Chapter Chapter Twenty-Six
"Who's coming?" Martin had just finished flipping over a table and setting it down.
We waited in silence as we listened to the sloshing of footsteps in the water. They were getting louder, which meant they were getting closer. The footsteps stopped, and a odd sound rippled through the halls as something had slapped against the wall.
Lee had taken out a flashlight of his backpack and flashed it towards the crumbling doors of the old library. A dark figure appeared in the doorway, but its' shape was warped. It looked hunched over.
"...It's me." A voice of defeat. A hand that shielded its' owners face had lowered to reveal what was hiding behind it. Martin had jumped up from where he stood and ran to guard me. His hand pulled back, pulling me closer behind him.
"Stay back." Martin warned.
His warning was not needed as the figure collapsed in the murky puddles. The face belonged to R as Lee walked over to shine the light better.
"Oh jesus christ." Martin groaned. "I am not taking care of everyone!" He whined. Reluctantly, he waded through the water to R's body, "Hey buddy, you alive in there?" He poked R in the cheeks. Nothing.
"Leave it Martin!" Dee sat forward in his chair, "Pull him up on the table." He stood up, grabbing R by hooking his arms underneath R's armpits. The two of them were able to successfully pull him up onto the table. His body hit the table with an audible thud.
"Is he okay?" I asked sheepishly. Too much of a coward to walk over and see for myself.
"Christi, he looks pretty drained. If you give him your blood now, it might actually work and bring him back." Martin said. I hesitated even though he was what my body wanted.
I stood up and walked over to the table. The closer I got the more damage I noticed on R's face. Gouges of flesh had been taken out of his face. They made him almost unrecognizable. "R...Please...Reginald?" I begged. I was unsure if he heard me.
A firm grip on the edge of the table and I hoisted myself on top of his body, ignoring the desire to rest my head on his chest. His eyes were shut. He looked as if he were asleep. Like nothing could wake him.
Dee held out a knife. His offer confused me for a brief moment. "It might be quicker to do the neck." He held the knife to the side of my neck and pressed down firmly. The blade parting my skin stung.
I lowered myself down to R and offered my neck up to his mouth, but he acted as if it were nothing. Then, my brain had a light bulb moment.
I dipped my finger in the blood that dribbled down my neck and smeared it on my lips. Every muscle roared back to life as our lips met. My body craved his even more the moment he touched me.
"Just drink." I softly moaned as I gave in and offered every bit of myself to him. My body weight shifted completely to rely on him for support. As if nothing had ever happened. As if Selena had never taken him from me.
R's mouth was greedy on my neck. I couldn't tell if it was for me, the blood, or both. All I knew in that moment was that I would gladly give him whatever he asked of me.
R pulled away once he had what was needed, "Christi." His voice soft as he pushed me back. His eyes focused on me. They looked completely normal. I had never gotten time to stare into his eyes and notice how blue they were.
In his eyes I could tell that he knew me. In the way his smile disappeared shortly after, I knew he had realized what he had done. He shot up, almost throwing me off of him.
"Shhhhh." I grabbed his face and pulled it to mine, "It doesn't matter." My lips met his once again. Pure euphoria.
Nothing else in the world mattered at that exact second as R confirmed everything to me with that kiss. We were still bonded.
"Maybe we should leave." I heard Lee say in the background. Their feet scuttling out of the old library made me giggle.
R circled his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him. Our bodies lined up perfectly. His body filled in the cracks of mine as I melted in his grip and let the closeness of his body consume me.
Hands crept underneath my shirt, following every twist and turn until they came to a crossroad that felt like home. Hands rested on my back, holding me down. Soft kisses landed like rain as my shirt lifted and our bare skin met.
The earth quaked as sturdy arms picked me up and laid me down. My pants coming undone in the mix only left a small window for them to be pulled off. With a swift pull, they easily came off.
Air left my lungs when he finally rested all of his weight on me. Feeling every inch of bare skin against mine sent my mind into a haze. My body shook with nerves as we fumbled for dominance in the old library. Laughter filled my lungs again as we figured out a rhythm, feeling him in whole.
His body crashing into mine like a wave. My body was his shores. Calling out to him and he finally answered by crashing into me one last time like a tidal wave.
The air had become so dense and quiet, or maybe I hadn't realized how loud we were. R had kissed me one last time before picking up our clothes from the aftermath of us.
"I wish we could lay here a little longer, however I think it is important that we all get caught up." R had wiped that smile off of his face.
I agreed. I slipped my shirt back on and followed him. He seemed to know his way around as he quickly found the others. They had been hiding in another part of the old halls. Probably trying to get away from our sighs and moans.
"Well it's good to see you back to yourself." Dee greeted R first with a handshake and then a pat on the back.
Martin snuck in with a snide comment, only to turn himself around with a 'We're glad you're back!'
Lee was the most excited one of the bunch. It was like a family reunion to him.
