Black Sun Academy: The Next Generation (book 1)

Chapter 26

Nox

I amazed myself at being so cool, calm, and collected when I sat down next to Blaise in the cafeteria. I was astounded at how easy it was to share details about my life with her. And more than anything I was stunned when she offered to help me get information about the botched mission. A giddiness crept up inside me after she told me her uncle and the twin’s father work for the S.C.D.

My mind whirls with the thought of getting answers that I’d been dying to know for the last fourteen years. And of course, to exact revenge on the liars who targeted my family in the first place.

Blaise

Clover is with her Italian stud whose name I learned is Jaxson leaving me alone in our room. I don’t mind though because after the weekend I’ve had, some silence and solitude are most pleasurable.

A knock sounds at the door but it’s so faint that I dismiss it thinking that it was done on the door next to us. When the sound comes again a little firmer, I realize it is against my door. My heart flutters thinking that one or both of the twins have finally decided to come and talk with me.

Who I wasn’t expecting to see was Professor Dearil! “Gavin! What are you doing here?” I hissed out in surprise. “Are you insane?” My mouth is hanging open and my eyes are the size of saucers as I stare in shock.

He has a crooked grin set upon his lips and he glances up and down the hallway before asking quietly, “may I come in?” Placing a hand on his arm I yank him quickly into the room.

“What in the hell are you doing here? You could be seen by other students! Do you want to get caught or something?”

Gavin places his hands on either side of my face making it so I can’t look anywhere but into his jewel green eyes. “Blaise keep calm. No one’s gonna catch me. I’m a wolf shifter and have amazing hearing plus I know how to blend in with my surroundings.”

“B-b-but why risk it?” I stutter out. “I’m not worth you losing your job!”

“I needed to know you’re okay. The urge to take care of and protect you is overwhelming. Honestly, I think you’re my fated.” Gavin’s eyes widen as if he didn’t mean to say that to me but since he’s broached the topic, I decide to tell him about the others.

“About that. There’s no denying this pull I have towards you. From the moment I met you I wanted you.” I blush at the revelation but continue. “But I have this same feeling with three other guys and if what you think is true about us being fated then I must say that I’m their fated as well. Though Nox referred to the connection as a bond.

“Yeah, I already knew. I could tell during our first class. The way they looked at you and cared for you when you were under that spell, I could see the connection between the five of us. So, I’m yours in whatever way you’ll have me. We’ll figure all that out as we go. What I want to know right now though is if you’re alright?”

Wrapping my arms around his waist I pull him to me so I can hug him and rest my head against his chest. Gavin wraps his arms around me with his arms draped across my arms, fisting his hands together in the middle of my back. “I’m okay now. Someone drugged me when I was at the senior party Friday night, and I had a very bad reaction to it.”

Gavin’s body tenses at my words and he pushes me away from him so he can look into my eyes. “Who did it and why?”

“The why is because they set me up and when I passed out, I was stripped naked and photographed with some random dude in the bed with me. After which the photos were sent via text message to the entire student body. It was a set up to get Braeden to hate me and I must say it worked because he isn’t speaking to me. Though it worked a little too well because Carden hasn’t spoken to me either.”

My lower lip trembles slightly at this admission but Gavin just lowers his mouth to mine claiming it in a kiss. “Everything will be alright, honey. It’ll all work out, I promise.” I roll my eyes because he shouldn’t promise something like that but whatever. He gives me one more deep kiss before saying, “I need to head back but text me if you need anything at all, okay.”

Carden

Braeden and I are up bright and early Monday morning. Our intention is to be waiting at the office door by the time the staff arrives at seven. With a half hour to kill we go to the cafeteria and get some breakfast. Once we are seated Braeden looks at me. “We should talk with Blaise and let her know we know she was set up.”

“We will,” I respond, “but I want to speak with Dean Knight first and hopefully bring some good news for her, ya know.”

“Yeah, alright,” he concedes, and he stands to go grab himself another coffee. “You want another?” Once we both have fresh cups of coffee in hand, we begin to make our way to the Dean’s office. Her staff is just walking through the now unlocked door as we stride towards it.

“Gentlemen, what can I do for you today?” Her assistant Adam asks us cheerily.

At the same time we both say, “we need to speak with the Dean.” He smiles at hearing us speak in unison as most people do when twins talk.

“Hmm, she’s on the phone at the moment but if you’ll take a seat, I’ll message her to let her know you wish to see her.” Braeden grunts and I sigh but we do as asked and sit down on two not so comfortable chairs. It feels like we’ve been sitting in the waiting area for an hour when we are finally given permission to enter her office.

“Boys!” Raegan says with a smile. “What brings you lot by today?”

Raegan exudes a bubbliness that is expressed in her wide blue eyes as she sits behind her desk sporting a tailored-made business suit that was specifically designed for her small frame. “Sorry to put a damper on your mood so early in the morning,” Braeden begins to say just as I jump in.

“Something needs to be done about Morgan Wells.” Raegan steeples her fingers before placing them against her chin and bottom lip. Her brow creases as she stares at me waiting to hear why. “She’s been tormenting Blaise Salvino since the first day of school. She’s pissed because Braeden doesn’t want to be with her, and she thinks that Blaise is the reason why.”

Raegan shifts her gaze to Braeden. “Is that true?”

Braeden coughs and clears his throat. “Yes and no. But still it shouldn’t matter, and Morgan isn’t just pulling pranks on her, she’s caused physical pain to Blaise twice now and there’s proof on just about every student’s phone with the last vengeful act she did towards her.” Braeden’s voice catches in his throat so I continue the conversation.

“First while we were in our astronomy class Morgan put a freezing spell on Blaise. I think Healer B filled out a medical report.”

“Yes, I recall the incident. We excused her from classes on Tuesday because of it. I was under the impression that no one knew who had cast the spell though.”

I nod my head. “Well on Friday night when the seniors were throwing that party on their floor, Morgan drugged Blaise and then took very inappropriate photos of her and then like we said, the entire student body has naked images of Blaise on their phones now.” My voice has become agitated, and I’ve balled my hands into fists.

“How are you so sure it was Morgan who sent the photos out? Do you have any definitive proof that it was she who did so?” Raegan looks at us questioningly.

I sigh as Braeden growls out, “Well, who else would do such a horrible thing. I know it in my gut that it was that bitch!” I place a hand on Braeden’s arm and send calming magic over him so that he cools down.

“I will question her, but we have no proof who the sender of those photos were. She will be given a warning that if any further incidents occur with her name attached, she will face severe repercussions.”

“That’s it?” I ask in a huff as I jump from my chair.

“Unfortunately for now it is.” We barely hear Raegan say this as we storm out of her office slamming the door behind us.
