Chapter BIT 82
Chapter 82
Jacob took a deep breath, but before he could explain, the wedding organizer staff interrupted them because the ceremony was about to begin.
“So, is he walking you down the aisle or not?” the wedding organizer asked quickly.
Rebecca looked at Jacob for a long time, and deep down, she knew Jacob had always been on her side since they accidentally met when she was crying in front of Jacob’s Café, exhausted by her life. Finally, she nodded, causing Jacob to smile slightly, though she could sense disappointment in his face.
The music played, and Rebecca entered the church with Jacob walking beside her, causing Sean, Angela, and Cassie to frown in confusion because they didn’t know who
he was.
Rebecca’s heart pounded loudly in her ears. From a distance, she could see Sean standing in his black tuxedo, looking more handsome than usual. Suddenly, she heard Jacob whisper, “Are you sure about this? There’s still time to call it off if you want.” Rebecca swallowed hard, not glancing at Jacob at all, and focused her gaze on Sean.
‘I don’t love Scan like I loved Harvey, but all the craziness about Harvey and me has to stop here, or it will never end. Enough is enough! If Harvey can easily do what he wants, why can’t I? Besides, Sean is a good father, and Lily will get the complete family she deserves. I don’t even care about love anymore! Rebecca thought to herself.
She didn’t respond to Jacob’s words and kept her eyes on Sean, who looked at her with hope as if he was placing his entire life in her hands.
“Please take care of my friend. If I ever hurt her, you know who you’ll have to face,” Jacob whispered as he handed Rebecca to Scan, and Rebecca could hear it clearly, sending chills down her spine.
“Hey, are you ready?” Sean whispered, barely moving his lips so no one else could eavesdrop. Rebecca nodded nervously, glancing at Lily and seeing her sleeping soundly in Angela’s arms, her new grandmother.
“For Lily,” Rebecca said, her voice choking.
Sean nodded, “For Lily”

The ceremony proceeded solemnly, and when Sean recited his vows, Rebecca couldn’t hold back her tears because she felt they were both sacrificing themselves for the happiness of the ones they loved.
“Rebecca Harper, I vow to love you and Lily and protect you with my life,” Sean ended his vow with a trembling voice. Rebecca knew that as he said those vows, Sean must have felt guilty as if he were saying goodbye to Maggie and Bea.
“I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride!”
Rebecca and Sean looked at each other awkwardly; they had never had any physical intimacy before. Sean stepped forward and whispered, “May I?”
Rebecca nodded and closed her eyes, letting Scan kiss her gently. There were no special thrills, no electric shocks, until Sean released the kiss accompanied by the applause of the guests.
Shortly after, Rebecca was sure she had no feelings for Sean and was convinced that their marriage would only make them like a pair of friends.
During the photo session, Rebecca’s eyes searched for Jacob but couldn’t find him anywhere.
“Cassie, did you see my friend, um, the one who walked me to the altar?” she asked Cassic, who had just taken a photo with her.
Cassic shook her head while looking around, “No, I was too focused on you. Do you want me to look for him?”
Rebecca nodded, “Thank you,” she said, squeezing Cassie’s shoulder gently. A few minutes later, “I’ve looked everywhere, but I can’t find him,” Cassie said, slightly out of breath.
Rebecca frowned, not understanding why Jacob showed up and then disappeared and who had sent him here.
“Thanks, Cassic.”
“Sean, can Lily come with us in the wedding car? I can’t-”
“Of course,” Sean interrupted, nodding lightly. After the blessing ceremony, they all headed to the restaurant venue Angela had booked for the reception.

“Becky,” Angela called as Rebecca was about to walk out of the church. Rebecca turned and saw her mother–in–law looking at her with teary eyes. “Thank you,” Angela said instead of congratulations.
Rebecca felt her eyes warm up, “Me too,” she said, letting Angela hug her and Lily warmly. “You don’t know it, but you’ve saved someone’s life,” Angela said, half–crying.
“What?”
Angela took a deep breath, took out her phone, and showed something to Rebecca. “Ella helped me clean up Sean’s room at the clinic and found a folder on his PC containing his notes, and I couldn’t believe it because apparently, he always wished he would die.”
Rebecca read quickly and got goosebumps knowing that Sean thought about death every day.
In the car on the way to the restaurant, Rebecca secretly watched Sean and felt very sorry for him. “Sean…”
Sean turned, “Yes?” he asked, then looked back at the road.
“Thank you,” Rebecca said sincerely.
Sean turned, surprised, then nodded. “But I should be thanking you, and Lily. So, we’re family now, right?”
Rebecca chuckled, “We are.”
“Um, can I ask you something? You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to,” Sean said, casually.
“Sure, what is it?” Rebecca asked, curious.
“Your best friend who walked you down the aisle, who is he?”
Rebecca took a deep breath,
“His name is Jacob. Though not intensely, we’re pretty good friends because he’s always there in my worst moments. I didn’t tell him about our wedding, but suddenly he came just to walk me down the aisle, and then he disappeared,” she answered, half–dreaming. “He also told me that someone sent him to come, I thought it was one of The Specters,

Sean frowned, “That’s weird.”

Rebecca sighed, wishing she could contact Jacob, but all her contacts were lost when she decided to cut ties with everyone from her past some time ago.
Suddenly Rebecca’s phone vibrated, it was from Cassie.
“Yes, Cassie?”
“Becky, someone messed up your wedding venue. We’re checking the CCTV!”
Rebecca clenched her fists, “Alicia must be beh
