Chapter Well, This is Awkward
Several werewolves, and one vampire snarled at them. “Stand down, Michael. Don’t make me rip your throat out.” Hades said calmly, but there was a dark undertone that made Aiko purr.
“Oh, hello Hades.”
Guadalupe worked her jaw. “You horny bastard.” She hissed at Aiko, and though she couldn't see it, Guadalupe knew that she simply shrugged.
“Guadalupe what the fuck are you doing?” Jamie asked, and she could tell he was trying not to scream at her. She turned her head to look at her best friend. “You be quiet. I’ll deal with you later.”
Her eyes turned to Keon. “You too.” The males looked at each other with panicked expressions, and with a satisfied smile, Guadalupe returned to the problem at hand. “You didn’t answer my question Hades.”
Both hands were encased; one in warmth, one in coolness, and both tingly. “I came to get you, dragostea mea." Hades kissed her hand, and Guadalupe melted. She could feel her cheeks growing warm at the gesture and at the way he looked at her then.
“I’m not particularly in danger, Hades.” She said lowly, and Nox’s chest rumbled on her other side. “Yes, she’s perfectly fine. Now, I'll kindly ask you to leave my territory, and I won’t report this to the Counsel.”
Nox and Hades glared daggers at each other. “I’m not leaving without my Beloved.” Hades gritted out, his hand tightening around Guadalupe’s.
“And I’m not letting a leech take my mate.” Nox growled, pulling Guadalupe closer to him.
“Listen mutt, I could simply rip your spine out and take her with me anyway. This is me asking nicely.”
“I would fucking love to see you try. See how quickly I'll dislodge your head from your shoulders.” Nox took a step forward.
“Your heart would be out of your chest before you could even move.” Hades moved forward.
Guadalupe’s head whipped about as they shot threats at each other, and Aiko was basking in it. “Oh, they’re fighting over us.”
“Yeah. It feels so weird.” Guadalupe said, shifting on her feet. Aiko hummed. “Just enjoy it, Lupe.” Guadalupe scoffed. “How could I? I don’t want either of them to get hurt.”
“You wanna bet, leech prince?” Nox growled, taking yet another step forward and Hades snarled at him, stepping up as well. “No use in that. You would lose either way.”
“Okay!” Guadalupe called out, stretching out her arms to push them back, “Can we not talk about this? We’re civilized people, right?”
“Mutts are never civilized.” Hades murmured, and Nox snorted. “As if leeches are any better.”
They fell silent after that, still promising death with their eyes. On either side, a force knocked into Guadalupe and she staggered on her feet. She glanced around in confusion, seeing werewolves and vampires alike crumpling prostrate to the ground; even Beta Asknes and Jamie were on their knees with their heads bent.
“Lupe,” Aiko panted, “They’re pushing out their dominance to get the other to submit.”
“Oh.” Was all Guadalupe could say. Her legs felt too weak to hold her upright, but she fought it off. What she couldn’t fight off was her body’s other reactions. Her cheeks grew warm as she squeezed her thighs.
Nox and Hades inhaled deeply, and growled lowly. Her fingers curled into their chests, and Guadalupe gulped as she felt herself grow damper. “Roccio.” Nox gritted out, turning his head towards Jamie, “Stand up. Get her inside the pack house. I don’t plan on giving anyone a show.”
Guadalupe felt a familiar hand wrap around her waist. “Okay, time to go.” Jamie said, and Guadalupe was ripped away and carried to the pack house before she could get any words out.
Guadalupe shuffled out of the bathroom, the flush of her cheeks still present. Jamie met her eyes then quickly looked away, his tongue poking his cheek.
She sat next to him on the bed, and there was an uncomfortable silence around them. “Do you want to talk about it?” Guadalupe asked meekly, and Jamie scoffed lightly. The events of yesterday had not left her mind; not to mention less than ten minutes ago, when she felt his nose brush against her neck. She didn't miss the growl that had rumbled in his throat.
“What is there to talk about? My wolf and I love you in a way that we shouldn’t, and you’re our Alpha’s mate. Not to mention the Vampire Prince just invaded our territory, here just for you.” He sounded so... defeated.
She was shaking. “H-have you seen your mate? Or met them at all?” She asked dumbly, and Jamie shook his head. “No. We-” he paused, sighing heavily, “we had hoped that you were ours. But...”
“I’m not.” Guadalupe finished, and she squeezed her fingers in an attempt to quell the burning in her nose. But the tears still came. “Jamie,” Guadalupe whispered, squeezing and twisting her fingers, “I don’t want this to ruin us. I don't want to lose my best friend.”
Jamie looked at her with a world of pain in his eyes, and the tears fell faster. He pulled her into her arms, and her head lay on his shoulder. “I’ll try to keep my heart at bay,” he tilted her head up, meeting her eyes. “But me loving you is never going to change.”
Guadalupe sniffled. “Did you have to make it rhyme?” The tension broke as they laughed. And even as their laughter died down, they stayed in their embrace, drawing strength from each other.
“Do you really think that they’re both your mates?” Jamie asked after two minutes of silence, and Guadalupe shrugged. “Maybe... I don’t know. How do you truly identify your mate?”
His arms loosened from around her. “You feel it when you touch. There are these... sparks and tingles.” His eyebrows were creased. “At least, that’s what I’ve been told.” Jamie looked at her then. “Do you feel it with both of them?”
Guadalupe nodded, and Jamie blew out a breath. “I think we might need to go to the Counsel.”
“We do need to go to the Counsel.” Nox said as he entered the room, Hades following close behind him. Luna Marisol, Beta Asknes, Keon and Violetta entered afterwards.
“Ada are you okay?” Violetta asked, throwing her arms around Guadalupe’s shoulders and squeezing her tightly. Guadalupe hugged her back. “Yeah. Why wouldn’t I be?”
“Well, finding out that not only are you mated to a werewolf, but possibly a vampire as well, after just coming out of heat induced by your werewolf mate marking you can be pretty mind-boggling.” Violetta said, seating herself on the bed.
“Not to mention finding out your best friend has been crushing on you for ages.” Keon piped in, and Jamie growled. “Maldito traidor." Keon shrugged, unfazed.
“I knew it.” Nox growled as he approached the bed, and Hades simply stood there, glaring at Jamie. Guadalupe stood up, blocking Jamie from Nox. “Nope, no. You’re not touching him, Nox.”
Her eyes turned to Hades. “Don’t even think about hurting him either.” Hades smiled innocently. “Who, me? Why draga mea, I would never.” It was Guadalupe’s turn to glare, and Hades sighed.
“I will not hurt the Gamma mutt. I know how much he means to you.” He murmured, crossing his arms and leaning against a wall. “I thought I told you to get out of my head?”
Hades blinked at her. “No.”
Guadalupe huffed. A thought came to her, and her head snapped to Keon. “You! Why did you never mention that you and Nox were cousins?” Keon simply shrugged, shoving his hands in his pockets.
“It wasn’t really worth mentioning.” Guadalupe growled, and everyone flinched. “Your eyes flashed.” Luna Marisol stammered, and Guadalupe winced. “Sorry.” She whispered. She inhaled deeply, then turned to Keon again.
“On which side of the family?”
“His father.” Guadalupe’s eyebrows creased. “But-- the last names aren’t the same...” she looked at Nox, Violetta, and Luna Marisol, who nodded.
“No, they’re not.” She said, and Guadalupe tilted her head. “But why?”
“Perché il mio cognome è il Migliore." Luna Marisol said proudly, and Guadalupe snorted as Nox and Violetta groaned. "She's been waiting to say that joke for years." Nox said as he massaged his temples.
"It seemed worth the wait." Hades said, his face devoid of emotions, but Guadalupe saw the amusement in his eyes.
"So..." Guadalupe began after a moment of silence, "the Counsel?" Everyone in the room either growled or groaned.
"Because my last name is Best."~Hope you guys are okay! (づ ̄ 3 ̄)づ~
