Chapter 25
Blaise
Sunday morning, I woke up feeling ten times better. As I sit up in bed my phone buzzes twice on the nightstand. Picking it up I pull up my text messages, two unread messages waiting for me. My heart jumps a little at seeing Nox’s name attached to one of them. The other was an unknown number.
Unknown: You didn’t show up last night?
Me: Professor Dearil?
Unknown: 😉
Me: Got sick. Spent time at the clinic. Will explain later.
Unknown: Okay...
Closing out of that string of texts I click on Nox’s name to see his message.
Nox: Hey darlin’ how you feeling? Think you’ll be able to meet for coffee in an hour-Ish?
Me: I’m feeling good, amazingly! And yeah, that would be fine.
Glancing over to Clover’s bed I see her sleeping peacefully in her bed. As much as I want to know how her talk with the guys went, I know she was with me most of Saturday in the clinic. So, she’s probably exhausted, and I won’t disturb her.
Climbing out of my bed I go into the bathroom to shower. I need to wash the hospital clinic-ie smell off of me before I go anywhere. After I’m done and dried off, I look at my phone to see how hot it’s supposed to be today before I sort out what I’m going to wear. High of eighty. Hot but not unbearable.
Slipping into a pair of black shorts, I grab a light pink tee shirt and flip it over my head. Looking at the time on my phone I decided to walk over to the cafeteria. There’s only fifteen minutes until our meet up time anyway.
Once inside I make a bee line for the coffee station and fill up a cup with the dark steaming liquid. After I’ve capped it, I walk over to the tables and take a seat. There’s only three other people and they all claimed a table towards the back of the room.
Nox must have had the same idea about arriving a little early because he strolls in just a few minutes after I sat down. He spotted me right away and then made quick work of getting himself a cup of coffee too. With coffee in hand, he walks over to me and sits down, right next to me. Nox takes a long sip of his drink before turning his chair to face me. “I was born in America, but my parents moved us to Ireland when I was four. They never told me why and I had just assumed it was because my grandmother, my dad’s mom, lived there.” Nox raises his eyes to me, but the blue color has turned grey, and he looks to be in pain.
“One night when I was about six years old, two strangers showed up at our little cottage. They were arguing with my parents and then I was suddenly thrust into a cubby hole and into utter darkness. Just as suddenly there was the sound of exploding wood and the thunder of footsteps as people stormed into our house! I heard gunshots and then silence. I was too scared to move and so I stayed put. I’m not sure how long I was stuck in the darkness for but when the cubby door opened, I stared into the blue eyes of my grandmother.”
My mouth felt open, and I stared at him in shock, but he wasn’t done talking just yet. “Grandma held me in her arms, but she couldn’t stop me from looking around the kitchen. Two bodies lay on the floor with bullets in their heads. Two others, my parents, were decapitated. Your parents Blaise oversaw that mission, but they were given false information! My parents weren’t part of any rogue vampire groups. They weren’t even living in the states when the rogue vampires began their attacks.”
My hand flew to my mouth as I gasped. “Nox I’m so sorry you had to bear witness to such a horrendous act. My parents died when I was four. I know I didn’t experience what you did but I do understand some of the pain you’re going through.” Taking hold of his hand I give it a squeeze because really, what else can I do?
Nox leans over and places a kiss at the corner of my lips by my cheek. “You are the first person I’ve ever told about that day,” he admits. A sad smile slides across my face and then I reach out to take hold of his face with my hands and bring his lips to mine in a chaste kiss.
My eyes light up as a thought popped into my head. “We should see if we could somehow get a hold of the mission files and see what information is in them to have led my parents to their doorstep!”
“You’d be willing to help me do that?” Nox asks in surprise.
“Of course I will,” I exclaim excitedly. “But where would we even start?”
He contemplates my question for a second. “Well, all missions are organized and sanctioned through the S.C.D. so I think we’d have the most luck starting there. We just need to find someone who works for them.” As he says this two names pop into my head. Uncle Devon and the twin’s dad, Chris.
“I think I know who can help us!” Nox arches and eyebrow. “The twins, Braeden and Carden. Their dad works at the S.C.D., we can also try talking with my Uncle Devon.”
“The twins? You mean your other two boyfriends?” Now it’s my turn to raise a questioning eyebrow.
“Um, what do you mean my OTHER boyfriends? Do I have more boyfriends I haven’t heard about? And they’re not my boyfriends. I mean, I’m not sure what we are.” My tone is teasing as I say this which causes a sly grin to slide across his face.
“Well, you know I’m interested and then you’ve got the professor...” I slap him against the arm and hiss out a “shush!”
He winks, I growl and then he leans next to my ear and whispers, “I don’t mind sharing. I’m not sure how your other ‘friends’ feel about the whole situation but I’m all in if it means I get to spend time with you.” My eyes go wide as he says this and my cheeks heat turning cherry red because I can’t control the blush rushing over my face. It’s his turn to take my hand and give it a reassuring squeeze.
“Being raised in the human world having more than one boyfriend was never a consideration. I guess I’ll have to have a chat, well if they’re speaking to me. I think they really believe I slept with some random dude that I don’t even know!”
He considered what I said for a second, “If it helps, tell them I think we all have a soul bond with you. Including your professor.”
“Okay. Well, I think I’m going to go back to my room and see if Clover’s up yet. I sent her on a mission last night to see if she could chat with the twins and I haven’t had a chance to speak with her yet to find out if she was successful.”
We both stand up together. “Alright, I’ll see you later then.” Nox gives me a quick peck on the cheek as I say okay.
“Well, I don’t know if they heard me, but I did talk with the twins.” Clover says with a frustrated sigh. “I told them all about how you had been drugged and would never do something so crazy as sleep with some rando. I told them that we are pretty sure that was all staged for Braeden’s benefit and when you and Morgan had done that shot that the glass, she gave you had already been spiked.”
Clover shrugs her shoulders before adding, “if it helps when I told them you had been drugged looks of concern and worry flashed in their eyes. My advice would be to let them wrap their heads around what I told them, and they will come around and come back to you.”
Huffing a laugh I say, “well, I’m not sure I’d want to be with either one of them if they are so easily fooled into believing I’d go off and sleep with some dude I don’t even know!”
“No, I get it,” Clover bites her bottom lip before adding, “I think you all just need to sit down and have a serious talk because I really think they are your soul mates!” I’m surprised to hear her say something so truthful and am only able to nod my head in response.

Braeden
I’m going to kill that bitch! Morgan deserves something worse than death though. “I think we need to go to the dean and let her know what Morgan’s been up to.”
Carden looks at me for a second as he mulls over my suggestion and then nods his head. “I agree but only because we were raised to never hit a girl.”
