved. he does have a family who took care of you when you worked for Wright Group. Do you not think they deserve to know?”
Alan asked.
“Dad, I am not going to run away or shy from the truth anymore.”
Chapter 21
Alan Sr let out a sigh of relief.
“All I am saying is I have done my duty to Damien. I have told him and he can make his choice. He can tell his parents if he so wishes and it doesn’t affect me or Alan. Lots of children grow up without their biological father.”
Alan knew where she was coming from. He allowed her to go up the stairs. As she trudged up and saw her baby boy in her mother’s arms, a painful thought assaulted her. Ana squeezed her eyes shut and frowned.
“Mom, please tell me he did not hear any of that,” she whispered.
Ana’s mom shook her head. Her gaze was sympathetic as she looked back down at the baby. “Good thing the playroom is soundproof. Neither of us heard anything”
Tears pricked Ana’s eyes as she realized what would have happened if Damien hadn’t left the room fast enough. “I wasn’t thinking. I should have planned it better… Did he ask anything?”
“Ana, no. He didn’t even notice. I distracted him with the game quickly.”
“I am a terrible mother,” Ana whispered.
”
Her mother smiled softly. “No. you are not. I also thought it would be easier if he saw Alan. But it didn’t go well?”
Ana laughed bitterly. “That would be an understatement. He won’t accept this.”
Ana bent down to lift Alan into her arms. “I feel like he will come around, Ana. You thought him a good man, remember?”
Ana looked into her mother’s eyes and she couldn’t retort. Was Damien a good man? She didn’t really know him. One minute he was sweet and gentle, begging for forgiveness, and the next, he was furious like she had never seen before. Ana didn’t ignore the look of hurt either. And she was the cause of all of it.
As she slept that night, thoughts of Damien noticing her again invaded her head. She thought about the day Alan was born… her perfect little baby. And then Damien… she had thought about him a lot in the last few years. But now he knew the secret and hated her.
