Chapter 1143 Bart and Haiden Seven (2)
Valery had received almost all the other information in a day. She planned to take the analysis of Haiden back home to study. When she looked up at the time, she found that it was already 6:30 in the evening. She confirmed the information in the chatting group and found out that all the female employees had already arrived home.
Just as she was about to pack her things and go home, she suddenly recalled something she read in Gerald's form -- the boss would always be the last to leave.
She thought for a while and took out her phone to order some food.
Haiden was skimming through the scheme that had already been modified eleven times by the planning department. The entire department was in a state of fatigue during the meeting. However, Haiden wasn't content with the new scheme. As he was about to let the planning department do it again, he changed his mind after noticing there might be an hour left when he finished his work.
He planned to spend that one hour altering the scheme.
Someone knocked on the door of his office. He didn't even raise his head and said, "Come in!"
"Mr. Cox, it's time to eat something!" Valery said. She came into his office with a plate of food and placed it on the coffee table.
Noticing that Valery had yet to leave, Haiden looked up at her and asked, "Why are you still here?"
"I'm waiting for you to get off work!" Valery said. She then looked up at Haiden and added, "I don't know what you like, so I ordered some light dishes."
"Is that porridge?" Haiden asked as he stopped his work and stood up.
"Do you like porridge?" Valery asked.
Haiden smiled but said nothing. Valery then remembered she had proposed to have some porridge with him last time when he was sick.
"Where is your dinner?" Haiden asked after seeing there was only a spoon on the table.
"Mine is on my desk!" Valery answered. She handed the spoon to Haiden and then stood up. "Call me when you finish it!" Valery said.
"Let's eat together!" Haiden said as he went to the bathroom to wash his hands.
Valery didn't refuse it. She went outside, took her porridge to his office, and sat on the sofa to eat with him. The dishes she ordered were indeed light.
"You go back home first! I will work late in the night to finish all the work today," Haiden said after the meal.
"There's no rule for the assistant to leave earlier than the boss!" Valery said. She cleaned up the coffee table and offered Haiden another cup of tea. Then she sat at her desk and began to prepare for the work the following day.
At eleven o'clock in the evening, Haiden and Valery left the company together.
In the past, Gerald also worked with him in the evening. Later on, Haiden felt that there was no need to waste his time since there was nothing to tell him to do, so he asked him to get off work early. Since then he often worked at night alone.
At that moment, Haiden had a strange feeling when he realized that he would work with Valery in the future. Perhaps he would work overtime sometimes, but she would accompany him all the time. He admired her ability.
Of course, he had some feelings for her, but he thought those personal feelings were not worth mentioning when it came to business.
Valery slowed down and said, "Mr. Cox! I don't know whether it is proper, but I want to say that you are an outstanding boss. I have always dreamed of working for a person like you. I thought Andrew would be the one, but unfortunately, he isn't."
She kept walking forward while looking straight at the road ahead. The street lights shone on her face, and Haiden noticed a slightly sad expression on her calm face. "I am grateful that you have respected me since I first met you. I always wanted to win other people's respect, but I had never gotten it until you appeared," Valery said.
Valery finally stopped and added, "Thanks for your appreciation... Thanks for hiring me when I needed to make that decision!"
She turned to look at Haiden and said, "I promise that I will do my best to help you in office."
Haiden ran on the treadmill for an hour, but his mind was full of what Valery had said to him. She promised to do her best on her job.
Her face, expression, and eyes were so impressive that he couldn't get them out of his head.
Haiden suddenly wondered why Andrew did not like Valery.
After all, Valery was not ugly at all. Though she might lack the feminine charm and gentleness, she was calm and composed. From her makeup and dress every day, one could tell that Valery was always ready for business negotiation. She kept a fighting state all the time, but her general was goofing around, so she became a deserter.
She fled to Haiden's camp.
Valery was highly competent.
Andrew must know that.
Haiden still couldn't understand why Andrew refused a loyal girl who had grown up with him since she was young.
Haiden had a bad dream that night. In his nightmare, he returned to the day he got kidnapped. He saw Valery desperately protecting her young master as if she was protecting her children.
Valery's face in that dream looked the same as she promised him to do her best.
Haiden woke up suddenly.
The alarm went off. Haiden turned off the alarm clock, washed up, and ran to the company.
Unexpectedly, Valery arrived earlier than him. He saw a cup of tea on his coffee table as Valery was cleaning up his desk. Seeing Haiden, Valery gave him a standard and professional smile. "Good morning! Mr. Cox!" Valery greeted.
"Good morning!" Haiden said with a smile.
