Book 1 of Alpha Wolf: Mate Mine

Chapter 33 ~ The Ambush

“Nooo!! Stop it!” Elena cried loudly, tears dripping from her eyes. “Le-leave me!” She breathed out, in troubles. When it did not seem that he would stop anytime soon, Elena tried to fight back, but in vain. Too weak and still very sleepy, an ambush so early in the morning took her completely by surprise.

Elena couldn’t sleep a wink last night, far away from Mirko. At some point in the middle of the night, after tossing around endlessly, Elena had got out of bed and marched to the window, ready to jump down and go look for her mate in his territory. But well, he would surely be mad at her for sneaking into his pack without warning him... Not that sneaking into his territory going unnoticed would have been as easy as taking a stroll in the park.

His creepy warriors did not know that she was the fated mate of their Alpha, and they would have killed her instantly, without thinking twice.

Plus, she had absolutely no idea where Mirko’s room was located or, worse, if he even slept in his room…there were rumors that he preferred to spend his nights in a cave, in the darkest depths of Black Devil’s woods...sleeping in his wolf form…

Maybe one day she would ask him whether it was true or no.

Anyway, at the end she had decided to stay at home… resulting in a sleepless night and in a whiny zombie the next morning.

‘I wonder if he misses me as well’ she pouted, so adsorbed in her private thoughts that didn’t notice someone staring at her viciously… ready to ambush her.

Long story short, that morning she had been caught like an inexperienced puppy.

“Let her go. Now.” A serious Rex intervened, causing Elena to breathe a sigh of relief. “Don’t you know who she is?! Plus, you’re not doing it right like that…” He continued sternly.

“Because…” He trailed off with a threatening smile.

“You do it like this!” He exclaimed as he attacked Elena, tickling her hard under the shoulders, making her scream even more.

Marco, who was her first captor, was tickling her lower belly and hips.

“You are so right, Rex!” He shouted to make himself heard, overcoming Elena’s threats, cries, and her harsh movements to free herself. “This way is making her scream more!” He continued with an evil laugh.

“When I break free ...I swear that I-I…” But poor Elena was unable to complete her sentence, between coughing and laughing so hard. She truly hated being tickled, it was her secret weakness, but of course her monstrous friends didn’t give a hoot about it.

“Oh my dear! Are you trying to say something?” Marco asked in a falsely sweet tone. “I can’t hear you, I’m sorry!” He mocked her, increasing the tickle ‘dose’.

“Pl-please! Enough!” Elena could barely utter those words, as her heart was about to explode under that ticklish attack. ‘Remind me again why I’m friends with these pumpkin heads!’ Elena yelled at Titilas who strangely purred in response.

Uhu? What’s wrong with my wolf!?

When a frightening snarl and loud metallic noise rumbled in the parking lot opposite Redwood High School, many students froze on the spot, some whined, and most bowed their heads. As for Elena, her stomach filled with millions of magical butterflies while the purring of a very happy Titilas increased.

‘Mate mate mate!’ She was chanting.

Elena supposed her attack was over, given that Marco and Rex had immediately stopped what they were doing.

The Alpha girl had exploited the situation to her advantage and had quickly freed herself from their grip, punching Rex on the belly and nudging Marco on his hip. Both winced… What a fantastic sound for Elena’s ears!

Sweet revenge.

“Why did he break that car!?” Rex said frowning and ignoring Elena, while Marco smirked, gazing between the angry Alpha and a flushed-red Elena. The latter avoided Marco’s knowing look and checked on her beautiful mate.

Mirko was standing near the school’s entrance, breathing heavily with his chest rising and falling, his broad shoulders moving up and down frenetically as if he hadn’t breathed for an hour. His eyes trailed down to where she was holding Rex’s arm before he let out a glass shattering roar, range and possessiveness dripping from his eyes... Elena felt so excited by the way he was looking at her.

Unable to resist, she was about to go to him, when suddenly he strode away. Her angry mate was heading towards the forest, not before sending another mortal glare at Rex and Marco.

“What the-” Rex was interrupted by Marco. “Oh! Just shut up Rex! Let’s go to class.” He grabbed Rex’s arm, but didn’t touch Elena, who was staring at the spot where Mirko had disappeared.

With a dreamy face and a lingering smile.

Her possessive mate had saved her from the tickling attack and was green from jealousy.

Meanwhile Marco and Rex had started pushing each other and were in the middle of a fight, trying to make the other fall to the ground. Suddenly, their fake battle was interrupted by another snarl, this one more savage, though less ‘spicy’ than Mirko’s.

“Oh gosh! What is wrong with these crazy Devil wolves!?” Rex raised his arms to the sky, as if expecting Moon Goddess to answer his ridiculous question. Marco mocked Rex and ran to Crucifero who had appeared out of nowhere, as an evil demon.

The lovers had spent the whole night in their new home. Marco had sent Elena a text message warning them not to wait for him and to return to Full Moon. Without him.

Then he had disappeared, no texts or calls, until that morning, when he had decided to ambush Elena.

They had probably been very busy enjoying some time alone in their new nest.

Everyone was surprised by Crucifero’s great romantic gesture: an entire house! What more he had started building it since the first day he met Marco!

Full Moon had been the place where The Killing Machine spent most of his time with Marco (before the accident), under the annoyed faces of Elena’s and Marco’s fathers. Barely tolerated, probably on behalf of Marco’s love, Elena had often seen them whispering to each other, glaring daggers at Crucifero while shaking their heads.

Finally, the couple could start a new life together, with a well-deserved privacy.

It seemed that Crucifero had become overprotective of Marco, especially after having almost lost him during the attack.

In fact, when Marco reached Crucifero, where he was standing, Crucifero looked at him worried, scanning him from head to toe for potential injures. When satisfied and sure his mate was fine, Crucifero shifted his attention to Rex and bared his teeth. And, at the same time, Marco gave Rex his middle finger with a malicious grin.

Elena bent over at the waist, arms crossed over her belly, laughing at the look on Rex’s face.

“Unbelievable!” Rex muttered shaking his head. “I’ve finally felt that I was starting to be friends with ’that wardrobe’, and he starts again with all those violent growls!” Then he glared at Elena wiping her tears. “And what are you laughing at?” Rex narrowed his eyes, looking more serious.

“We really have to talk, El. About you and your strange behaviour. And oh! Today it just happens to be Monday!”

His words seemed a death’s sentence.

Elena gulped looking around to find a diversion but unable to find one.

Monday. His special evening with Rex. The night when they spent time chatting and updating each other on their lives…

She was so screwed!
