Chapter 431
Chapter 431
Alexander’s heart quivered, and his chest rose and fell violently, akin to the sensation of ingesting an exceptionally bitter pill that
sent bitterness coursing through his entire being.
His dark eyes were now filled with hopelessness.
He thought to himself, ‘Idiot? Ha! I’m an idiot!‘
For nearly two decades, he had held thoughts of the young girl close to his heart. He had carefully preserved this relationship as
his most cherished memory. Nonetheless, he now realized that this significant memory held no importance to Olivia.
At this moment, he felt as if he had become a joke.
His eyes were bloodshot as he glared at Olivia. With a choked voice, he asked word by word, “Is that memory really so
unbearable to you? Don’t you reminisce it at all?”
Olivia looked at him quietly, taking in his current expression.
She blinked slowly and asked, “Do all your childhood memories mean anything to you? Do you remember the name of the
kindergarten teacher when you were five years old? Do you remember the table from elementary school? Do you remember
every playmate in your childhood?”
Alexander was stunned.
He really did not remember.
However, to him, the girl in the gown was different. She was his best memory and the light in his dark life.
Alexander promptly expressed his thoughts as he was eager for Olivia to understand them.
Unfortunately, she simply looked at him indifferently after listening. She said extremely calmly, “Am I the most cherished memory
from your childhood, the one you remember and hold dear?”
He nodded firmly.
When Bettany, who was lying on the ground, heard this, she subconsciously clenched her fists, and the resentment in her eyes
became evident.
“But it’s such a pity.” Olivia’s tone changed, adding, “You’re not a part of the most cherished memory of my childhood. You’re just
a speck of dust in my memory. Therefore, I don’t remember you and don’t care about you.”
“Urgh...” Alexander, whose face displayed an extreme sense of despair, spat out a mouthful of blood.,
It turned out that he was just a speck of dust in Olivia’s eyes...
Looking at Alexander, Bettany’s heart ached terribly. She tried her best to turn around, crawling in his direction. “Alexander,
Alexander, don’t be sad. You still have me. You still have me, eh? You’re the most precious person to me. I’m willing to give up
everything for you.”
“Get lost!” Alexander’s tone suddenly turned sharp, and he felt as if there was a fire burning in his chest.
At this moment, he wished he could kill Bettany.
It was all her fault!
She lied to him, causing him to mistake her for someone else, after all.
The bone–chilling hatred in his eyes made her heart ache. She felt as though she was soaking in an ice bath, which sent chills
throughout her entire being. She now realized that Alexander hated her!
Overwhelming despair engulfed her, causing her eyes to be filled with madness. She averted her gaze and fixed a hateful stare
upon Olivia, and she said with great resentment, “Didn’t you promise you’d never desire the whistle again if you gave it
to me?
Olivia nodded, looking at her calmly, then said, “Yes. I really don’t want it.”
Bettany shouted, “Then what are you doing now? You’ve already said that you don’t want it, so why did you tell him? The whistle
is mine. It’s mine! I’ve never seen such a hypocritical person like you. I’ve asked you several times, and you’ve always told me
that you don’t want it anymore. Since you don’t want it anymore, so why did you have to tell him?”
Bettany’s loud voice wavered, leading it to tremble as she spoke. By the time she uttered the last sentence, her voice had
become completely hoarse.
She harbored a deep hatred for Olivia, resenting her for her hypocrisy and despising her even more for constantly projecting an
air of superiority. Olivia’s tone turned cold. “It’s true that I don’t want the whistle, but I didn’t say that I wouldn’t tell others. I gave
you a chance, you know. If you had remained obediently within the Grant family, today’s events might not have unfolded.”
Bettany now appeared deranged. “Excuses! They are all excuses! You could have remained silent. Why did you have to say it
out loud? You have nearly everything, so what harm is in giving one or two things to others? I don’t desire much, okay? I only
want the whistle! Why must you shatter such a modest wish!”
Olivia had grown impatient. “No matter how much I have, it’s still mine. It has nothing to do with you. Bettany, don’t push your
luck. I’ve already done enough for you.”
Bettany sneered. “Gratitude? Bringing up gratitude once more? You constantly use all the good deeds you’ve done for me as a
threat, but nobody ever pleaded with you to assist me. Who begged you to help me, eh? Whether it was rescuing me by sending
me to the Dillon family or arranging for me to learn drawing from a

teacher, it was all your own desires. I never begged for any of it!”
Olivia’s eyes turned cold.
It was evident that Bettany was filled with despair. “Olivia, do you realize that you’ve destroyed me? You’ve ruined everything.
Because of you, I’ve lost Alexander and everything!”
“Nol” Olivia suddenly emanated an oppressive presence. She approached Bettany’s side, peering down at her. “You can still
paint. Your hands are still capable of that.” Bettany was a little confused.
Before she could react, Olivia’s right hand had already reached her wrist.
With just a “click“, her wrist was broken.
In that instant, Olivia rose to her feet, cleaning her hands with a napkin. Her tone turned cold, and she said, “Now, you’ve lost
everything!”
When something happens so suddenly, one might not be able to react instantly. This was the case with Bettany.
After a minute, she erupted into wails and screams. Embracing her limp and unresponsive right hand, she shouted, “My hand!
What’s happened to my hand?” Olivia stood in front of her and said word by word, “Bettany, if you despise me and reject my
assistance, then I’ll reclaim everything I’ve provided to you!” “No...” Bettany was struck as if by lightning, her blood surging and
flowing in reverse throughout her body at that moment, rising all the way to her head and prompting her to emit a painful howl.
Olivia observed Bettany in silence, and her eyes revealed no discernible emotion. Meanwhile, she remained unresponsive to
Bettany’s anguish. After a while, when Bettany’s voice lowered, she said unhurriedly, “Actually, I did not intend to expose you at
first. Alexander might be desirable to you, but to me, he’s barely anything. You see, he’s just trash to me, and I don’t care if you
want to take the trash with you. However, you can’t be too arrogant, eh? You’ve been pushing your luck time and time again. You
disregard my kindness and yet come to bully me. Do you think I have no idea? Do,
think I don’t care?”
She added, “I don’t care about what you have done previously. On one hand, I don’t care. On the other hand, it’s not the right
time. Today, I’ll just teach you a lesson. If you accept what I offer, everything will be as sweet as honey. But should you reject it
and assume ill intent, that sweetness will transform into toxic arsenic. I put some powder inside when I gave this whistle to you. If
you had conducted yourself properly, it would have remained just a whistle. But if you harbored any ill intentions, it would
transform into a sharp weapon ready to harm you! Whether it is harmless or harmful depends on you. However, you were simply
too greedy. You have lost yourself.”
