Chapter 6
LORYS
I had finished work earlier than planned and made my way to my room to change for practice.
As I entered my floor, the smell of peaches hit me and I frowned.
I knew I sometimes overthought things, but this was definitely a trick my brain was playing on me.
I pinched my arm to make sure it was real. My senses were right and I realized that my wolf had listened too, because he was sniffing too.
I ran into my room and looked all around, but there was no one to be seen.
I saw a bunch of roses on the table and noticed that my room was spotlessly clean. It smelled of fresh roses, the bed linen also smelled of flowers and then there were the peaches. Damn, where are the peaches that smell like that? It couldn't be, could it?
I looked around and discovered the diary on the bedside table, it was still there.
I tried to make a connection in my head with Linda, the head maid.
"Linda, who was in my room?"
"Everything all right Alpha? It was just the two new maids cleaning. Is something wrong?" she asked me.
"No, everything's fine... I was just wondering about the flowers, I'm not used to flowers," I replied, looking around in confusion.
"Should we take them away?" she asked me.
They were actually beautiful, but I wasn't used to people putting flowers in my room.
"No, it's fine," I ended the conversation and paused.
Peaches... Peaches.
Damn.
I ran to my diary and opened the last chapter I'd read.
He placed several kisses on my breasts, which made me extremely uncomfortable.
"Mhmm you smell so damn good Bora.... Like a ripe peach... So sweet, so delicious," he moaned as he took my nipples in his mouth and sucked on them.
I felt dirty and disgusted by him. I couldn't do anything about him and had to let it all wash over me.
Damn. Was I hallucinating?
That smell was driving me crazy and so was that text. How could it be that a diary could upset me so much? Just reading it made me angry, and the fact that Gabriel mentioned peaches so explicitly...
New maids...
Was she alive after all? Was she one of the new maids? Why would she be a maid? Assuming she had survived, would she come up and say she was from the Brightstone?
I tried to put one and one together, but I couldn't.
I rubbed my temples, sat down on the armchair and looked at the roses.
Damn, why doesn't any of this make sense? It was like someone was waving peaches under my nose and leading me astray.
The diary didn't make it any better because it confirmed things for me and at the same time the rug was pulled out from under me when Leonardo confirmed that no one else from the injured had survived.
I had to get to the bottom of it myself. Tomorrow I will intercept the maid myself and get a picture, or rather smell it. If the suspicion was confirmed, I would have another problem. After all, she had to go back to her pack.
I put the journal in a drawer and ran to my dressing room.
I put on my battle armor and picked up my helmet. Finally, I ran out of the room and joined the other men on the training ground.
It wasn't just paper that kept us on our toes. We always had to be strong and armed. Physical training was almost more important to me than politics.
Leonardo stood opposite me, he had also put on his armor. His brown hair hung in his face and his green eyes sparkled at me. "I'm sure I'm going to win today," he said, bringing a sword towards me.
I couldn't help but grin and shook my head, "Not today," I was too loaded to lose. The whole thing would end in Leonardo not being able to sit today.
"We'll see about that," he said challengingly and grinned at me as he put on his helmet and got into position.
I also put on my helmet and spread out.
Another wolf whistled and we lunged at each other with our swords.
BORA
Linda was so enthusiastic about the idea that she wanted to include me in the organization.
"The Alpha was very surprised at your kind gesture, almost shocked," she said with a smile, looking at me and Marga.
"His room is so beautifully decorated, and when we saw all the roses in front of the window, we thought they would fit in well with the ambience," Marga said, smiling.
Should I confide in Linda? Would she even listen to me? It backfired with the nurse and I felt patronized by her. At least she gave me the antidote to the wolfsbane, for which I was grateful. My she-wolf grew stronger day by day and regained her strength.
"You've done enough for today, we'll continue tomorrow, after all you need to recover a little," Linda decided and winked at us.
We gratefully accepted the suggestion, while Marga scrutinized me with her eyes.
I hooked myself into Marga's arm and we walked down the long corridor together.
"What are we going to do all day?" I asked her, to which she shrugged her shoulders "I definitely need to take a bath, I'm itching just thinking about it," she said with a grin, which made me laugh.
"Then do it before we have to deal with another lice infestation," I said with a grin. She nodded slightly "Shall we meet in the garden later?" she asked me.
"Yes, I'll wait for you," I replied, whereupon she disappeared towards the bedroom.
I let out a sigh of relief and didn't know what to do. I wandered through the corridors and eventually caught sight of James.
I gave him a smile and a wave, to which he gave me a confused look.
Like all the other men in the pack, James was a tall man. His brown hair was tied back and his beard was about two inches long, which made him look older than he probably was. He had light blue eyes and although he looked dangerous, he had to have a soft core, at least he was friendly.
"James? Can I ask you a question?" I walked straight up to him, to which he raised his eyebrows in surprise.
"What can I help you with?" he asked in surprise.
"I'd need a pen with ink and paper, preferably something bound, like a notebook or something," I said, looking at him.
His brow wrinkled even more. "What do you need that for?" he asked me.
"I love writing poetry, and now that I've lost my old book, I need a new one ... And since you're such a nice guy, I thought you could help me with that."
"Well, as long as it's just that," James smiled, looking at me askance. "Wait here for me," he said suddenly and ran off.
I wonder where he had run off to.
A few minutes passed before he came back to me.
"This is a fountain pen that my parents gave me... It means a lot to me. If you take care of it and promise to give it back to me, I'll be happy to lend it to you," James said, handing me a blank notebook.
I beamed and nodded: "You've made my day!" I could have hugged him with joy. He really did save my day, because I didn't know how else to spend my day.
He winked at me: "Have fun with it, you can read me one of your poems."
"By all means," I said with a smile and went into the rose garden.
I sat down on a bench and looked out over the training ground where two men were training and everyone else was watching them fight each other with their swords.
I looked at the notebook and picked up the quill.
Finally...
I was about to start writing when I heard a hard metallic thud and flinched. I looked at the men and saw the alpha's helmet being knocked off his head. His golden eyes glared dangerously at his opponent and an angry growl escaped him.
"I told you I'd win," his opponent said, moving into a defensive stance as if expecting a hard blow from the alpha.
The alpha attacked him, but his beta was quick and was able to dodge his attacks.
A strong wind blew and tore away some rose petals. The alpha froze in his position, his gaze falling on me, when suddenly his beta struck and pushed him back.
Reflexively, I lowered my head and hid behind the rose bushes with my notebook and pen. I almost felt guilty for distracting him, he probably wasn't used to seeing strangers in the rose garden.
Oops, quickly away!
I ran back and went straight to my room.
Marga was already back in her room and was just getting dressed.
Where did you get that from?" she asked me and put on her dress. Her eyes fell on the notebook. She tried to pull the strings together at the back, but it looked more like her arms were about to cramp with this stupid movement.
I stood behind her and pulled the cords tight. Her ample breasts emerged and her wet, curly hair slowly began to come back into shape. "Thank you," she said as I tied her dress shut.
"No problem," I replied, unable to stifle a giggle at the alpha's fall earlier.
"What are you laughing at?" asked Marga in amazement.
"Oh heavens... The Alpha and the Beta were training and suddenly the Alpha looked in my direction and the Beta's sword came flying towards him and he fell to the ground," I said, blushing involuntarily.
"Looks like the alpha saw something nice, and I'm not talking about the roses," Marga giggled and we both sat down on the bed.
"You don't have a mate, do you?", I asked her and she shook her head "No.... I haven't had any luck so far. Who knows, maybe I'll find my bestie," she winked and smiled broadly at me.
I laughed and nodded "Oh yes, that would be wonderful...".
I dreamed of one day finding my mate and leaving all the chaos behind me with him.
