Chapter 83
William took Vanessa. Jim, and the driver to the village for an inspection.
On the way, Jim who was sitting in the passenger’s seat looked back to discuss William about their schedule. “Mr. Hawk, let’s go to Greenwood Village first. Greenwood Village and Milestone Village are next to each other. The Yost Group is still negotiating with them and they haven’t come to an agreement yet. We can offer a favorable price to let the villagers. cooperate with us.”
“Yes,” William replied.
After the Yost Group’s live–stream platform was hacked that day, they suffered a great loss, while the live–stream platform under the Hawk Group gained a lot of fans.
The Hawk Group had originally planned to expand the planting and breeding. Now, they put in more effort than they had scheduled.
Hearing what his boss said, Jim turned around and called the head of Greenwood Village.
After more than three hours of driving, they arrived at Greenwood Village.
The weather was overcast and it was starting to get dark when it was only five o’clock in the afternoon.
Mr. Hecox, the head of Greenwood Village brought a few officials to the entrance of the village to welcome William’s group.
After they got out of the car, Mr. Hecox led them to the house of Katerine Cobb who was the richest in the village.
The three–story villa with a modern style was built last year. There were not many people in the family, and it was very neat. Moreover, the shower was separated from the toilet.
As there was no hotel in the village, they could only let William and the others stay with such a family. This was the best they could do.
The villagers were enthusiastic. They knew that the guests might invest in their village, so a few women offered to go to Katerine’s house to help her with cooking when they learned that William would arrive at five o’clock this afternoon.
the women
They had been busy cooking for a while before William and the others arrived. When they saw them come, immediately went out to greet them.
They said warmly, “Come on in and take a seat.”
After their guests walked into the living room and sat down on the sofa, they immediately brought them coffee and fruit.
At the same time, someone began to place dishes on a big table.
The fragrance of meat filled the room in an instant.
Jim’s eyes
lit up He did not say anything, but he could tell that the dishes were especially delicious.
“Come on, have some coffee and rest for a while. Then we’ll have dinner. You guys may take a good rest after dinner. I’m sorry, the conditions in the village are so poor,” Mr. Hecox said apologetically.
“Don’t stand on ceremony with us. The environment here is very good. As soon as we arrived, we felt our minds at peace. I hope that we will have more chances to come here in the future,” William said politely.
His words made the women who cooked for them very happy. They said enthusiastically. “The environment in the village is just okay. We’re glad that you like it. The dinner is ready. Mr. Hecox, you guys may start.”
Mr. Hecox said. “Everyone, come to the dining table and take a seat.”
William and the others stood up and walked up to the dining table.
The square tables in the countryside were so large that 20 dishes could be placed on each. William glanced at the table in front of him and saw that it was almost filled with at least a dozen dishes on it.
He could tell the dishes were delicious from the fragrance in the air.
“Would you like some wine? We brewed it ourselves,” Katerine asked, feeling a little shy.
“Yes. Thank you,” William replied with a smile.
Jim grew even more excited. He asked William, “Mr. Hawk, can I have some?”
“You’re not going anywhere tonight. You can have some, of course.”
“That’s great!” Jim rubbed his hands with a smile like an excited child.
“Nessa, do you want some too?” William asked.
Katerine immediately chimed in. “You can drink some. It’s homemade without additives inside and it’s not that strong. It’s good for your health if you drink a little every once in a while.”

Come on, have some,” William said.
Katerine immediately poured a glass of wine for Vanessa. “You can drink as much as you want. We’ve brewed a lot
Vanessa looked at the wine in front of her, feeling so helpless.
“Let’s start. Try the dishes to see if you guys like them.” Mr. Hecox said with a smile.
Jim picked up a piece of chicken and placed it into his mouth. He then exclaimed as if he enjoyed it very much, “Wow, it tastes really good! It’s so tender that I feel like it’s about to melt in my mouth. I already swallowed it up, but the fragrance of the chicken is still lingering in my mouth. It’s just so good.”
A villager smiled and gave him a thumbs up. “People from the city are indeed different from us. They’re well–educated. When we want to say something tastes good, we can’t come up with anything but ‘yum“.”
His words caused everyone to burst into laughter.
“This small fish is delicious. Try it.” William placed a fried fish on Vanessa’s plate.
Hearing that, Katerine smiled and said, “The fish is from my family’s reservoir. Every year when we drain the reservoir, there are a lot of small fish at the bottom of it. We’ll make them into dried fish. If you’re free next month, you can come and watch us drain the reservoir. It’s very lively.”
“Alright, we’ll definitely come,” William answered with a smile.
Mr. Hecox said cheerfully, “Mr. Hawk, deal.”
“Deal.”
Mr. Hecox continued. “Mr. Hawk, I told you our conditions on the phone. How about we discuss the details while eating?”
“Okay. We can meet all the conditions you mentioned on the phone. We’ll do a field inspection tomorrow and finalize the planting area and crop varieties. Then, we can sign the agreement. The project is scheduled to start next spring.” William said.
“You agree to our conditions? You’ll agree even if we allocate funds to each household in our village?” Mr. Hecox asked in disbelief.
William nodded. “Yes. We both want to work together to boost agriculture and livestock here. To accomplish our common goal, I will do my best to support you.”
“Thank you. Everyone, let’s toast to Mr. Hawk together.” Mr. Hecox was extremely excited.
The villagers who were eating with them were also very happy. They raised their glasses and made a toast to William.
“Mr. Hawk, what time do you usually sleep at night?” Mr. Hecox asked.
“10 o’clock,” William said. Actually, he usually went to bed later than that.
“How about we light a bonfire and chat outside later? It’s also a good opportunity for Mr. Hawk to know more about the situation of our village,” Mr. Hecox suggested.
William turned to Vanessa. Seeing her eyes light up, he immediately agreed. “Okay.”
After dinner, it was dark outside.
Some villagers of Greenwood Village lit a bonfire in the front yard of Katerine’s house.
Everyone walked out with their stools and sat down around the fire to chat.
They had specially prepared chairs with cushions for Vanessa and the rest to make them more comfortable.
Katerine smiled and said, “We happen to have a barbecue rack. Let’s make some barbecue later.”
“Yes, yes! That’s a good idea,” Mr. Hecox echoed.
Katerine’s house was located at the border between Greenwood Village and Milestone Village.
Beside her house was a brand–new three–story villa that belonged to Ronald Blair from Milestone Village.
Jackson was staying at Ronald’s house tonight.
People always wanted to keep up with the Joneses. Seeing the bonfire next door, Ronald suggested lighting a bonfire as well.
Jackson stood at the door of Ronald’s house after dinner. When he looked over at Katerine’s house, he saw a woman who looked especially like Vanessa.
It was so dark outside that he couldn’t see the woman’s face clearly.
He wondered if it was just an illusion.
He couldn’t help but ask, “Mr. Lynch, what’s going on over there?”
Chapter 83
News spread quickly in the village. Mr. Lynch already knew why William was here. “I heard that people from the flawk Group came to inspect.”
The Hawk Group?
So it was really Vanessa.
Jackson looked at the bonfire opposite him, his gaze unfathomable.
