Chapter 1137 Bart and Haiden Five (2)
Before Haiden took the room card and entered, he saw a few men sitting in a room playing poker. The smell of smoke and wine was dispersing from their door.
"The driver said that the goods were still there when he loaded the truck. Then, he drove the truck back to the company and had a meal. The goods disappeared." After the assistant checked Haiden's room, he briefly told him what had happened and couldn't help but express his own opinion, "The driver didn't know anything. He checked the surveillance camera, and the truck was in a corner where the surveillance couldn't see. I think maybe the driver secretly took over the goods."
"Alright, I understand," Haiden told him to go back to rest. "Call me when you get in touch with the driver at seven o'clock tomorrow morning."
"Alright."
After the assistant left, Haiden took a shower. He remembered the room in the corridor, so he changed his clothes and walked out.
The proprietress at the front desk was in her forties. She wore thick makeup. Her fingernails were covered with red nail polish. She was talking to someone on the phone. When she saw Haiden coming over, she hung up immediately. Then she smiled and asked Haiden, "What's up, handsome boy?"
"Do you have cigarettes?" asked Haiden.
"Which brand do you want?" asked the landlady.
Haiden asked for a packet of Marlboro.
After giving him changes, the woman asked him, "Handsome boy, why are the three of you here to book three rooms? Are you covering up something?"
The people of the Alberton family were naturally sensitive and suspicious. Haiden had been in the Alberton family for many years, and he had already mastered the ability to read people's minds. He smiled and said nothing. The woman could not guess what he was thinking.
Haiden handed a cigarette to her.
The proprietress took it, and Haiden lit it for her.
"Don't sleep too early tonight." The proprietress smiled at him in the smoke.
Having verified the thing in his heart, Haiden smiled at her and turned to leave.
Valery had just finished bathing when someone knocked on the bathroom door. She asked through the door, "Who is there?"
"It's me," Haiden said as he stood at the door.
Valery only hesitated for a second before she opened the door.
Haiden held his luggage and a quilt in his hand. After getting inside, he closed the door and looked at Valery. "If you don't mind, I'll sleep on the floor here tonight."
Valery looked at him in silence, not understanding his words She wondered if Haiden was telling her his love in this way.
Before she could speak, Haiden had already laid the quilt on the ground.
"Mr. Cox." After Valery washed up and came out, she stood in front of Haiden and said, "Tell me what you're thinking about."
"You should go to sleep," said Haiden as he glanced at his watch.
He turned off the lights. The room immediately fell into darkness.
Valery approached her bed in the dark and slowly climbed into it. After a long time, Haiden started to move. He packed his bag and put everything in it. Then, he packed up Valery's bag and stuffed their bags under the bed.
"It's very dirty down there," Valery could not help saying.
Haiden did not speak.
When it was almost twelve o'clock, Valery saw Haiden stand still. She could not resist her sleepiness and fell into a deep sleep.
After a while, she suddenly felt something on her lips. When she opened her eyes, she realized that she was in darkness. Someone had covered her mouth.
"Don't speak." Haiden held her down.
Before Valery could struggle, Haiden had rolled her up into the quilt and stuffed her under the bed, "Stay in there. Come out when I call you."
Valery was confused.
A sound came from the door lock.
Valery's eyes widened under the bed.
Very light footsteps came from the door. The sound got closer.
Valery covered her mouth, afraid that the other party would hear her breathing.
There was more than one person at the door. It was unknown where they got the key to open this door, but it was clear that they were experienced to do so. "Habitual thieves?"
While Valery was guessing, the other party had already reached the bed.
Only then did she remember that Haiden was still on the bed!
At that moment, the person on the bed suddenly moved. In the darkness, there was the sound of bones cracking. Someone could not bear the pain and shouted.
The sound of footsteps showed their worry.
A few more people rushed into the door. They turned on the lights and found a man leaning against the wall. His arms seemed to have been dislocated. He couldn't move at all. He lay there screaming in pain. The others immediately locked their eyes on Haiden, who was wearing a suit and slowly undoing his cufflinks.
People standing in front of him were the men playing cards he saw when he passed the corridor. It looked like this group of people had nothing to do but stayed in the hotel all day. It was really suspicious.
Haiden originally thought that this was a hotel engaged in crimes. Unexpectedly, the proprietress also didn't like this group of people for a long time and reminded Haiden.
It was why Haiden knew someone would attack him tonight.
A man shouted, "He is not sleeping at all!"
Another person asked, "Where is that woman?"
